i neither like fenders or the beatles....i cant say there rubbish as they both very popular...i just think the davieses or the wilsons were far better song/lyric writers...the who were technicaly better band, the beatles just rode gravey trains...like a statement they pioneered psychadelia or prog.....pahleeesseee....moodys were there!! but each to there own i like others think they are overrated....
This post is to grammar, spelling and punctuation what TAB is to notation. It's painful to read. Have some respect for us poor sods who aren't fluent in rambling disjointed nonsense, please.

Last month's was my last copy. BGM has had way too many chances to get things right and they're not getting my £4+ per copy for amateur, sloppy rubbish. I've supported the magazine since Issue 3 and it's always been very poor. Apologising on this forum is one thing and I admire that but it doesnt seem to have fixed the problems.

The only credible alternative to a Ray is its brother, the Sterling. It's a bit nastier sounding, biggest difference is the neck profile, it's more compact.
-
Go for a Ray. The Laklands and many other instruments that have MM pickups, have them closer to the bridge than Stingrays and this doesn't nail the sound the plucking tension is higher if you rest your thumb on the pickup. A Ray is a Ray.

I'm surprised that we have "Timewasters" on BassChat
Sean replied to thebrig's topic in General Discussion
I only deal in exquisite gear ;-) and only deal with top notch geezers and proper gentlemen/ladies; Basschat has been extremely kind to me. Sometimes you not only trade with people, you bond with people too. Gushy? Nah, that's just the way it been. Long may it continue. I'm extremely intolerant of tyre kickers but only two or three Basschatters have experienced the Seanwrath :-D -
Here it is! As you can see, it's had more work done than David Guest but it's ended up a lot prettier and much more useful than him! Pickup switching is one three-way to select between MM, MM+P, P and one two way which switches between MM in parallel and MM switched to single coil mode. This gives Classic Sterling sound (yes, it's ceramic), Hoofing P (that DiMarzio is a DP127 monster P), single J at the bridge and PJ and whatever other combinations. It has an East MMSR 3-band EQ pre-amp. It sounds monstrous through my newly acquired 400+ and good ole Bergantinos. There are a lot of sounds in this bass. The DP127 combined with the East MMSR is possibly a bit much and I might go for a hot but more conventional P pickup in the next version I'm planning. Thanks to Ou7shined for the inspiration, LukeFRC for selling me the neck (attached to a BB300) and continually badgering me to update (which has been a good motivator), The Bass Doc for doing the detailed routs and fiddly stuff, Jon Shuker for loads of advice on everything and the guy who sold me the MEC MM pup (you know who you are).

I've spoken to Howard a couple of times over the past week and he's busy cracking on with doing basschatters' basses. If anyone needs his number, hit me up with a PM.

Stu is no nonsense and very easy to deal with. Top Basschatter!

Chris is old school Basschat royalty; there's little I can add to this glittering feedback thread that hasn't already been said It was a real pleasure to meet you (and the family) after all these years and I think you know your favourite old girl has gone to a good home.

I've tried D class amps, even ones with valve preamps and they just don't give me the heft I want. When I moved from a GK 700RB-II to a Markbass LMK I was a bit lost, there was something lacking and I didn't enjoy gigging as much. Then I had the chanc to play through a 400+ and I realised it was the Markbass head that was letting me down. I traded my LMK in against a Mesa Carbine M6 which has been awesome in every way but is now for sale as I'm about to tick another thing off the bucket list and am going all the way to a 400+. I always find D Class lacking a certain something when compared to an all valve head or MOSFET head. I don't understand it but to me D class amps are like MP3s - a fantastic idea in concept, infinitely practical and able to sayisfy >95% of users but for some folk only vinyl will do.

Well, the Sea Foam Green BBingRay is done. The Bass Doc has finished doing the tricky stuff, routs and new nut and all that remains is for me to fit some hardware and it's complete. Pics as soon as I receive it back. Apparently it sounds fantastic and has a lot of different sounds in it. I'm not entirely happy with the refinish so I'll redo it after I've done the Shuker build course and learned a bit about how to do it properly.

^ Grade A apostrophe abuse in that one. If only it were an olympic event, the UK would be eternal champions ;-)

It's your apostrophe abuse that would put me off. But then again, I'm a pedantic tw@t.

What do you ask when advertising for a vocalist?
Sean replied to xgsjx's topic in General Discussion
Make sure that they understand the level of commitment that you want them to have. Make sure that they understand that they have to be able to remember the lyrics without print-outs. Make sure they understand that rehearsals are not practise. Make sure they understand that although they have very little gear that they are expected to help carry gear. Make sure that they can drive and have their own transport - if this matters to you. Make sure that they are the sort of person that you'd enjoy a pint with - this is very important. Make sure that they are into music and not just into being a frontperson/vocalist. Make sure that they understand how to use a "/" correctly when writing ads < only joking with that one but deadly serious from experience with all the others. -
Here's my guesses: Korean Made Lakland Skyline models: Darryl Jones 4 Jerry Scheff 4 Duck Dunn Korean Made Inanez ATK400s and 700s None particularly cheap now but they'll soar in value, I reckon.

If you're still finding that you need something a bit more bespoke, flightcasewarehouse will make one to suit if you send them the measurements or a template or they will send you an uncut foam case and you can do it yourself. I did this in the past and it was very snug. Their cases are a bit heavy, though as they're full flight case spec.

Another Aldi bargain - lightweight folding 'sack truck'
Sean replied to The Admiral's topic in General Discussion
Yeah, we knew http://basschat.co.uk/topic/197842-aldi-folding-trollies-are-back/page__pid__1951745#entry1951745 Correct forum and pics too... -
These are really high quality, well made and indispensable for hardcore heavy rig users and those of us who have to lug the PA. I've had one of these for about five years. I've improved it a bit by replacing all the nuts with nylock ones and it's absolutely marvellous. Currently £15.99 and they had stacks of them in Gloucester today. Focus DIY were selling these in 2009 (exactly the same with different packaging) for £32.99
1987 BB5000. A total beast.
Stunning. I saw Steve Vai recently and his bassist, Philip Bynoe uses a fretless BB5000 that's heavily modified - has replacement soapbar shaped pickups which changes the look dramatically.
Why have a set neck yet still include the block heel and poor upper fret access? In fact why have those last few frets at all?
It's a weird neck joint, that's for sure. They've changed their guitar neck joints over the years and not for the best.
