http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h266/pab...en/Newboard.jpg
is that one of those stagg boards? if so does your carpet rip off? mine does also are you just using your EQ as a boost? matt -
im in a drum and bass band but we dont really play "drum and bass" as such. i use a tech21 comptortion, a line 6 echo park and an Akai Headrush. that is what i use for our indie, minamilist approach. although all those effects are extremly versatile. to me the echo park is something i can't live without. matt
Matt - If it's the headstock shape you're after for J-style bass, then you'll be wanting a Kramer neck with 20 frets. However as you can see from the photo you posted the neck attachement is quite a bit different to Fender's. I would imagine that the neck pocket will need some attention and you might be better off having a J-style body made to fit the neck.
i was actually planning getting a body made for it anyway so thats not an issue. however i am not a fan of chunky necks (small hands) which is a bit of a kaffufle so i may turned away from this, but i'll still try and contact some luthiers about it. thanks, matt
-
dangerboy, thanks for the offer, but unfortunatly im only after the neck. i plan on getting another body built for it. but after your post i just realised, aren't all the aluminium necks thru necks? so it wouldn't work would it? matt
-
hey bigredX, i'm not that bothered about the neck, although i am rather fond of the tuning fork headstock thing. do you think those luthiers would build an aluminium neck to fit a jazz? i want a normal sized neck so it could be like a normal neck of a fender. matt
-
hey, i really want an aluminium bass neck like this: can you buy them new these days or are they just available secondhand? thanks, matt

i dont really see the point in it? what does it do? just wack the treble up!

a few questions on the aguilar GS112
matt_citizenbass replied to matt_citizenbass's topic in Amps and Cabs
thanks for your help guys. i thought it might be a bit too good to be true really. but i guess i might go for something a bit bigger purely because i dont want to spend all that money only to find out that the cab starts to struggle when i crank it. ps rodl2005 i love your avatar, absolute class! -
hey, im looking for a new cab probably at the end of this month. preferably i'd want a 4ohm cab but this cab is mainly for the next year or so until i can get a car/van and also currently my drummers room (where my band practice) is up 4 flights of stairs so i want something small! now, this is almost a stupid question but if i buy an aguilar GS112 is it really going to cut through the mix and produce a nice tone compared to a 410 or something of a similar price range. i know you guys are always going on about it, i guess i have to hear and see it to believe it. but logic tells me " well its a bit bigger than a marshall mgfx10 watt amp so it must sound like that" also is it really worth buying the one with the tweeter in? is there much difference? and can the cab really be driven? i know its good for really nice smooth tones and slap etc but i require full range heavily distorted bass so i wanna know if you think it'll sound alright/ not give way. and lastly the cab is 8 ohms and is about 300 watts ( correct me if i am wrong) and the hartke 3500 is about 180-200 watts at 8ohms is this enough headroom or should i be looking for more? phew, sorry , essay over. matt
