Awesome! I know I have said it before but in a few years time these will be in the do you remember when they were only £950 category, I'm certain of it I'm going to get one when the funds allow.
I know, not making it any easier to let it go. Not sure about having it defretted, i'd rather not mess with it.

Once again contemplating letting this go, but once again my conditions for parting with it are slightly unrealistically specific and optimistic (because I don't really want to let it go). Basically I really want a fretless but i'm specifically after a late 70s Fender Precision or Jazz (might possibly consider a Victor Bailey fretless or a fretless Musicman). I'd be happy to pay a cash adjustment if the right trade is worth a bit more. As far as a sale goes i'd only let it go for £950 collected but a trade would be ideal. (for a trade i'd be willing to meet half way or for a sale pick up can be from Suffolk or Liverpool)
what's the weight?
Not sure, don't have any accurate scales. Similar to my jazz in weight really, not noticebly heavy at all.
(LONGSHOT) don't fancy trading for a wee minimark do you? Best practice amp in the universe!
Sorry, no thanks. I'm a Hartke guy.

Wasn't that for sale on the forum? Think it's a 'Vintage' brand p bass with 70s fender decal added. And i think it's been relic'd not natural playwear.

Right, i need a five string bass. This is a truely awesome bass but i'm not sure I can justify having all these 4 stringers around when I need a fiver. It was built in 1989 so is 20 years old this year. I believe stingrays of this age are the best quality ones about with much nicer wood used on the body and neck, the larger bridge with mutes and the metal battery cover. The sound is classic stingray all over really punchy sound which is amazing live. I can honestly say it's the best stingray i've played which is why i'm still not entirely sure about letting it go, hence this being a trade not sale. I'd be looking for a five string, fretted or fretless, but i'm open to ideas on what make. Another musicman would be nice or a jazz of some description, but as i said i'll take a look at anything you have to offer. Considering it's age i'd guess the bass is worth around £800 and I have around £400 I could add to a part ex so the value of you bass can be anything between say £600 to £1200. I'd like to be able to do the trade in person so at the moment no offers from too far away but most of East Anglia and London should be fine. Here's a teaser pic before I put some more up. p.s. the bass comes with both a white and clear pickguard and a musicman hardcase

Bloody hell, I thought I gonna get a couple of disagreements but people really are bothered by what I said. I totally agree that any bassist with enough cash is gonna go for the best they can, regardless of talent, I know I would. But the point I was making was the second thing I said.
That aside, I think Shuker may have made a wrong move on this one. I may be wrong but it seems to me followers of the Kaiser Chiefs are generally young beginner players who wouldn't be able to afford a bass made by Shuker. They would probably go for something like this squier to get the look without spending a fortune. Don't get me wrong the bass is lovely but i'm not sure the endorsement is right for Shuker's customer base.
I may have phrased it badly but what I meant is it's not going to be the most effective signature model as the majority of fans aren't going to be able to afford one. I know it will generally raise Shukers profile in the long run so the endorsement is a good thing but what I was really questining was the need for a signature model. p.s. 'thisnameistaken', i'm not saying i'm any better than him or that I personally could get an endorsement/signature model. I've got all the perspective on the matter I need and i'd appreciate it if you didn't treat me like an idiot. Cheers, Mat
