Reduced price £220 (posted to your door!!) - taking a hammering on this one but I want it sold, please don't offer me less for it. This is an exciting little cabinet, a 1 x 12 plus tweeter with very usable kickback possibility, super light and portable, but yet sturdy and gig proof. Now discontinued, the reviews are great and many thought of this as one of Markbass's better cabinets. I find it difficult to price as there are no equivalent for sale at the moment, but I have bought it used from Bass Direct only a couple of months ago for around £320 delivered. When new, the rrp was £550. Bass Direct assured me it had only mostly home use. I never gigged it either and concluded I actually don't need it In my rig. It does have signs of mild use but it works perfectly. I have the box from Bass Direct to send it in, so I'm happy to post. Here's the Markbass link http://www.markbass.it/product-detail/club-121/ I'll trade for a little and light combo with cash my way.

Hi PRICE DROP £270 posted to UK, here for sale is my little Hofner Ignition Beatle bass. These are the far-east made ones, truly hollow-body, like the German made variety. I prefer these to the Contemporary HCT series that have a wooden block in the middle (which arguably defeats the purpose of a Hofner). The bass is in excellent condition: a few years old now so I think the white binding is starting to turn a little vintage white, which looks cool. Only little baby scratches that you can see if turning around against the light, but nothing goes even through the finish. I have 2 original German made and vintage Hofner and I bought this in case I needed to fly, but frankly I can't see that happening this or next year (hoping I just ignited a reverse-curse on myself and now I get booked for an overseas tour!). This particular bass has over £100 spent on mods to make it look like a German on, but also to make it sound much better: - Pyramid golds flatwound strings: the factory standard for a proper Hofner; - A "Made in Germany" Hofner tailpiece; - Genuine Hofner 500/1 bridge assembly; - a pair of vintage style "teacup" volume dials a-la Macca' (the switches have also be enameled to look more the part); - black truss rod cover; - A custom 3-ply Hofner old style nut. If you have vintage Hofners like myself, you will feel the difference in sound and playability, just like a custom shop Fender feels more accomplished in the player's hands than a Mexican made. However, if you are not a Hofner connoisseur, this bass will fool you good and proper: the playability is easy and the pickups sounds very much the part. Plus, I think, it looks incredible and it's so light and enjoyable to play for hours with no back pain. It's done only 3 very civilised gigs and for the rest it's been kept at home. I'm probably gonna use the money towards another German made Hofner as I have the bug now! Anyway, here's a very lovely and cheap upgraded Hofner Igition. It's a cracker, please contact me for any query. PS - I will post anywhere, but it does not have a case, so it will be in a Gibson padded guitar gig bag, which means that half of the headstock will kick out at the top, but I will pad up an "extension" to protect it. I have got a lovely box for it, so it should be ok. TRADES - if you have a German made Hofner you are thinking of selling, talk to me. Also, I'm needing a good 15 cab, tweeter not essential at all. Always keen to hear about a nice amp which can do vintage sound.

Hofner '67 Selmer Era Violin Bass and Case sold pending
Rabbie replied to ash's topic in Basses For Sale
That's right. The Hofner basses of the time are impossible to date as precisely as say Fenders. Things have changed now. Amongst mine, I have one I call a mid 70s 500/1 because it is definitely after 1970 and definitely before 1979. I don't even have the Selmer stamp to go by. Point is if you are going to want it looking exactly like Sir Macca's you have to check every feature and you won't go past 64-65. The 70s tend to be cheaper because of the visual differences to McCartney's one: darker sunburst, black control knobs, metal tuners, blade pickups... But ultimately you are still buying an original, iconic (and idiosyncratic) hand made instrument which is collectible whilst sounding awesome, I haven't seen this one but at the price it seems a no brainer: a vintage bass for the price of mass produced a Asian ones.... -

NO LONGER AVAILABLE- TRADED! In the past couple of weeks I've been experimenting with slab basses which as a DB player is mostly going to end in baldness, which indeed it did for me. I've now realised I shall stick to the upright, or the Hofner or at a push the UBasses. The slabs just don't like me. So, nothing wrong with this bass which the eagle-eyed amongst you will notice I only bought last week from this very forum. It has indeed been around a couple of this forums' esteemed members, and that is a good thing. It is based on the 1975 Fender Jazz I so like the look of, yet it does not like the look of me. The body is a 1970s Greco from Japan The neck is a Japanese all parts lacquered to look vintage which actually plays very very nicely. The pickups are Lindy Fralin (5% overwound for warmth) 90s Mexican Fender tuners And here's the stuff which is alien to me: 3 CTS pots (250k) hand selected to suit the pickups NOS Russian military spec. capacitor PIO 0.047uF Neutrik stereo jack output wired in Mono doubling. (Don't ask me about this stuff, I just copied it from the original listing here http://basschat.co.uk/topic/307033-75-bitsa-jazz-bass-fsft/page__fromsearch__1) And here's for the tasty bit. As you will see from the original listing, the bass was £500 a couple of months ago and was listed for £475 last week. I didn't pay that much, so I am not being greedy and I am passing on the saving. At £390 shipped, This is priced to sell. Trades I hear you ask.... I could do with a nice 12inch cab, one that you can post to me, or come to my house with, I'm in Perth, Scotland. Other than that, it's cold hard money I'm after. Here are some new photos I took this morning.

Price down to £180. Here is a very nice bass for very little money. Mint condition, never been gigged. It looks great (in my opinion). It plays great (fact! - the neck is brilliant, the action is cool and the strings are a good set of flatwound which are about 6 months old, and according to James Jemerson should last you at least another 75 years). It sound great (really great for a £350 bass, although don't expect Fender custom shop at less than 1/10th of the price). If I had the call for it, I wouldn't hesitate to take it along as a very giggable bass. The kind of thing that will get you working with minimal damage to the bank. For £180, I'll even post it, in its own box, and with its own new bass centre gigbag...neat. Thanks guys. Take care.
