Ebay/Paypal refunds, do you think I'm eligable???
voxpop replied to Johnny Hoof's topic in General Discussion
So, at the end of last month I bought an old sound city 200 watt bass head off a guy on ebay, it wasn't the most detailed listing ever but there were no problems or issues noted and the guy had 100% positive feedback off 200and something sales. I paid over the odds for the head as I've been looking for ages and thought, due to the seller (who operate as a shop and even manufacture their own amps) this was a safe bet. Basically, bought the head, the guy sent it via parcel2go. The amp arived in a carboard box with one sheet of bubble wrap around it, the back panel is hanging off and the chasis is only attached to the cabinet by one, almost entirely ripped out of the wood, screw so it is free to move around inside. The valves were not taken out or protected with anything. Also, this head can take four valves and there are only two in it, I know that heads can run with only two but I think that I should have been told by the seller....its a bit like buying a car and it only turning up with two seats isn't it? The guy who sent it seems like a decent enough guy so I don't want to try and reclaim unnecessarily, he reckons any damage is the couriers fault but they're looking like theyre not going to pay any compensation because a claim has to be made within 14 days of COLLECTION with Pacel2go and there were loads of issues getting the package delivered as on the initial delivery attempt no card was left so i never knew it had happened and we've run out of time to claim. What do you guys reckon? Is it worth me trying to claim back through paypal? I've been speaking to the seller trying to get the money back through parcel2go but i think we've hit a dead end with that. I've never claimed back through paypal so I don't know how it works.... Let me know your thoughts please. I sold a bass through ebay and sent it with UK Mail. They damaged the bass and the buyer put a PayPal claim on me. I thought this was unfair and contacted PAYPAL. There answer shocked me...the BUYER has the right to put a claim against the seller if the goods are NOT AS EXPECTED, this can mean damage in transit the wrong goods sent or just simply not wanted. They took back the money from me, and credited the buyer while I battled with UKmail for a damage claim. Paypal does not protect the seller, it is designed to protect the BUYER.............You have the right to put a claim in and the seller will have to sort out the damage with the postal service...if he had it insured. The down side it could take you up to 3 months to recover the money as the seller could delay the claim. Hope this helps.....................PAYPAL can be your best friend or the biggest nightmare of all time, believe me I've been there. Thanks.
-
Crafter Congress Fretless 5 string with EMG soapbars - SOLD
voxpop replied to hubrad's topic in Basses For Sale
Hi y'all, While my headless(!) Ibanez was off the road for refurb, http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=44673 I got this excellent Crafter as a stopgap. Other band members were well impressed, and at the time my wife said I should keep it even just for the look of it! Honest, she's not that shallow. The gap is now well and truly filled, so I'm thinking that somebody else should get to enjoy the Crafter. I spent about £150 getting the EMGs to upgrade it - 40P5 and 40J - but can reinstate the original pickups, which were perfectly ok, I'm just used to EMG quality. Vol, Blend and Tone with a dummy 4th pot. 18V 2xPP3. Original wiring was 2 Vol and 2 Tone. Also the original strings were rubbish, so now strung with Picato flats 45-105 and a 130 Elite which I had lying around at the time. I did half a dozen gigs and a couple of practices on it; condition is pretty much as new. 34" scale, 19mm spacing at bridge. I'm thinking of £220 with the original pickups, £370 with the EMGs, incl mainland shipping. HUGH
Hi Hugh, I will have the EMG 40p5 off you if the bass sells with the original pickups. Thanks Marc -

I have for sale BGW 750E power amp. It is 4 units high and heavy due to its classic old school design. It was very highly regarded in the 90's as a classic studio and PA amp.Sting used these BGW amps during his stadium tours with the police. I have used this amp EVERYDAY for the last 2 years in my home HI-Fi system. It has a few marks and scratches and works perfectly. Power is around 300 watts per side into 8 ohms. It is supplied with Chord Company Cream cables ( XLR to Mono jack ) worth £65.00 and a instruction manual covering use and technical service instructions. This is a real beast of an amp. It has two scratches one large at the back where it was marked when removing it from a rack and the other small paint marks on the top front lip where it knocked against another amp. It is really heavy at 37KG !!!!!!!!!!!!
She didn't like it one bit, sorry mate. What speakers and front ends do you use?
Hi Steve, This amp can 'drive' any speaker you throw at it. I've had £7000 Kef referance right through to a small pair of Spendor studio speakers, It works with any speaker and with any load due to its massive power supply......its awesome. Do you want to haggle on the price........................will she like it better?? Marc

I have for sale a boxed Meridian 559 300 watt stereo power amp... This amp cost me £2600.00 3 years ago......grab a bargain. Thanks.
Hi! I might be interested in your Spector. Can you tell me why did you change the preamp? What does it change compared to the original one? As for the offer, I have an Ibanez K5 which could be exchanged (+money from me). I can also imagine a direct buy (but I need to sell that K5). Thanks!
The original Spector tone pump preamp has bass and treble BOOST only. Changing the preamp to the EMG, which match the pickups perfectly , adds extra clarity and CUT / BOOST to the bass and treble.
Hey, do you have any full pictures of the front of the bass? I'm very interested in this, but I need to sell my own Euro 5LX to buy it. (Want one in red )
As requested a full frontal..........

Up for sale is my much loved Spector Euro 5xl. I'm selling it to fund another 5 string Spector. I have upgraded the pre to a very tasty 18 volt EMG BT system. Bass, treble cut and boost. I've given up posting basses, as the last one was smashed by the postage service. So I will drive up to 100 miles from Reading free or the buyer can arrange to pick it up. Any questions just get in touch. Price £690.
