    Is it really really flimsy and wobbly? A normal bass can be slapped forever with no need for special re-inforcements, and any luthier can change a fingerboard and set a bridge for slap given basic instructions on what you need. Now, if you stand on it and do stunts, it may be a different matter...

    +1 on what fabbabass says. I have bought stuff from Blast Cult from the UK and I too have found that both Jason and Miguel are great: deal with confidence there.

    Brand New, still in their wrapper! G and D are guts, A and E are very low tension steels. A genius set of strings from the always excellent Blast Cult. I had bought this as a spare set but I don't need it.

[/quote] There are may ways to play any instruments. Take the guitar as a prime example: if they had stuck to the classical technique, we would never have had rock n roll. Likewise, a pristine classical double bass technique will get you nowhere in roots music. Willie played gut strings and high action, yet he did so with such facility because of practice I guess, and also because he was a bloody huge man.

    I see that Clarky has a Lenzner G for sale: someone should try that with my strings above (or even just my Garbos plus Lenzner D and G). Just a helpful thought (and of course a bump)

    They are good for starting out and it is very transportable as it is a small 3/4. All the best

They were fitted to a regular 3/4 bass.

    Hi, the bass I had them on is a Chadwick folding bass, I think very standard 3/4 size. If I get a minute I can measure the string for you later on

    I have had Shadow and Underwood in the past which were great, but now I use either a Rev Solo or a Blast Cult pickup and I find them both excellent. I have tried fancy ones like Ehrlund and DPA mic and I found them terrible for my uses, yet I have seen quieter guys/girls getting great sounds with the fancy ones too.
