1. Bought a bass from Tom recently - top bloke! Great communications and a good experience all round. I always seem to have to rush off somewhere when I could have easily spent ages talking.
2. Is there a link so we can have a look?

6.
I could usually get away with 2.
Those disco octaves must be hard work

As I understand it, that's going to have to have a price put on it or get moved to the ebay links forum.
9.
Nuts not to, surely? Go for it... I was knocked out by a 414 I tried, and only this weekend could be seen drooling over a 424 just like the one in that link.
 FIXED!
10. If you do buy one, you'd be nuts not to get this one that Rich is selling (if it's still around, that is).
11.
You're not serious!? A BCer sent a bass to you in nothing but a bin liner!? That's f***ing insane. Did you say anything?
I had an Ibanez ATK shipped to me in a bin liner with a few bits of sellotape on it that got ripped in transit ages ago - I wrote a review of the bass on here and mentioned the packaging. Even the courier guy couldn't believe it was still intact and undamaged.

13.
They are very loud. The down firing radiator speaker underneath transmits extra sound to the stage area. Loud enough for any pub, hall or medium sized venue IMHO. I had one and bought the extension cab and never used the latter as it wasn't necessary.
+1. Thunderous for their size and sound like a full on all-valve head. The quality is fantastic and the head removes easily so that you can use it with cabs. It's the sort of combo that raises an eyebrow from guitarists who don't think it'll be loud enough, then same guitarist asks if you can turn it down cos it's drowning out his AC30!
14.
In case naebody kens... Dennis Marshall is the official Mesa fixer, so has all the real bits 'n such for his work. Nice chappie.
Friend o'mine had his combo fixed by Dennis - top job! We did have a chuckle about his name, though!
15. Bump!
16.
But I have a Porsche
I eventually caved in after seven years and sold my beloved 911 and I thought that was with me for life
17. My Yamaha BB415 is a keeper as near as dammit. This was the bass I bought to replace Sid actually, Clarky. Why is it a keeper? It's a cheap bass that's been modified leaving scars and it's taken a couple of knocks leaving more scars. For what it would fetch cash it's hardly worth the bother selling it. I keep it strung with TI Flats and it's just fantastic. So a keeper by default rather than because it's so special I couldn't part with it.
18. Something I bought for a band project that never saw light so time to go to a new owner. Here's the EHX webpage. It comes with its own power supply adaptor and is in original box. £45 posted.
19. Everyone knows how good these are. This is still boxed and has the manuals. I've never used it, it's always been in the bag as back up. £100.
20. I've never shipped a bass in a case without packing the case in bubble-wrap and a cardboard box and and would dream of doing so. I'd be pretty naffed off if I bought a bass and it turned up in its case with a bit of parcel tape on it.
21. Thanks for the heads up. Amended now.
22. Hi All, I bought this Status S3000 a few weeks ago for a specific purpose/task and it's not worked out as planned. It's of fantastic quality, afterall it's a Status and hand made in the UK and that oozes through. It comes with the original case and also a brand new unopened set of double ball end Rotosounds and two sets of used ones, although the set on it have loads of life in them. Why am I not keeping it? It's just not me I'm open to trades... Shoot!
23.
I know roadies and sound engineers who carry less than this! How much of this is essential?
How much? Depends how serious you are. I always feel as if I should be better prepared than I am. Back in the day, that list would include booze, fags and other stuff
24. I always mention Mike Mills when threads ask for favourites, underrateds, most influential. Mills is a musician of enormous talent and isREM. His basslines and harmony vocals make every song what it is. He's a fabulous songwriter and a master of tone. When writing original material I use the WWDDD theory but substitute MM and of course the aforementioned Mr Ament. Anyone who knows me knows how much I love Pearl Jam and Jeff A's playing but Mike Mills is my favourite bassist, he's much more than "just a bass player", the man is ubercool.
