It's from Jeannie's and it's blue/grey pearl which, well, er, I don't know really... Maybe on a black or white bass? What do you reckon? And updated to... You just have to look past those pink strings! The colour maybe a not to everyone's taste (including mine) but I love these DR Long Life. For me a better feel than Elixirs.

Is that #005? I nearly made a play for that a while back and something came up which meant I was temporarily insolvent. Possibly the nicest P bass I've ever seen.

Carol Kaye said in one of here emails that she has a rule of doing a fill every eight bars if needed, otherwise stick to the groove. JD1's comment is spot on and this is what I try to do now after being guilty over some serious overplaying in the past
Oh my God have bass martians suddenly landed and taken up residence in Surrey?? Have had a look around the site and I love it, just what us bassists need, a pool of unlimited knowledge. Whoohoo! I have been playing bass for the last 5 years, having dabbled in guitar, I decided to be more constructive with the bass, so I took my London College of Music exams up to grade 5. From there, a good friend who is a drummer, and I went to the Academy of Contemporary Music in Guildford Surrey on a part time course. (Fantastic value for money, highly recommended). From there the two of us met up with two guitarists and formed a band. That was 18 momths ago. We play Red Hot Chillies, Stereophonics, Rolling Stones, Green Day, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Feeder, Josh Kelly, Hendrix, Paul Weller and The Cure! Pretty diverse set! I am lucky (or mad enough) to play a Warwick Streamer Stage 1, a 4 string Musicman Singray, and my latest aquisition as of last Saturday is a G&L 5 string L2500 which sounds sooooooooooo nice! I play this through a Warwick Profet 5.1 head linked to a Warwick 4x11 cab. Laters Dudes, Tone Le Bone
Martians are everywhere and yes, they do play bass. Sounds like a great mix of covers you have there. Welcome to basschat especially to your new G&L, they are lovely!

Welcome. I'm sure you'll get a ribbing about the Ashbory!

From my delvings into studying walking bass it seems that it is relatively easy to go from unconscious incompetance to conscious incompetance and then with perseverence one can get to a reasonable standard of conscious competance but the top level of unconscious competance seems like an impossible goal and the whole thing becomes a journey not a destination. And what pepper do we pick out of this flyshit? Practise, practise, practise. Dave Marks has some good foundation exercises for walking bass on his website and one can assume that there are more on the way. My lines are definitely becoming more fluid now that I have some of the basics sorted and this is a great motivator.

You certainly sound like a busy guy. Welcome to the machine.

HI. I'm an ex-pat too. Just moved to Gloucestershire from Wales. Welcome to Basschat!

Someone ought to post that link on the EBMM forum and see what response it gets  I think those villagers will storm the castle with torches and pitchforks if they see that through their blinkers. I can hear Colin Clive now, "It's Alive..."
He's camp?! Lol, lets see a clip!
I can't find anything on YouTube of him talking but when he's interviewed on Classic Albums it's quite a suprise as you expect a real macho southern air to him but he's as camp as the proverbial row of tents. He's like martin Lawrence doing Big Mamma (apparently, it's not something I've seen, obviously, you understand )
and lets not forget... TLA - Three Letter Acronym
Pedant alert: Strictly speaking, TLA is not an acronym it is an initialism. LASER, MODEM, AIDS, RoSPA, OPEC and WAC are acronyms whereas IBM, WWF and BBC are initialisms. And I suppose that makes me a GOM, amongst other things!
read it and weep undefined
I was off the net that week with my house move! I'd have had that just to noodle about on. What a shame!
Not asmuch of a steal as the £225 one contributor to this forum was asking for a ATK405.
A pre-EB Stingray, eh? You can stick around, Terry!

Welcome to basschat. I played in a rockabilly band for a few months once - good times. Great choice of weaponry too.

You've come to the right place Come in and make yourself at home!

Seeing that hasn't quelled my dirty little desire to have Lakland PJDJ4 done, in fact knowing that Shuker can do it almost makes it silly not to. Well that's next year's little project sorted then!
here's a design close to but not the same as my strap the concept is the same but my elasticated part is in a different place and the build quality might be slightly higher, the company mine was from also did heavy weight distributing full leather strap as well whivch the website linked doesn't. padded strap similar to mine but not quite
More than likely a Strapp. I use 'em. Some peopel sell 'em badged up with their own logo I think. It's a gem. Much better than the Korean reissues by all accounts and black/black/maple. It's got a great no nonsense, "get out of my way" look about it. They are a tad heavy from what I remember so those of you who suffer back pain watch out. Go on, you know it makes sense.
