The guitarist in my band has a 4 string and an 8 string version and uses them on Losing My Religion - obviously not together but whichever he fancies whenever. They sound great and it always brings a smile to see him playing it.

I've got the wiring diagrams from Hohner - I'll post them later.

I was swapping out the battery from my B2A last night and teh positive (red) battery connect was suddenly just floating freely in there. I can't see any obvious places where it's come away and lft solder scars. Anyone know?

I had an SR5 for a couple of weeks. Lovely neck, great build quality, cool looks. Couldn't do a thing with it; thumb too far back for me and no matter what setting I used the sound wasn't me and the drummer gave me a jolly good talking to about how essential it is to have a thumping bass in big soul band.
Copeland is one of my favourite all round musicians. One of the first records I ever bought was a puke green vinyl 10" EP with... and on it. He played all the instrument on it. I do appreciate Sting's playing but he never got any better than being that freaky Harkonnen in Dune and ambassador for the tantric orgasm. IMHO
I was playing that EP a coupel of weeks ago. Grandelinquent is fantastic - the whole thing is brilliant.

What's pricing like? These will have to go a bit to come near Elixirs. I've tried a couple of others, DR Long Life (wooly), the D'Addario (?) ones, some cheapies from the US and none of them measured up to Elixir for long life.

Lakland Duck Dunn Skyline or Japanese Fender Precision?
Sean replied to Linus27's topic in Bass Guitars
The DD with a Fralin pickup will give you a JJ Burnel or a Jamerson type sound depending how you EQ your amp, as will the Jap Fender P. They'll both give you the sound you want but I'd say that the Lakland would have the better quality pick ups, the Japan P pup is a bit thin but some come with US pups. DDs are great basses as all all Laklands. -
I'm stripping a B2 and will not be using the existing pots/controls. Let me know if you need anything: having said that it is passive, they could be different and as the pickups are dead I have not tested what is the problem yet! Also had a dodgy tuner so replaced it but had to buy 4, have 3 spare tuners and 4 bridges too!
Are you doing this up as a project?

http://www.status-graphite.com - follow the link and your nose to find the double ball end strings - fab strings and brilliant value too. I'd suggest contacting Hohner and seeing if they can help. Tell them that that it's an older model with the XLR output.
I'm really looking for a 5 string one of these, but might be interested in this one if we can agree on a price. Would there be a deal on offer for cash, and does it come with a case or is it still in cardboard? cheers
Hi Gareth, It's brand new still boxed - maybe I didn't make that clear It doesn't come with a case. cash is what we're looking for, unfortuantely credit terms are no longer available. Price I'm advertising at is cash on collection or delivery can be thrown in. It's a brand new untouched bass and a hell of lot cheaper than anywhere. If you're really looking for a five string, go for one. Also there are usually a few of these knocking about on ebay. Why not go to "Introductions" and tell us a bit about yourself!
There's a cheap listing option called something like 'picture pack' which gives you about 5 pics plus enlarged views etc. Looks really nice by the way
You can also add pics with the HTML feature by putting links in to where the picture is stored - it's similar to adding a picture file to a post on BC and you don't get charged the extra by the banditos that are the robbing ebay bastardos.
is that model very heavy? i like the headstock arrangement...and erm...you have the D string the wrong way round on the peg...i think be watching this one and a big bump from me cheers
It's very light, actually. Previous owner had the string the wrong way round on the tuner - these pictures were taken just after I got it. He also thought the bass was broken when in fact all it needed was a new pre-amp battery.
