Hmmm.... I wonder if Arbiter will do a 'silly sale' on the Spectors they have left? Not that I need any more you understand.... Another interesting development is that Amazon are now officially selling Spectors.... see here: Amazon Spectors
Amazon are acting as a sort of agent for Musician's Friend. I bought a Steinberger part from Amazon and it actually came from MF and all teh customer service was through them. Part still hasn't arrived.
Hmmm... news to me... I'll check into it...
This is what my emailsaid...
We have a few Spector Euros left but are running pretty thin on the ground. Spector have stopped distributing in the UK so we won't be getting anymore anytime soon. To find the latest colours and prices please call our sales hotline on 0870 067 1234.

Fair enough. That's weird because Reverb are Arbiter, so they were already giving themselves preferential prices on Spector. There's no announcement been made to the trade press, which is usually where this sort of rumour ends up first.
Interesting. Maybe it's BS to try and and shift some stock by creating some panic buying. No chance of that from me at the moment. Other (less interesting) fish to fry.
It hasn't http://www.arbiter.co.uk/spectorbass/index.htm
I was told that they have stopped by a Reverb store this afternoon. No details given just that they don't expect the situation to last long once people start shouting.

Apparently Spector are no longer being distributed in the UK. Reverb have a few Euros left at a reasonable price but nothing like what what was being offered in the summer.
Oh he didn't try and sell you something, did he? He seems to try and do that a lot, but I don't know why.
He's the king cnute that sold Lindsey Buckingham that god-awful guitar he uses - what a joke. And "How much!?"

Lakland's "Signature" model endorsees all play USA Laklands except Darryl Jones who for the past five years has played Skylines. This year he has had a US DJ4 built, you can see him playing solo on it here

I put Elixirs on mine now. Used to Use DR Long Life but they go dead much quicker. Elixirs are pretty long too.
-
When I saw them at the Apollo in Feb 07 I noticed that Mike P looked very awkward playing and a few peopel there were discussing it. It actually looked like he was struggling with his fretting hand. So he looked uncomfortable back then.

I've got two DJ4s, one rosewood and one maple and there naff all difference really to cloth-eared idiots like me and 95% of bassists. I have Aero pups on the one and Chi-Sonics on the other and they are both fabulous. I have the rosewood/Aeros one with flats on it and the Maple/Chi one is my main gigging bass with Elixirs. Do like the man say and buy Alan's - you'll have people creaming over it for years. I want another one to modify but I'm just not ready yet. Also, Laklands are so consistent that you can buy unseen with confidence, no problem.
They seem to specifically denote the new high mass bridge as such – so I guess it's the same as the old one... unfortunately.
I've checked out one of these and they are a vast improvement on the old "bent piece of tin" They are comparable to what is fitted on the Jap Aerodynes. Still not enough to make me ditch the Laklands though!

"Fender" P, "Orginal Countour Body" .. hummmm
Sean replied to OldGit's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
The grain of the headstock is all wrong for a Fender too. -
Good catch! That's easily as good as the £95 BIN on a mid-nineties ATK I fluked last year.

"Fender" P Special reliced with a power sander,
i thought that maybe you lads would like to see this!
What are we looking at? The "relic" has longer tuning machine posts... -
Looks like someones going to get a bargain
Sean replied to Currrls's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
Someone got a right bargain here. This one is sickening. Why do people end listings at such silly times of the day? Great for people on shifts or a day off but not good for the seller or peopel who have 730am - 430pm jobs like me! -
Nice one
Sorry if you got the wrong end of the stick there, Chris (my fault). I missed out by a whisker but I've got a good idea where it went. -

Yeah, I was in there. Can't guess who got it! -
BGM,A pretty lame issue AFAIC
+1 The 30 basses under £200 feature! That was just a cut and paste from catalogues, it's not even as if anyone tested and rated them. I'm sure anyone in the market for a sub-£200 bass would do far better just using google. I subscribe and am feeling that the quality has slipped. The spelling and grammar is appalling throughout the magazine and it really irritates me, theyare producing a magazine not ranting on a forum! The interview with Jack Bruce was below par; if I'd have had some time with him, I wouldn't have been asking him at length about all his gear and why he doesn't play short scales anymore, there's so much more that can be got from an interview with the great JB. I probably won't renew the subscription.
Could this be easily routed for a PJ configuration? if so I may be very very very tempted.
I've seriously looked into this as one of my perverted long term aims is to have DJs with all sorts of pup configs. Sick to some but it makes perfect sense to me. You would need to get someone good to route the P shape in it and get hold of another pickguard from Jeannie's (best place) which was blank and let the people who do the routing cut that for you. The biggest issue with doing the PJ config for me is that P and J pups differ vastly in output; you need to check impedance and try to get a good match otherwise you can end up with what is just a "coloured" P sound with teh J pup dialled in. I've had a few PJs and none of them did the trick fully but the nearest was the PJ configured Aerodyne with Fralins I had. I would get a Lakland VP or an Aero Pe4 for the P pup and leave the Aero J bridge pup in to start with and see how that went. If you felt the J needed a bit more, I'd go with the Aero PJ, which is a P pup in a J config. Confused? I know I am. I think OBBM has had a Lakland routed to take a P from a Darkstar, maybe he'll chime in with some wisdom.
-
I concur! The guy I teach has one one of these and it's very good, I love the neck and the P pup really honks. The J is better than a lot of PJ configured basses I've tried.
-
The SB-2 (PJ config, small P body, J neck)) is available as a G&L made in California or as a Tribute made in the Far East. Both are very different from the L2000 (HH config, large P body, P neck) in either its US or Far East versions. Either way G&L make great basses that have very high build quality and the Tributes are revered as one of the best "offshore" budget brands out there.
