3. Hmmm... started on my teacher's Squier P Bass. Far too simple. Over the next two years: Fernandez Tremor fretless uneven fretboard so... Ibanez EDB600 put WD40 in the composite body pup screw holes & gassed myself so... Yamaha RBX270 boring so... Johnson fretless didn't play nicely so... Yamaha BB414 new, no character so... Hohner BBass Pro VI loved it Peavey Grind 5 loved it too so one had to go, so... Yamaha RBX260F realised I couldn't play f/less Squier VM Jazz Bass realised I couldn't play bass, so sold this and Hohner VI to go back to basics, so... Yamaha BB300 Mrs Lownote started tapping her foot very fast and emitting a high thin whine, so... Hohner BBass Pro IV v. cheap but wonderful. Starting to learn bass. Don't try this at home kids. Just buy a simple bass. Learn. End of...
4. now worked it out. Metal bit in pic above fits the other way up from the pic (channel facing downwards) in the E string 'tunnel' in the bridge. It fits over a a little pin and rests on top of the string. Then the dropped E lever works out. Cool. Stil have no idea what it does but at least it does it. Love a plan when it comes together.
5. were you really filling a shopping centre with a Roland micro cube?
6. Mrs Lownote says keep it, I say the money is more important
7. Basically, one cab and head sold, one cab left.
8. I have sold my head and one cab. What I have left is one BC210 cab, almost new and not gigged. Excellent side handles and only 19kg so easy to cart about. No marks, one or two small faint scuffs. £175 with economy delivery included. Cash on collection much preferred and then the price will be £160 only. Norfolk-Suffolk border. (Sale doesn't include head pictured)
9. burp
10. luvly job chap. really mean that. if it was a p bass your arm would be off.
11. ta! carry on like that and I'll end up keeping it PS do you know how the insides of the drop tuner works? There's a little piece of metal involved but I can't work out what it does, where it should go and why the drop tuner drops OK but not to D. How do you set it up? (I've post in tech but no response). Sorry if this hits the 36 hour buffer, mods, tell me and I'll remove this post - but i do want to know!
12. I recently restored this BBass Pro 4. New strings, pots cleaned, fingerboard setup and intonation done. Good paint, a couple of minor dings but nothing through to the wood. Everything works. These are really good under-rated guitars, light and well balanced. Red stained maple body, maple neck-thru, rosewood f/board, 34" scale length, 24 frets. Dual EMG pups J style. Active preamp w/ Dual Vol, Stacked Bass/Treble cut/boost, active/passive switch. It has a drop D tuner, but I'm not convinced it's more than a gadget. It's just I really wanted a P Bass when I got sidetracked by the Hohner, so if you've got a Squier Precision in decent nick and want a change, I could be up for it maybe with some cash as well your way, depending. Based in East Anglia so local would be good as double shipping transfers can get messy. You can hear one being played here
13. Faced with a BB300 which kept shedding its strap I contemplated Straplocks, but in the past I had a couple of basses with these and the straplocks kept working loose from the straps. In the end I used two washers off Grolsch bottle stoppers over the strap buttons after the strap is fitted. The strap hasn't slipped off yet. The only problem is the washers are a miserable red brown so it helps if your bass colour matches.
14. do you ever get up east anglia way?
15. and now you're selling it what went wrong?
16. Now seriously getting to grips with sorting out my gear. Surplus to requirements is one TC BC210, 2x10 with tweeter. Great sound with good bass and clear highs. The best thing is it only weighs 19kg, which with the excellent handles means lifting it in and out of cars or lugging up stairs is relatively easy - great for bad backs and dodgy knees! Comes with EITHER a Speakon-Speakon cable connector or a Speakon-jack, you decide which you want. Great condition - could pass for new unless you look really close and if the light's right you see a few faint scuff marks. But no gig or transport scores. There is a slight smell of smoke but it is slight - I hate smoke and I happily share an office with the thing. Cash on collection please, based in mid East Anglia. I'll deliver up to 25 miles (Norwich, Ipswich, Bury). I do have original BC210 packaging so I could courier but even at a featherweight 19kg it ain't going to be cheap.
17. Anyone know what the right size Allen key is? 5mm is too loose and 5.5mm won't go in. Just spent a fiver on Imperial keys and none of them fit either, either far too loose or too big. The socket doesn't look rounded... Adn the channel is so tight I wonder if the correct tool is a long handled Allen headed T bar.
