1. And here they are a bit less but the prices do seem strong when you consider how similar they are to a standard Euro 4LX.
  2.
Was that a list price or a genuine 'street' value? £2,400 must be pretty close to what you could get a US made Spector for?
They're on special here at £2299 (£100 off).

Well, I suppose it was inevitable that Barrie and I would run in to each other one day! Great bloke to deal with and certainly one to chew the bass fat with with a few hours. Great taste in instruments too. Go ahead, deal with confidence and tell him I sent ya
  4.
Carol Kaye told me she was the best!
+1 I got that memo too.

  6.
+ 1 on the Lakland vote. £ for £, the Darryl Jones bass is one of the best basses you can buy IMHO.
I have had two of these for quite a while and they are the nutz
  7. Details of the product can be found here. It's a truly fantastic product and if you have a search on this forum you'll see how highly regarded these are. These are very easy units to install and full instructions can be found here. There are reviews of the preamp too. £110 Posted.
  8.
Yes, its what I do with mine.
Yes, I have done this too - effectively FOH plus independent stage monitoring.
  9.
can this be fitted to a conventional jazz bass control plate? any pics?
Not as it is. You would have to unsolder the pots and attach tails so that they could be mounted on the plate - the sacing on a Jazz plate is less than 40mm typically. There are far more elegant off the peg solutions for a Jazz out there. But that's a whole new thread
  10.
Ok... thanks.. Er; what sequencer would that be then, exactly???
Garageband, Cubase, Audacity etc whatever...
  11. I have a Spector USA preamp for sale - this is out of an NS5. This has cut and boost on the bass and treble and a volume and blend (it's not a Tone Pump, it's a Haz-Lab). It's effectively a three knob system (two singles and a stack). If fitted to a four knob instrument it would mean having one redundant knob. The pots for this are integral to the board and have Spector spacing centre to centre (48mm). The pots can actually be removed from teh board and you can put tails on if you're up for some soldering. Photos later today. £60 Posted. And out of interest, here's a little blurb about Haz Labs
  12. It's dead simple. Just bung a USB in the back and connect to a PC/MAC and it'll be recognised as a soundcard effectively when you fire up your sequencer. Well, that's was how it was for me.
  13. It's a fantastic unit - all the blurb is here I'll ship with two new quality 9v batteries included £120 Delivered.

  15. This is the new Spector Tone Pump with the adjustment trim pot. According to a few people a major improvement over the old Tone Pump. This one has never been installed, it's still in the packaging. I'm told they are £99 new. £50 Posted.

  17. They are worth next to nothing now but since I'm a nice bloke (check the feedback) I'll give you £50 quid for it.
  18. I agree with what Pete said about the DJ5 with Aeros - fantastic. I've played his white one, albeit acoustically and it has a lovely feel to it and is very resonant; it was ages ago but I remember how nice it was. Dave, if you can't find a used one with Aero pups, I'd suggest going for a special order and getting Chi-Sonic pups put in, they are amazing pickups and are like the Aeros in many respects but have a little bit more oomph and a bit more breathiness to them. This link will take you to some pics of mine. I'm yet to try it with an onboard preamp but a DJ-Retro is on the cards. Not everyone can live with the looks of the Chi-Sonics but I love 'em. And, yes, the bridge pickup is wider than the neck pickup I guess that's to accommodate a larger magnet so the levels are more balanced?
  19. Excellent deal on an East U-retro. Super smooth transaction and a thoroughly decent chap to boot. Did the deal on Tuesday night, gear arrived Thursday morning.
  20. I've seen Mr Big twice and they are well worth catching. I saw them at Newcastle City Hall in 1989/90? and in Sheffield I think on the same tour. Unfortunately I'm away on holiday with friends that weekend otherwise I'd be there. SBE is a fantastic venue, I picked up a Mr Big leaflet when I was there last month seeing Chickenfoot. If my holiday is rescheuled I'll go. Maybe someone ought to arange a Basschatters' meet before the gig?
  21. This is very much appreciated, Rob. Really good stuff and very useful for me at the moment. Keep up the good work. Thanks Sean
  22. My band rehearse at 10am some Saturdays, it means me leavng home at 8.30, we're usually finished by 5pm, which is nice as it gives me the evening to do normal-people stuff if we're not gigging.
  23.
poor Jeff needs a hug.
Couldn't agree more, what a thoroughly nice chap and brilliant bass player. And by the way, my mate Laura has hugged him and she got a kiss from Stone Gossard at the same time. She must have worn them out as they weren't putting out for me
  24.

People always look cool with those German Spector copies, they're very nice
