[/quote] You can see pics of the neck joint on the website if you click around a bit. It looks like it's set neck unless there are hidden bolts. I'm not keen; I just don't like set necks for bass; it doesn't seem right to me.

Is that a set (glue-in) neck design?

Money no object. Uncompromised tone is everything. Weight is not an issue. Size is not an issue. Cab size/weight not an issue. Price of spares not an issue. Maintenance not an issue. Now that I've hacked out a lot of subjectivity... What is the best bass amp ever made?

The BB Super P is waiting for me to complete a Shuker build course. I want to develop my skills a bit more so that I do the best job I can.

We all do what He bids. Otherwise we spend eternity in hell. Not exactly an ideal way to run a popular beat combo but apparently this is the way that He wants it run and I've been messed about so much in the past I'm ready to put up with anything.

Seriously. Are there such genres as post-blues, post-ska, post-bluegrass or post-reggae? If not, why not and could there be. Is there a future for me as the godfather of post-grunge, for example? I've just been told there's post-hardcore (whatever that is) so I guess anything's possible. Help!

Here's the Valenti #5 P Bass that has changed hands quite a bit over the years. I tried to buy this years ago from someone but was too late and someone else beat me to it but it's mine at the moment. The bass has changed too, it started life as a passive 2-knob instrument and then it had a pre-amp fitted and the socket moved to the side and now most recently it has had its neck re-sculpted and refinished. As-built the neck profile was enormous; Jon Shuker did the work on it and he commented that it was the chunkiest neck he'd ever seen. It's now 2.5 mm skinnier and it's still a good meaty Precision neck. Also, the bridge has been recessed into the body to get the action down; I got the idea from Billy Sheehan's new Attitude 3 bass and some other old Yamahas I've had. It's also had a full fret job and set up and is wearing a set of very tasty Status flat wound strings. It plays beautifully and sounds fantastic. Update Jan 2014: Further revisions to the spec of this great bass have now made it even better. The Aguilar OBP-1 has been removed as I'm not a fan of this particular preamp. Also I routed out a Hole for a J pickup and fitted a hot Bareknuckle J in there and it balances really nicely with the Nordstrand P.

I managed to get there unscathed however almost stuffed the car on the A53 between Leek and Buxton trying to avoid a quarry truck that stopped sharply in front of me. I managed to slide round it and up on a snowy verge. Very scary! The course was superb. Two of us turned up and Jon took us through fret dressing, levelling and crowning; truss rod adjustment; getting the action right; intonation; setting pickup height; replacing frets; recutting the nut. I'm sure I've forgotten some. I learned loads and had a great day and now feel much more confident about getting instruments playing better. The results I had with the new BB424 I took with me just blew me away; I'm staggered at how well it plays now. I also managed to do a complete fret job and set up on my 1987 US Strat and that's playing beautifully too. Taking it apart gave me a reminder of how well made it is, the neck pocket is snug. I would recommend the course to anyone who is interested; Jon's a natural tutor and has lots of patience.

Everyone knows I love these Super BBs and Peter's the daddy of them all.
