A rare appearance of Amy & the Aviators in a pub. Beautiful setting up on the Gloucester - Berkley canal, good food, great ciders and think they even have beer (cold, pale, fizzy and warm, brown, flat types) for those who are of that persuasion. AATA are primarily a function band, fronted by the very sexy Amy J in her littleblack dress. The Aviators air crew perform their backing duties in full customised flying suits and deliver a hugely entertaining and polished show.
MB1. Hey Sean!....what tracks did the zend! use this for???
Dunno about the studio but he always used one live - it was mainly for the envelope filter sounds it has I believe.

Black for me.

I love mine it's great. Brilliant effects for what I use. Great backup DI and volume pedal is always useful as is the tuner, drum patterns and portability as a practise amp. Oh yeah and it's great as a soundcard/interface.

I know a lot of people who worship Stuart Zender go bananas for these things so I thought I'd alert you all to it. http://www.stringsdirect.co.uk/products/33...cessor_ex_demo_

Lakland Skyline Darryl Jones 4. I've been so impressed with mine over the year that I've had it that I just had to get a spare. "Honestly Love, if the one breaks a string during a song the rest of the song wouldn't sound right on another type of bass and I don't want to be the one to let the whole band down."

I got an ATK400 and love it - there's a review of it here... http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...p;hl=ibanez+atk

Ashdown ABM500 Evo II Head and ABM 414H Cab (4 Ohm Version) £250 Fantastic condition - always stored in cover. Cover included for cab was made by amplifiercoversonline.co.uk and is a top quality piece of kit. Collection or meet halfway (for fuel cast) if reasonable distance. I'm in Gloucester and you're more than welcome to view it and try it out. Any questions, you know what to do... Thanks Sean

I recently recorded with my DJ4 (identical to this one) and have had a lot of complements on the sound of it on the recording. The sound engineer loved the thing and there were moments when I thought I wasn't going to get it back!!! ;-) It really breathes well and is growly and sounds exactly like a bold Jazz type bass should. They are generally very light and comfortable and the necks are really special. I wouldn't be without mine.
Also, on the new music front, there's thousands (millions) born every year for whom old music is new music. It could be the case that at your next gig, you might play Mustang Sally and someone there will be hearing it for the very first time.
I agrre absolutely, Pete and I would add to that the fact that a lot of younger people who are into music don't categorise Jimi Hendrix and Led Zep as "old" music and say Tool as "new" music - it's just all a bunch of stuff all on sale at the same place ready to be bought and enjoyed. Growing up I listened to a hell of a lot of music that was "before my time" (I really dislike that phrase) but was always conscious of what was new and what was old, I think that awareness is disappearing and probably for the best.
I mean I sure as hell wouldn't play Mustang Sally for anyone, but that's just having standards.
What if you were invited to jam with one of your heroes and it just so happened that the song chosen was Mustang Sally? Extreme example but just say...
get yourself a nice Compressor pedal - the EBS multicomp is awesome. It'll help give you that boost to hep the slap stuff cut through.... Dave
+1 - I use the same pedal and once you have found the right setting for you you'll come through with whatever bass you have. If you can try recording your songs at rehearsals with different compressor settings making a note of where the knobs are and listening back and then choosing what works for you. Good ole trial and error - cos sometimes what sounds good to you where you are standing doesn't sound so good out front and vice versa.
Our band have decided to include Road Rage in the set - try as I might I can't find any bass tabs anywhere - can anyone help?
It's on my list to learn too but not for a couple of weeks yet. I'll see if I can work it out and let you have a copy. A good starting point with transcribing is to start with a chord chart which you can get from a tab site for guitar and just play roots on the changes while playing along, this should give you a starting point for working out the structure or at least enables you to jam along until you have the proper bass line. I always get the chord changes down then start looking at the the individual bass figures within the song - most rock songs have a verse figure and a chorus figure and a few bits to join up the sections and a bridge. Have a go and see how far you get - it's a great feeling when you start copping licks by ear.
How do the American ones compare to the Far eastern models? Cheers Steve.
http://www.lakland.com/skyline_vs_us.htm I think that covers your question in enough detail. I have three Skylines and rate them as highly as anything I've ever played. Best bang for the buck on the market especially if you pick up a good second hand one.
But don't you think its a bit cheeky that everyone else nicks the shape? im sure that Leo's humbled buy the amount of manufactures that produce a P or J.... but its a bit lazy.
You can never accuse Gibson of being lazy in their bass designs but they really have never caught people's attention in the same way that the Jazz, Precision and Stingray have. Manufacturers will go to market with what they think will sell - they will try to give the customer what he wants and generally that is what Leo came up with plus (or minus) something. Leo Fender doesn't care anymore but his widow does.
Im not saying i don't like Fenders i fancy an aerodyne for myslef... and i have no doubt in my mind that GB make a better 'Fender' than Fender buy using far more expensive woods and better joining techniques but surely they could have changed the general shape... its just sometimes people get addicted to the shape and its on that promise that GB use the design.
My Laklands are "copies" of Leo Fender instruments and they have different shapes. I think we need to define what is a "copy", what is a "reimagining" and what is something completely different. One thing that's certain is that Leo Fender got it spot on when he designed basses and the majority of manufacturers out there now are making instruments that are hugely Fender influenced if not direct copies. QC on certain manufactures is historically better than Fender too.

I used to play in a classic rock covers band and we turned down loads, especially weddings - you only need one bad experience and a bit of bad judgment to put you off for life. Now it's multiband gigs that we won't do - I just can't bear to go through that equipment change and all the rushing and overruns and having to deal with inexperienced idiots in other bands that have no manners. There's also a minimum fee. No charities, no gigs for friends/family (whatever they offer to pay), no sound limiters and other stuff that may put us off is either already listed here on the thread or we might just get a feeling about the gig/organiser.

Does anyone else get issues with using a B2.1u into an iMac? I get horrible nasty crackles and buzzing instead of nice bassy goodness. When I use my Zoom H4 everything is tickeyboo.
