Some of you know all about this already as I've had a build thread on it since March. Some of you voted on what the amp would be named, Taranis. Today was new amplifier day for me as it was delivered and commissioned this afternoon. It's a two channel hand-wired 200 watt British amplifier with custom transformers and four KT88s in the power section. It's a similar format to an Orange AD200B or Matamp GT200 however the pre-amp sections and power reduction switching options make it very different and much more versatile. These are the transformers, the little one is a guitar amp transformer for comparison. The long awaited and anticipated guts shot! Video review to be done over Christmas. To give you an idea of what it can do, it's got one vintage channel and one filthy modern channel. It's got a voice selector like a GT200, which on this amp has some very different characteristics and one of the settings makes it a pretty good guitar amp(zilla). It's 205 watts clean and switchable down to two valves from four and also can be run at half power so half power can be achieved by running all four valves at half power or two valves at full power. Very different flavours. There's also the two valve half power setting, which is amazing and I think it's brilliant for recording. The DI is very hot. That's all I'm saying for now.
Tuffcab is available in RAL colours AFAIK to order. Contact Aldcroft and see what they have to say, - https://www.facebook.com/aldcroftadhesives Great looking amp, and whilst listening to the Who gets me thinking I must get the Sound City fired up.
Can you put Tuffcab on over another layer? Won't it be too thick?

Thanks very much for that post. Just got to soak it up and try to put it into practice.
Cheers Sean, this is the first I've heard of Landr. Look good and what a great business idea! (damn, wish I’d thought of this…). I haven’t tried it yet, but I’ve just listened to lurks and Dad’s entries for the Composition Challenge (good work guys ) and if those are anything to judge by then it seems like a very handy quick fix for mastering. Hard to tell exactly what it’s doing - as I haven’t heard the original tracks - but I’m guessing it’s probably a mix of multi-band compression, stereo widening, loudness limiting (maximising) and high/low pass filtering. Both lurks and Dad’s tracks have plenty of ‘air’ in the high end, so it’s probably boosting up there too. It’ll never be a substitute for learning the ropes yourself - or better still, the ears of a proper mastering engineer, of course. But it’s free (for MP3s / WAVs cost on subscription) and the results sound very good. What’s not to like??
Have a listen: Before Landr https://soundcloud.com/belowtheghost/upbeat-rock-idea After Landr https://soundcloud.com/belowtheghost/surf-rock-idea-mastered

New Laklands... including a PJ Skyline w/blocks!

That natural DJ is the same as what was the ACDJ a few years back which was a limited run of 30. I had one and it was fitted with Chisonic pickups, sounded great but was heavy. -
https://www.landr.com/ I've done a few tracks using the landr free account and it seems pretty good. The tracks pop. I've only mastered a few rough demos and rehearsal recordings so far but I think I'll be using this for the tracks we're recording at the moment.
Looks superb! I'm trying to figure out why it's in a pub though
It's in a social club up in High Peak in Derbyshire (beautiful part of the world and very close to Shukerville). The club rent out the room as rehearsal space. It was decided that testing this beast at Martin's house/workshop was going to be too noisy so we went somewhere where we could make as much noise as we wanted.

Very interesting, Simon. I can't wait to start however I have to wait until Dec 6th now until we're all available all day.
