1. Probably the best bang for buck on Basschat at the moment! J&D Jack & Danny 70s J Bass c/w Gear4Music padded gigbag! I bought this bass two and half years ago from a Basschatter to use as a rehearsal room instrument so I could leave it there and go to rehearsals on my bike. We no longer have a permanent rehearsal room so this is now redundant and needs a new home. I'm also thinning the herd. It's absolutely bangin' for the bucks and punches well above its weight, which is 8.8lb. It sounds exactly like a good Jazz should. It has one small chip on the back and a few scratches but this is a very sorted instrument. This has been modified to enhance what is a pretty good instrument off the shelf. Mods are:

Full copper shielding and earthing job.
KiOgon wiring loom - a high quality wiring loom with screw terminals of solderless change of pickups. Improves the sound over stock installation.
A Gotoh-alike high mass bridge improves the sustain over the original.
Proper set-up and fret job so the action is low-medium and it plays really nicely with no buzz. Intonation done with a strobe tuner so it's spot on. The aftermarket bridge helps no end.
Chrome knobs fitted
Replacement Kent Armstrong Bridge Pickup fitted (8.2k), bridge pickup is original J&D (7.7k).
Strap buttons are replacements to help it stay on the strap better.
Collection from Gloucester or if you're in London and message me today, I can make it collect from Canary Wharf this week. No postage/shipping as I do not have any suitable packing material. 2.
that bit of leather on the back!
Grim
 3.
Is Mac plying one in this photo of wings?
That's a BB1200. It's single pickup (reverse P), neck-thru, less bling than the BB3000 though same pedigree, just a different price point. There is a BB1600 too, which is similar to the BB3000 however that has a bolt-on neck. The BB2000 was like a BB3000 with a reverse P and less bling. All different flavours of the same excellent concept.
 4. I have a BB1300, two buckers, neck-thru. Same pedigree as this. Quality is excellent, very classy. BB3000 was the flagship Yam for years replaced by the BB202* series.
 5. Nice one. I was very close to buying this. The wunkay is the only bass I have GAS for. It's the only one I've never owned that I have wanted for many years. How versatile and could a wunkay be the wunandonly?
 6.
Really? The Richie Kotzen signature model is one of the most expensive non custom shop Telecasters available, about £1,800 last time I looked.
That's another loophole closed off, then It was good while it lasted
 7. Teles are more expensive because there's more wood. Manufacturers generally don't slice big chunks of the wood away like on a Strat, all those comfort contours mean less wood. I got wise to all this and ended up with a Richie Kotzen Telecaster with comfort contours and it was an absolute bargain, mainly because it has less wood. It's still a Tele but less wood means cheap, right? Check them out. It's like a loophole in the whole "Teles are dearer than Strats" rule.
 8.
also some amps/preamps etc already have similar things built in....
I discussed my MT with Martin at MJW when he was building my Taranis head (similar to a Matamp GT200 or Orange AD200) and he said that there was similar circuitry in my Taranis. When A/B tested with and without the MT, I get a better sound with the MT. I have it first in my signal chain and it's as important for me as my tuner.
 9. An excellent deal with Dan on a pedal. Postage was super quick, the condition of the pedal was like new and he was really easy to deal with. Another Basschat winner :-)
 10. Super reliable to deal with, great comms and fantastic packaging. All in all another great BC deal.

 13. Hi All I have some brand new, unopened, boxed D'Addario Flex Steels for sale that I'd like to move on as I find that they aren't suiting my current gigging style of plectrum rock. Info Here Hit me up if you're interested. I'll post these for free in normal UK Mainland - HIghlands and Islands etc. will be more. £30 posted for the two sets. Thanks Sean
 14. I tried lightweight gear years back and gradually made my way back on heads to heavier, more traditional designs. I mainly use a Mesa 400+ and my MJW Taranis, which is like a highly pimped GT200. For cabs, the big Barefaced do it for me, super light for their size and match up well with big valve amps. The BF cabs make handling a big cab easy and as for heavy heads then since I'm the bass player, there's always someone to help carry stuff. If I was a solo artist that would be different but I play in a five piece rock band. Out of interest, I always carry a Markbass Nano in my gigbag as backup but that's because it's easy to tuck away as an emergency spare. So, what I'm saying is, go with what sounds good to you and get someone to help you carry gear or get a trolley.
 15.
Are we having another round?
Not until I've found my glasses
 16.
http://nordstrandpickups.com/products/npvj4se-set/
The Nordy P is excellent. I have one in my Valenti and it's paired with a Bareknuckle J that suits it well, nice serendipitous pairing.
 17. I have PJ on most of my basses. I really like these http://www.hot-rodpickups.com/nightrain-87-pj-bass-pickup-set-655-p.asp I have them on a Charvel and gig it. The pups are like slightly hot traditional Fender. Nice detail and articulation when used together. Service from HotRod is just as good as Wizard. Also, they're British.
 18. Have you made a decision yet?
 19. Weight?
 20.
My local venue used to be The Torrington in Finchley. Fairly decent PA there and most bands used the house sound guy. Piss him off or treat him badly and he'd make you sound absolute sh*t. I saw a guitarist give him stick in a very uncompromising and public way once because he was struggling with his monitor volume. Sound guy sorted him in the monitors, then pulled him out of the front of house mix completely. . .
Sound guy in this circumstance should be sacked. Yes, the guitarist was a dick but it's the audience that gets punished and the venue loses out overall.
 21. Is this still available?
 22. Hi Simon Many thanks for another fantastic Basschat deal. Awesome condition bass purchased and Simon gave me the try before you buy opportunity too :-) Simon comes highly recommended as a top bloke and another great example of why there's no better place to do a deal. All the best Sean
 23. They are strung with Yamaha strings. Very difficult to find in the UK. They are nickel and will be 45-105 roundwounds so any decent make with that spec will be OK. Rotosound are UK-made and good quality strings. Stringsdirect.com do a good quality budget set made by Rotosound called Legacy and I use these all on my non-gigging basses and they are absolutely fine. I use coated Elixirs on the gigging basses as they require less attention if you get corrosive sweat all over them regularly.
 24.
An excellent and very efficient deal on an amp head. Another basschat winner. Despatch, delivery and comms all top notch. Very happy indeed :-)
I must add a follow up piece of feedback for Pete to say that his help and support getting info and a proof of purchase to me for a warranty claim on an amp I bought from him was absolutely outstanding and very much appreciated. The amp's fan failed last Friday night while gigging and due to Pete's lightning response and excellent advice said amp was swiftly returned to the manufacturer's service centre, is now repaired under warranty and back with me today.
