1. I went for the premium with insurance last week by request of the buyer. nearly £40. they did this to it.... I wouldnt trust them as far as I could throw them now. and by the looks of it, they throw around their packages. its a musicman case.. they are ment to take some hammer but this takes the piss a little! in talks with them now for compo
  2. Never even thought about a capo on a bass before. just sat for the last 20 mins figuring out the pro's cons. Took me 15 mins to decide dropping the tuning down 1/2 a step for GnR covers and slapping on a capo on the first fret for all other songs would get confusing. thinking about it tho, slapping it on the 7th fret would make it BEAD. Stupid question but an open B on a 5 string will sound dif to an open B on the capo'd E. what would you call that? half an octave? (this is where you rip me apart for not understanding music) I know the 12fret onwards is a full octave. edit: Bad spelling
  3. More then happy with it all. Except im gasing for a Jazz from Shuker, but apart from that im pretty much complete. That light thing really suprised me actually, getting it with the head I didnt know much about it, didnt realise you can plug "kettle" leads into the back of it to power other things. Pic with it on..
  4.
at the time I thought that medallion gold 5 you had was amzing and you were nuts for selling it get yourself an H!....but where to find one?
Good Memory! Was a lovely bass, even my parents were guttered I got rid of it. Just cant get on with 5ers. Had 2 now. got rid of them both. never really used the B so.. Id love a 4H though. or even a HH altho with the Bongo they put the neck pickup really close to the neck so it makes it harder to slap (for me at least) Wouldnt have a clue where to find one, I wouldnt buy one new so maybe months and months of ebay watching? then months longer to find a colour id like. That gold didnt really suit me. Maybe a stelth or blue/red? Wish they made Bongos with Maple necks though how do you get on with the painted neck? do you use anything on it? I found it quite sticky sometimes. Id be stoked to have your Bongo. ...And your SR5 (even tho the B would be a thumb rest)
  5. Thought id update my porn thread, took delivery of Eudes Shuker this morning, Been pratting around with it for the last 10 hours solid. Im so happy with it so I thought id share some pics and my other basses n stuff too. Actually, im so happy with the Shuker, I parted ways with my Modulus. (description stolen from Eude page) 33" Scale, which to my suprise is very easy to play Downsized J Bass shape, Slab Finished Black Walnut body with Black Wet Look Gloss finish and matching headstock (a bugger to keep clean and shiny wink.gif ) 5 piece Mahogany/Wenge neck with graphite rods, 22 frets and Rosewood Fingerboard EMG JV pickups and ACG Preamp, Eude was also kind enough to throw in the original EMG electronics too. Hope you dont mind Eude, I stole one of your pics as my cam is sh*te. This is my P bass I put together, (see link in my signiture for the full build) Finally got it 100% working and finnished, more then happy with it. Altho, since these pics were taken ive set the pickup heights. these pics just show the pups in. Crappy P body - Resprayed mighty mite neck from USA Semore Dunc 1/4 pounders Fender knobs/pots Pre-Groved Badass (came from a Highway 1 Fender before you ask where I got it) (cheers Burpster) Roto Jazz flats (altho my change them to something else once they start going. This is my new Beast, Been trying to get a 410HLF 2nd hand for a month 2, ended up going to Electro music to buy a new one, Turns out they had a 3 month old 2nd hand 610HLF that someone bought and didnt get on with so brought back in part ex for a dif one. Aint a mark on it and got it for cheeper then a new 410, Winner! Bought the Ampeg SVT3-pro from Jayc from BC, with the case and Behringer Power/light thingy. superb, much lighter then the Marshall VBA400 I had plus it suits me sound wise. Very indyesk. Love it! All together now (Rowbee now has the Flea Bass, sound bloke)
  6. That bongo is lovely, wish id have swapped my 5HS one for a 4H instead of just selling it. Bongos are lovely. Quite supprised your didnt go for a 5HH Bongo and a 4H 'ray though, if the Ernie ball forum is anything to go by. BTW, that 'Ray.. Im right in saying that colour is as rair as rocking horse sh*t right? ive only ever seen 1 other and that was a 4string. Edit: just re-reading this thread 20 secs later, ive got massive gas for a 4H Bongo now. THANKS!
  7.
Dust off your Bass when wearing white jeans, before a gig. Don't want to look a tw@t in front of the girlies with mucky jeans. or...
lol, im currently sat in the dirtest white jeans in existance. What I suggest is go to Corporation night club in Sheffield.. go in the mosh pit with them and ruin your new jeans instantly... then not care how dirty they get, stage or otherwise, no amount of bleach gets corp off your clothes. +1 for the grolsh tops, I have them on all my basses/guitar As for my top tip, dont leave basses in direct sunlight. discolours them SO MUCH.
  8. Nice work with the OLP. Whats the B like on it now? I had a 5HH olp and the B was realllly weak. I pimped my first ever bass, altho thinking about it, the only original things on it are the body/scratchplate/tuners. Mightymite fretless neck Fender knobs fender pots Semour Duncan 1/4 pounder pickups Badass Bridge Toped off with a crazy paintjob in a marble purple colour. Im quite happy with it, sounds really nice and plays really well, there is a link to it in my signiture.
  9. I think by now we have established I adore Badass Bridges. 4/7 basses ive owned have had Badass Bridges. 2 of the ones without were musicman's which dont require mass bridges. Muff said
  10. Oh my Lord! thats 20th is AWESOME! Id change the scratchplate but thats LUSH x 100000000000000000.1
  11. Not sure on the Bridge but EVERYTHING else looks amazing! That neck looks fantastic!!!!!!! Love the colour too. Id be well stoked with it!
  12.
You may be lucky and get a decent bridge for under £10.. personally I think the bridge has such a big effect on the bass that a little more investment is worth it, especially if it's not adding holes to your bass and tus can be removed later. On this one those forward screwholes will add two holes to your bass .. If you don't mind that then a Gotoh 203 may be a better choice as it's a really good simple bridge that looks like a Fender one but a bit thicker and more solid. [s] If you don't want any extra holes I'd suggest a Gotoh 201 at under £30 on eBay instead. [/s] I've done this a few times with "bent tin" bridges and it will make a big diffference to your bass.
+1 Id personally go for the Badass (little expensive tho), Had one fitted to my Jazz and it made a real dif. then put one on my P (see profile pic), and my Modulus Flea has it as standard. Oh and the only Fender id ever own would be the Geddy Lee which has them as standard (wouldnt buy it just for the bridge, they are lovely basses) Heard good things about Gotoh but never used a bass with one on for more then 20 mins. Edit: The bent bit of tin Fender call bridges dont really do it for me, saddle movement is a bit annoying when trying to tune perfectly, plus dont give as much sustain apparently. the one you are on about in the pic above looks like they have tryed to combat that with having litle groves in the plate under the saddles, but as ive never tried one I couldnt comment.

    Hi

Hello fellow Doncastairianite. Welcome to the forum!
  14.
Phew. They were found rolling round the boot of our guitarist's car. I'm relieved.
Was gonna say know a girl who works in Corp n I could ask her for you matey. Glad you found em tho, sorry couldnt make the gig but... Germany init. 15.
Duff Mckagan
Plus the 1!
  16.
i thought that too. but its very similar to pretty little ditty. you just need to practice the plucking rhythm and ur sorted - the chord patterns are easy to learn and sound lovely! i started by playing very slow and speeding up once i got the jist of it.
Im doing that with pretty little ditty, but im useless at chords, my fretting hand doesnt like it, plucking hand is orate tho, tried it 2 fingers, 3 and 1, finda use a mix between them all now depending on which bit.
  17.
i love playing 'If' http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sGETQgHBxD8
Thats well sick!! id be pushed to learn that though I think.
  18. Spent the last 5 hours trying to learn "Pretty little Ditty" Turns out im not good at playing guitar chord type things down the dusty end. Quite enjoying learning it though altho my fingers are pretty ruined now.
  19.
Mellowship Slinky in Bmaj is my favourite bass line of his.
Tis a nice line, never tried it either. on my todo list, thanks!
  20.
Pea - a brilliant one for showing off solo at parties and shocking the sensitive!
tis a good song, I sing it worse then flea does though!
  21.
Black eyed Blonde!!!!!! Venice Queen and Don't Forget Me are lovely songs
good enough reason to learn Black Eyed Blonde right there
  22.
Around the World is a great song and the bassline is fairly easy but damn good all the same. I sometimes muck up with the timing of the hammerons at the start, but apart from that it's fine.
That was my problem with the song so i gave up on it, very similer hammer ons in the solo of Naked in the rain too.
  23.
Aeroplane is a kool line too....
I should have mentioned I can play that. Is a great song.
  24. Afternoon, Probably needless to say im a RHCP Fan, Im terrible at slap but trying to find some songs I know which would be easyish to learn by RHCP + good songs without slap. I can Play, califonication, Dani California, Soul to Squeeze (my fav song to play) Naked in the rain (slap, but cant do the bass solo) Coffee shop (slapped really badly) RHCP version of Higher Ground (badly) Edit: Aeroplane, (not too bad) probably 5-10 bits of other songs too, plus odd few other songs which I either gave up on or were pretty plain like "snow". Once tried learning hump de bump when it just came out, which I may have to have another look at as I liked the bass part. Anyone got any recomendations?? Thanks Jobie
  25. Just bought his ampeg svt-3 pro. was a little cock up with the delivery but kept in touch with me, chased the delivery up etc. Top bloke. Cheers mate!
