    Thanks for all these helpful comments. Since I'm useless with anything remotely technical, I think I'll heed the warnings here and stay away from cobbling things together in some sort of heath-robinson lash-up. If it can go BANG, it will do if I'm around. The Marshall is very enticing at that price. Will somebody please buy my SWR, (make me an offer around £180) so I can go and buy the Marshall? Steve

    Hi, I already have an SWR LA15 100w combo. Here's the technical spec. I don't really want to sell the SWR since it's vrtually new, and it's a good, portable practice amp. So - is there a way I could link the SWR to give me, say, 300W?     My learning curve continues... I bought this combo new 3 months ago to replace my 20w practice amp. The SWR is a belter - 100w of rich, classic SWR tone. I've only used it for bedroom practice and for 3 rehearsals, so there's not a mark on it anywhere. I still have the original delivery box for it. Basically, it's "As new" It's a smashing practice/rehearsal amp because it's portable (great top-edge handles) and gives such a rich tone. However, to be honest, it's not loud enough for pub gigs. So, I need to upgrade. I'm looking to sell it for £155 or trade it for a good, light powerful combo (Mark Bass mini CMD?? cash + cash adjustment), or trade it for a small, lightweight, pwerful head/amp worth up to £350, plus cash adjustment. I'm in Stockport. I'm happy to drive to meet somebody within 30 miles to hand the SWR over. It could be packed and couriered too. Thanks, Steve

    I've discovered that these have very narrow necks, and so probably won't suit my big hands. Still looking for that good, cheap, passive (up to £250) P-type bass with J-type sounds... Steve

Do you have a clear picture of the decal on the headstock, please - it's a bit indistinct in your photos, and I can'y make out what it actually says. Also, is there some sort of case or gigbag with it? The really tricky bit is a value. Here's my thinking: Musicman prices are low right now. Good secondhand ones can be had for £470, according to Basschat In fact secondhand prices of just about everything seem to be low at the moment 2 year old OLP MM2 sold for £100 on ebay yesterday. Of course, yours would be worth more than this. I was considering a 4 month old Fender Mark Hoppus on ebaY. It failed to sell at £310. So, all ends up, I reckon yours is somewhere between £100 for the OLP MM2 and £470 for a good Musicman Stingray. Tricky, really... I'd like to speak to Jim Cairns just to get the history of your bass - I'll try to contact him tomorrow. In the meantime, I'd like to offer you £275 with a gigbag. I'll sort out a courier if you could pack it securely for me. I hope you can see my reasoning here! Please let me know what you think. That neck looks lovely... Steve
