1. Been there done it. Great bass. Issues? One only: epic b string from 35" scale however D and G strings too taught with that scale. YMMV.
2. I've played a Riverside. It was one of the most gawdawful shocking things I've ever touched. Nasty. Get yourself a Hohner.
3. Very pretty and bang tidy for anyone looking for their first serious bass
4.
I'm also planning on adding more/better string retainers on the headstock, those would have to be Hipshot I guess, as here I also expect easy string-changeability There's almost no angle to the E string on the nut, and very little on A and B, I hope the retainer would add a little bit of angle (and tension) here. This and the bridge combined will hopefully make the B string a bit better. If I remember correctly, Sean, you mentioned in your review that the bridge swap actually has helped. Not that it's bad as it is, I'm only slightly dissatisfied while practicing with headphones, it's much better through the amp, but every little helps, right?
I have Hipshot string retainers on mine, a two and a three string one and they help loads; it's improved the B string a fraction more again - I got the idea from Hugh MacDonald's Sadowsky basses; tried it and it worked a treat. The bridge change helps if the new bridge moves the anchor point of the string back toward the edge of the bass.
5.
Here is another tempting budget option
I like the look of that. Certainly makes changing strings easy and if like me you take flats on and off different basses a lot then that one won't shred the wraps
6. After having serious cravings for a nice piece of graphite, I recently bought a Status Streamline from Hans, who didn't have any BC history but it was easy to establish that guy was totally straight up and exactly the sort of Basschatter anyone wants to deal with. I've had some easy and slick transactions but this one was amazing considering the international bank transfer, international shipping etc. Hans packed the bass like I've not seen before; it was like it was ready for nuclear war! It took me a while to unwrap . The parcel delivery was super-fast, he posted it on a Monday from the Netherlands and it arrived with me on the Wednesday - 48 hours door to door can't be bad. Seriously good levels of communication; daily email contact to update me on every step of the process including a nice graphic showing how the bass would be packed. The instrument itself? Well, that's immaculate and came with a boat load of strings and a pristine Ritter gig bag. Top bloke, top basschatter! I know we don't score but this was a 10/10.
7. I'd agree with the comments about arrangements. I play in three piece and love it, when choosing songs that have keys parts or second guitar parts I look to YouTube for solo acoustic Guitar performances for inspiration for arrangements. We did Drops of Jupiter by Train so to start I found an acoustic guitar arrangement and composed a bass line of my own for it, the guitarist adapted the acoustic guitar part for electric and it sounded great. Our next challenge is to do ELO's Mr Blue Sky.
8.
Japanese, Taiwanese or Siamese? BB
The kittens are definitely Japanese! Hundreds of them screaming at me to buy them this new toy and they won't shut up until they know it's a full pedigree Japanese bass :-D
9. It seems I have just given birth to a litter of kittens...
10.
Plus I find this particular J pickup almost useless, as I usually only use either pickup soloed on my basses, don't find myself blending them too often. I do miss having a nice sounding, silent (hum-wise) bridge pickup though.
Sounds to me like there's an issue with that J pickup, they should be really stonking, mine is. If you look under the review section of this forum, you'll see the replacement bridge I put on mine - click the link in my sig.
11. Feeling your pain. That's absolutely vile, gives me that horrible feeling in my gut :-( Fingers crossed that the gear turns up.
12.
Pointy sparkly Westone raider: http://www.ebay.co.u...=item2c65a8b755
His other items are interesting. Looks like a life laundry situation.
13. Are they "Special" in the politically correct sense of the word? It looks like they are to me.
14.
If you've got nowt pleasant to say about my new girl bugger off
I hope you'll be really happy together. Like my mother said, there's someone out there for everyone!
15.
Why is it under the heading 'Enterprise routers' instead of Bassguitars? As is his other Stingray. Very curious? I think I've seen a monorail d-tuner thingy somewhere. When I get home I'll google it properly on my 'puter; my phone is rubbish for things like that :-( Email sent to Status. I need to change to drop D very quickly between songs (medleys) so it's a "must have" for me.

SOLD!

Can you get x-tender D-tuners for these?
21.
Roundwound strings are the most commonly used strings for bass, and 45-105 (or thereabouts) is a good starting point. If budget is an issue the Legacy strings are supposed to be decent - http://www.stringsdi...s_guitar/legacy
Legacy are Rotosound Rotobass repackaged. Very good value for money at £7.95 a set.
22. Try one of the Yamaha BB424s currently in the for sale forum. They're both stonking and around half what they cost new. Very versatile, top build quality, great workhorses. Also, buying used from Basschat can't be beat.

What's the neck profile like on these?
