Ideas of pricing? Cheers
Current prices for SIIs seem to be in the £800 - £1000 range (depending on condition, finish etc) but, as I've mentioned over on the Status site, I really need to shift this so the 1st sensible offer received will secure this lovely bass (as Nick says - cheers mate, hope things are all good!) Cheers Dave
+1 for growing a pair and being honest with them - if you want to be treated with respect you have to respect others...even if they are holding your band back.
+1 to this - funnily enough I've just experienced this from a slightly different perspective in that I have recently (last weekend) decided to chuck the towel in with regard to a 6 piece 80s function band I have been a member of for the past 3 years.... After a rehearsal last Sunday I came to said conclusion (for a whole host of reasons I won't go into) and, once decided on my course of action, felt that the only way to handle it was to phone each member in turn to inform them of my decision and explain the reasons (I would have obviously preferred to do it face to face but the fact we're spread across three counties and difficultly in aligning diaries etc was one of the reasons behind the decision made this impractical) - I then spent the next 3 hours talking to each of my bandmates in turn to let them know of my decision Handle it whichever way you think is most appropriate, but the best advise I can give is to do it in a way you feel comfortable with and also think about how you'd like to be treated if the boot was on the other foot....... Regards Dave

I have the R1000 Head which I bought way back in 2002 (I think!) - I think the fact that I still have it today illustrates what a great piece of kit it is. It does run hot but has proved ultra reliable, sounds good and is extremely well spec'd. I'd wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone who's interested (can't speak for the cabs though as I only have the head) Regards Dave
Sad day - my Series II (#204) has now got a new dad as of tonite - but he's one of the best - so the KB MkII fund is growing!!! Congrats to Dave Pickering (good to see you again m8).
Hi Nick!! Got the SII back 'ome last night (the deal went down in a car park just off the A1 under the cover of darkness - very shady!!!!), gave her a quick 'road test' and have to say the bass is everything I was hoping for - classic status tone (not to mention punch) and playability - so I'm well happy!!! Am rehearsing with it 2nite so looking forward to that - good to see you too, hope 2009 is good to ya! Cheers Dave
Dave this is the bass,(sorry cant paste for some reason) www.guitarsales.co.uk last bass in 2nd hand basses.. What do you think on this price..I dont know how long hes had it. no LED's from what i know..
Ah right - this bass is quite highly spec'ed in terms of the facing timber, fretboard binding etc and does look the dogs to boot! Still think £1750 is on the high side price wise - as a comparison there is a beautiful and immaculate used quilted maple topped spitfire currently for sale in Mansons in Exeter for £1399 (I'm sure Adrian would have some roon for negotiation on that) Best thing is to have a play, see if it floats your boat and then haggle!! Cheers Dave
This bass is roughly £1800, is this a good price for this instrument (in this current climate)..
Hi mate What's the spec on this bass? (Is it new, loaded with the GB LED/Controller system etc) because (without the benefit of knowing said specs) it seems pricey to me I have had two basses (a rumour and a spitfire) custom built for me by Bernie and all I'll say is, for that kind of money, it'd be worth talking to the man himself! Cheers Dave
EQing by numbers is a recipe for disaster. Use your ears. Every room is different.
+1!!!! I have an ALMK500 Head with a 12 Band graphic - don't think I've used the same settings twice while gigging, even going back to repeat venues.........
Blimey my old Willy must be in there somewhere!
Indeed he is Kol - front row next to #0002 - spot the LED'ed crown Inlay @ the 12 fret? Dead giveaway!! Cheers Dave
What I can tell you is that it's an earlier example due to two things... a) the control layout - it has the Standard/original Spitfire 4 in a line electronics as opposed to the Rumour electronics
Not necessarily true! (although I think it is in this case) - my GB IV (2006 custom build) has Rumour electronics coupled to the original/Jazz style control layout (at my request) as I prefer the look of the 'in-line' layout on the Spitfires, but that's the beauty of having a custom build - you get exactly want you want!! Cheers Dave

Fantastic looking bass moo (all us statii members have been avidly following the completion of this bass!!) Tom Boyle also owns a stunning starchild replica which I had the pleasure of playing a couple of years ago (I think a pic of it was posted earlier in this thread) luverleeeee!!!!!!!! Cheers Dave
beautiful series 1 you have there dave, did you know that the eq knobs on my dads are also wood?? marcus
Hi Marcus Yeah they're ebony aren't they - I asked John to make me a couple of colobolo ones - I think the wooden knobs suit the vibe of the basses much more (what with the wooden pickup cases etc) Cheers Dave
-
Thought I'd attach some pics of my beautiful Series I Classic #0003SA replica complete with pickups out of MKs 1st Jaydee - bass also is now fitted with cocobolo master tone/volume knobs which John kindly made for me a couple of months ago! Enjoy!!! Cheers Dave
I think they look great also. Not the biggest fan of the scratchplates though. Mind you, I generally don't like any bass with a scratchplate!
Well I'm probably a bit baised as I have one (lol) but I think the Daphne Blue Rumour with the 'snot' green scratchplate c/w with chrome hardware look the absolute dogs!!! (Do like the fancy multi-laminate 'furniture' ones too though!!!) Cheers Dave
