1. ive got this kit. paid a lot more then £800 for them too. They sound great, can play them in a band situation too. Good luck with the sale buddy
2. Cheers Eude! Money is on its way. Stoked
3. Gotta admit, Chris is a really sound guy to deal with, I bought his Marshall Rig off him and he is well trusted. Wish I had that kinda cash to buy it myself. id love to try a 7 Best of luck with the sale mate. I know you take real care with your basses, ive seen you at gigs making sure they stay away from anyone who might bump them. Peace.
4. Still waiting.... your sister done her job yet?
5. couldnt think what to title it. im on my 4th amp now in 3.5 years of playing, finally figuring out what "tone" is and how to eq. Ive had my Zoom b2.1 for a good 2 years now and I love it to pieces, used to use 1-2 settings on it (the ampeg one a0, and the flea/ampeg one c4, maybe c2 for a bit of distortion but I didnt realy like it too much) But now ive actually bought an Ampeg SVT3 pro with a 610Hlf cab to use with my flea bass, I havent needed to use my zoom at all except to tune it. had a play around with it again today to find some new tones ect, and I cant find one usuable tone I like with the pedal. im so happy plugging straight into the head and playing. hi+low boost, 3/4 gain, just under half vol and 3/4 tube gain. it just sounds perfect, my eq is flat on my head and the bass. I add a little treb every now and then if im slapping, and a bit of eq on the mids dependent on the room. I always thought id be constantly messing about with pedals but apart from a tuner, I really dont think im going to need to use any pedals with my current set up. Anyone else done this?
6.
That player is pretty rotten to be fair. I think in the rights hands the bass would sound a load better (and in fairness, its not all that bad) G
He does have some choise places to anchor his thumb. Really not a fan of it at all. looks terrible, its not cheap, sounds terrible. Ill stick to my Modulus Flea
7.
Orange. Or go the doodle route and go flip-paint.
I wanted flip paint for mine, purple into a burnt orange. Spoke to the car paint place who said id need to mix up 3-4 liters if I wanted it to flip a lot. but as its nearly £100 a liter and I dont think I used 1/4 of a liter to do mine, its a bit of a waist. I did find some cool paint though @ Autopaint. you get this effect... im thinking doing a white undercoat for my next project, or maybe an orange under the purple.
8. If I can sell my drums ill let you know.
9. wow, just wow. I love the paintwork and it goes really well with the maple neck. ooo, white blocks in the neck would look sick. altho im 80% sure MM dont do blocks, I may have to confirm that cause im thinking blocks for my franken J I wanna make soon. Good job!
10. why did I get laid off? why did I just book another 10 days holiday to Germany? since I saw this in the porn thread I did have to change my pants. such a LOVELY bass. when I was talking to you about getting shuker to make me a bass it had very very similer specs to this, it would be my perfect bass.... how about if you ever need a kidney ill donate you mine? Im seriously considering selling my Flea to pay for it. I never thought id ever say that
11. not sure this is the best method but it mostly works for me, I play the whole song on the A string, listen for the first note and play each note on the A string till you hit it, I just keep skipping the song back. then the next note you can hear if its higher or lower, so skip down or up till you hit the next note. then when ive got a bit together, I change it from 1 string and move it over all 4 dependent on the pitch. I learnt love with tear us apart by doing it, learnt it on the E+A string couldnt figure out what was wrong, turns uot its played on the D+G string, was correct when I looked at the tabs tho. quite satisfying doing it by ear, but unless its a very simple song, I get on ultimate-guitar.com
12.
I always found "Get up and jump" by the chillis never sounded right
just downloaded the guitar pro tab for that song. I havent even bothered picking up my bass to attempt to learn it. I hate songs with those muted tap things. dont mind the odd one in easy places like "mellowship slinky in major B" but doing a double one scares me. I cant do them when I play slap, dont know if I should be tapping the pickup or the neck 99% of the time. I should really get slap lessons. anyways. yeah. Aeroplane by RHCP for me. the chorus bit it "quite easy" but for some reason no matter how much I read the guitar pro tab, listen to it, slow it down. still cant get the 3-5-3-5 and the 5-7-5-7 out of the first bar no matter how much I try, prob a very bad technique. I can do it really slow. soon as I try and speed it up it goes mental. 13. I have a feeling people didnt read the original thread and voted 2nd hand because they prefer 2nd hand basses rather then saying I should buy the Aerodyne 2nd hand. humm
14.
Apologies for hijacking this thread, but I've ocasionaly played the acoustic against an acoustic guitar (late party, bonfire in the garden, etc etc) and found it terribly wanting, needing some serious digging in to get the level up (I'm talking about grabbing the string with thumb and forefinger and snaping it onto the fretboard to be heard!) Has anyone got any suggestions? My current thoughts are: 1) get hold of a double bass (not very practical for campfires). Or 2) try out a Mariachi bass (one of those huge jobbies usually seen in mexican combo's) Has anyone tried one of these Mariachi's? is it likely to be loud enough? I know I could search the interweb, but I'd rather hear of any experiences of you lot - i.e. people who's opinion I trust (well, a bit more than the stuff on the interweb in general)
try one of those tiny belt clip on marshall amps. they sound TERRIBLE, but at least its loud enough to keep up and it uses batterys.
15. the bass in the link is semi accoustic, or whatever you call it, it WONT be loud as it doesnt have the cut away hole in the body. that bass will need to be pluged in to play so you may as well stick with an electric as they are more comfortable. FYI Accoustic basses wont be loud enough to play with a accoustic guitar even with a pick. If she just wants to pick up and noodle by herself id suggest going to a bass shop and picking up a tanglewood, generally about £200 ish, play a few and get a feel for it, the bodys vairy and she needs to find something that suits her. plus find one with a decent setup. Ive found most accoustic's ive played have a massive action. found them much harder to play then an electric. but all this is in my honest opinion.
16.
This guy is in Bristol but it's custom paint jobs so a plain high gloss may not be his cuppa http://www.randomworx.co.uk/spraypaint%20gallery.html However any custom car or bike shop should be able to do it.
+1 on the car/bike shop. any garage should be able to do it tbh, my dads a mechanic/body repair man. and he did mine and made a good job of it.
17.
The Seymour Duncan Basslines 1/4 pound Split-P is another good choice.
+1 im more then happy with mine.
18. anything under £200 for a MIM is spot on really. shame about the dent though.
19.
I'd try to get the seller of the secondhand one to give the price a bit of a haircut to make it a more attractive deal.
Was thinking that but on ebay and on here they have all previously gone for £475-500 so I didnt wanna be cheaky as delivery is free. I dont think £500 is a bad price concidering those facts. just supprised these basses keep their price so well. £500 is a decent price, but £600 new is Musicman 2nd hand prices and id love a stirlin for a while. altho ive just got rid of an amazing 'ray so maybe I shouldnt. lol
20. Drunkenly putting a bass in my guitar stand I hit my P bass which I painted. the bass I hit it with was fine, but my P was pretty hurt. cant see on the pic but you can see the green thats underneith and the lacker has bubbled up too.
