  1. Just had my first P bass wiring loom built by John and I must say it's top notch, a real master class in soldering skills and neatness. Great comms/advice from John and fast delivery. Very pleased, thank you.
  2. These really are great little amps especially the MK2 version, I love mine. Great price too, glwts!
  3. How on earth do these beauties survive an absolute mauling and the inevitable buckle rash....just amazing. GLWTS bud!
  4. I have a 71 Jazz that I bought from Si off here and its Collector Grade 10/10....looks like its just come out of the factory. I play it at most giggs and its an absolute joy to play.....like I said they were built to be played.
  5. It really is incredible that some instruments such as this are in pristine condition after 51 years. Leo made these to be played and gigged regularly, not stuck in its case and pushed under the bed....
  6. Absolute farce and total embarrassment that a band headlining a gig doesn't have their own gear....... When we headline we always allow the support to use our gear if needed not the other way around.
  7. Playing on the pavement? Really! I would have told them where to shove it, loaded my gear back in the car (in truth l wouldn't have got it out having seen the set up) and then l would have waved goodbye, phoned my good lady Mrs Woody to ask her which takeaway curry she wanted and to get netflix ready for my return...cosy night in! Sorry but would never put up with that sh@t
  8. The contour control cuts the mids when you it up.
  9. I cant emphasise how awesome these amplifiers are, I've got the R400! Played last Friday and Saturday and drew praise from random people in the audience about my tone\sound. I love these amps, so easy to work with.
  10. I feel very happy and fortunate in my very mature age to be with a band who all get on really well, are really accomplished musicians with a top singer, play great soul/Motown music, have our own small but powerful PA which our sax player owns and likes to set up himself and we go out regularly twice a month, 3 times at a push. I have a rig which is light weight and a lovely collection of basses I can choose from. We play gigs that are a maximum of an hour from home and I'm usually back in for 1.00am nursing a beer or a single malt. Life is good but I have to admit, the only downside is I'm walking about like Tin Man for a couple of hours next morning.....small price to pay though.
  11. Very much so mate..it's a wonderful instrument, thanks.
  12. Cant believe this is still for sale....
  13. I know this might seem a bit strange but have a listen to Dirty Joker by Slade. Jimmy Lea plays an unbelievably good solo in it...its based on Bach but l suppose it would be as Jimmy was originally a violinist.
  14. Well lve just completed 30 gigs/rehearsals with the HD R400 l bought off here a few months ago and l have to admit it is the best amp l have ever played through and lve played through most over the years including Ampeg/Orange/Trace. The tone and harmonic sounds are something to behold and the slight break up of the preamp valves is just perfect. Everywhere l have used it l get compliments of how it sits in the mix. Honestly this amp is simply awesome. I use a 4 string musicman through a couple of Super compacts and we play predominately Soul/Norther Soul/Funk and Disco music. This amp perfect for all of this....l simply love it. What does everyone else think?
  15. Jon Shuker is most definitely 'The Man'. He makes some fabulous instruments!
  16. I stand corrected Stu, I didn't know that....whatever they were they were very loud. Every day's a school day.....just curious how you know?
  17. Try playing 'achie breakie heart' on that..
  18. Wouldn't be able to chuck this into a Tranny after a gig lol...
  19. Wow...nearly fell off my chair looking at that!
