1. Yep - the TKS S112 is joint favourite with the Purple Chili V12. S112 is 250W RMS @ 8 ohms, 10 kgs, Looks like this: http://www.tks.se/ Purple Chili V12 is 400w @ 8 ohms, 12.3 kgs, Looks like this: http://finnbass.com/showthread.php?p=175540 Similar prices, similar turnround times.
2. Yes - I remember playing through your Zoots and wanting to buy one off you! Mike is saying that a 112 cab with those drivers comes out at almost 13 Kgs. I'd maybe prefer something a bit lighter and less wattage for rehearsals, and have a pair for gigs. Getting picky now... Steve
3. @stingraypete1977 I have a 210 cab loaded with Eminence Delta 10's and I really like the clear, middy tone I get. I much preferred it over the Compact for gigs because, to me, the Compact tone was a bit too rich and thick, especially with my Fender P. Trouble is, the 210 cab is too unwieldy for rehearsals (stairs...) So, my main need is for something light and powerful enough for use at rehearsals, maybe teamed up with a second cab for gigs so I don't have to wrestle with the heavy 210 cab. 5-piece country-pop band. Rehearsal recordings (through the air recordings, no post mixing) here (no tittering please!): https://soundcloud.c...ella-rossa-band playing pubs, wine-bars, private parties. Sometimes I DI through the PA, but I prefer not to have to rely on that.
4. I've just received a very interesting email from Mike Walsh at Purple Chili. Two 112's, 400W @ 8ohms each, Eminence Delta 12FLA drivers, not sure of the overall cab weight, just within budget. Hmmmm Actually, just one cab of 400W @ 4ohms would probably be OK. I'll ask for a price and weight.
5. While I sit around waiting for a B/F Midget to come up for sale, I'm researching lightweight, 250/300w 112 cabs. Budget max is £600 for two. Outline specs: Weight max = 12kgs, 250/300W minimum @ 8 ohms, tweeter not necessary, prefer new but good secondhand also OK List so far, in decreasing order of desire; Secondhand B/F Midget New TKS S112 errr Secondhand Tecamp XS112 (I've seen Scooby's for sale ad, thanks) New Fender Rumble 112 I've dropped Mike Walsh a line at Purple Chili to see what he has. I've looked at used Bergs, Epifani, Schroeder, etc but I'm not finding anything that fits within the 250W/12kgs/£300 parameters. Anything I've missed? Steve
6. I'm happy to pick it up if somebody buys it. Steve

8. Just emailed the seller. Apparently, it's sold.

12. 9 miles from where I live, in case anybody wants me to pick it up for them: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ibanez-blazer-bass-guitar-/141361937368?&_trksid=p2056016.l4276
13. I might be interested in one of these if you decide to sell them separately.
14. Thanks - I'll send the info to our singer. I think it may be a little too complicated for her, but she can make up her own mind.

16. If you do decide to sell, I'd be interested in the P110C cab. Might even be interested in the combo, but not both.
17. Might be interesting if you like the Trace Elliot vibe. http://www.gumtree.com/p/for-sale/trace-elliot-7215-smc-gp7-15-300watt-bass-combo-including-matching-bass-speaker-cabinet/1072733664
18. All PMs replied to. Looks like it's sold, folks. Obviously, the PHAB technology has been a massive selling point. Lots of people have asked, but I'm not intending setting up a mass-production facility. However, a comprehensive kit containing a full set of plans, carpet, glue, knicker elastic, velcro, buttons, needle and thread and a load of swear words will shortly be available for £79-99. Steve
19. NOW SOLD, pending... Folks, Having switched to a 210, my Compact's not getting enough use to justify keeping it. In case you don't know all about these amazing cabs, here's the official specs: http://barefacedbass.com/product-range/compact.htm The one I'm selling has the fancy silver cloth front to which Alex added custom white piping when he was checking it over for me. The result is a very smart retro-ish look. See photos. The cab has one speakon connector. The exciting thing is that the cab comes with revolutionary "PHAB" - Performance Hardware Accident Buffer (patent pending) - technology. I believe this is totally unique to this cab - see photos. It is a bespoke logistics management system created to fully protect the cab in transit. It works beautifully, and the cab is in virtually as-new condition with all the original corners, handle and fittings. It even comes with a cleverly designed "Face mat" which sits in front of the cloth front inside the case for added protection and then neatly transforms into an acoustic de-coupling mat! Yes! A totally unique one-off, which I'll sell for £350. I'd consider a trade for a Barefaced Midget or something that's equally powerful and light. 20. Thanks. Looks like the TC Helicon R1 might be just what she's after.
21. Folks, Normally, our singer uses a dry signal with a touch of reverb via the mixing desk. Yesterday, the venue's PA had no built-in effects and that slightly threw her. She's on the lookout for a simple, straightforward, cheap-but-decent vocal effects unit. In reality, the only thing she really needs is reverb. She does not want or need a pitch controller. Suggestions, please! Thanks, Steve
22. Having put various points of view forward, and having enjoyed this debate and reading the opinions of others, I felt I had little more of value to contribute, so I was more than happy to move on. However, I feel that I have been misrepresented by Jake's last post and I take exception to being called narrow minded on this topic. This, I feel, needs a response. I have carefully re-read all of my posts and I am genuinely amazed that what I have said has been interpreted as narrow mindedness. My post no 52, for example, seems to me to accept the pros and cons of dots and tabs. @Doddy You say it's no secret that you don't like tab, and in your sig you describe yourself as a "tablature disapproval specialist". Nowhere have I said that I don't like dots and I most certainly wouldn't describe myself as a "dots disapproval specialist". Good grief. I have absolutely no idea what you mean by; "...I think that trying to argue with people like Jake that tab is as useful as notation is kind of a bad idea." I'm happy that I've had my say and contributed to this discussion. I don't feel I have much more I can add, so I don't intend to say much more. That said, I will, if I feel my opinions or views are being misinterpreted or misrepresented. Steve
23. @ Jakenewmanbass I am very surprised that you suggest I am denying you the freedom to feel how you do about your choices. I cannot find that in any of my posts. You and I have different views on the usefulness of TABS and I've enjoyed the debate. Nowhere have I accused you of narrowness of thinking or stubbornness, and I have certainly not asserted that you should keep your views to yourself. "... if you want to cut it as a professional player then realise what is needed to reach that level. There may well be budding pro's reading these boards." My view would be that was is required to play at a professional level, is to play at a professional level. As long as you produce the goods, does it really matter the process you use to do so? Live and let live, say I. I think I'm done with this now. Steve
24. Help is at hand! Bass Tabs for Git it here: http://www.bigbassta...of_horrors.html Might save you a bit of time. Don't take the TAB as gospel though - you'll have to listen to the song as well to enable you to play it to the standard required. Still, that will ensure you get pretty familiar with the song.
