Okay, so tone pump has arrived (cheers voxpop!) and before I solder I've 'mocked up' the circuit by twisting wires together. Was getting output but the pots were having no effect so have I connected something in a way to bypass the pots? I had red pickup wire - red wire on battery clip (connected to tone pump) Bare pickup wire - ground on volume pot (ground then goes to tone pump) Black wire on battery clip - sleeve on output jack Earth from tone pot - ring or tip (can't remember now) on output jack And only unconnected output from tonepump - ring or tip on output jack I've got a picture and will post later, forgot to upload to photo bucket last night. Cheers!
Glad it arrived safely.......... Cant help on the wiring though, I just took it out and popped in the EMG. Im sure someone on this site can help..............? Thanks Marc
I have a Spector USA NS5-XL which, as far as i knew, had the Tone Pump fitted. However I've just been reading the owner's manual and it says the controls do not ahve any center detents & mine certainly do. Does this mean I actually don't have the Tone Pump fitted? I haven't really played much with the controls but they sound like they are centred with both boost & cut as opposed to a more direct boost only circuit?
My NS5-XL is the same , its not a Tone Pump. I think its a EMG thing designed by Spector. I've removed the Tone Pump on my Euro and replaced it with an EMG BTS system, sound is much better IMHO. Marc
You know this thing... Trace's simply brilliant dual band compressor from their SMX amps, but in a handy stamp-on-it sized metal box. In common with soooooo many of its brothers/sisters, this one is missing its battery compartment cover. Just do what I did and put some gaffa over the hole Other than this, it is in excellent cosmetic condition and of course works brilliantly. This really is the best compressor you could ever put under your foot. I have noticed that one of the battery clips has a slightly loose wire -- it still works, but is not how I'd want it, so this clip will be replaced before it leaves me. £40 posted, anyone?
I will have it....PMed

I have for sale my much loved Sandberg Thinline Custom. It has a very unique design as it has a HOLLOW body the creates a very WOODY mid range sound with tight bass and articulate highs. This wonderful bass took Sandberg 9 months to build and cost £2000 with all the non standard mods. Postage is £29 insured, can also meet half way within 90mins of Reading. The only blemish is a small mark in the top of the head stock. NECK.............................................5 x bolted / canadian hardrock maple FRETBOARD................................................................rosewood, fretted SCALE...............................................................................864 mm / 34’’ BODY........................ mahogany / walnut / quilted maple top / hollowbody FINISH..........................................................................................matt HARDWARE......................................................................gold sandberg BRIDGE........................................................................... ........Wood PICKUP............................................................ ..........1 Delano soapbar PREAMP ........................................... ..sandberg 3-band, active / passive PREAMP EXTRAS..........................Burford mid choke and coil tap switches The Buford mid choke is a very interesting device, it works best in passive mode were a small amount of decrease on the volume knob takes out a large chunk of the mid range and top. This give a very woody thump sound...great four R&B, blues and rock. If you put it back to active mode the sound is more modern and it can be tweaked with the 3 band EQ. Best of both modern and old school in one very unique bass.

Most people have noticed the M6 has so much stage volume, it can be to much. So, I've just changed the stock Mesa 12AX7-A for a lower gain ( about 70% ) Jan Philips 12AT7-WC. The difference is huge.......a little less volume and a much more rounded focused sound. It has lost a little drive and power but gained a more refined and natural sound. Hope this helps. Marc

Ive got the M6 head and its FAB. Very punchy with a lean, quick and detailed sound and loads of BALLS... Marc
