2.
i A/B'd the BadAss bridge on a few jazz basses a while back and i found it to be a pretty pointless piece of kit (in my opinion) (here come the BadAss gang to kick my head in)
Depends on the Bass, replaced my bit of tin for a BA on my old passive MIM Jazz and it sounded tons better. heard its not much diff on a Active bass tho, but it is standard on my Modulus.
 3.
I hope your joking!
Me too! Helps sustain but ive never noticed a sizeable dif with the tone, if any at all.
As a matter of interest why would you get rid of a valve amp for a tranny??????
I wasnt feeling the full valve, dumbed it down to the SVT-3 cause it has the Valve pre-amp so hoping to get some of the valve sound but with the ease of solidstate. Plus I feel the Marshall was a pretty Rock oriantated amp, which I dont really play anymore, gone for more of a classic indyesk tone.
 4. Hey guys and gals, Sold my Marshall VBA today to Lloyd (top bloke) and as my Ampeg SVT-3 pro should be turning up tomorrow (cheers Jayc) I popped down Electro music to try out a SVT 410hlf. Luckyly they had a 2nd hand SVT 610hlf so ended up buying that instead. Tryed it out with a Stingray cause I guess thats the closest they had to a Modulus Flea in the shop. Sounds amazing. love the tone of the amp/cab. Picked up a USA Fender P bass with a £1195 price tag, played it thru this rig, sounded TERRIBLE. Sounded very week, very middy and even with loads of tweeks on the eq on the amp, it just sounded imho Pants. Couldnt get a nice tone out of it to save my life. Tried a Jazz bass (someones signiture one with ashtrays and its all maple) and it didnt sound much better. Ive not liked Fenders for a long time, but I was always under the impression they are nice basses and played well. But after today id go as far as say... I cant stand Fender! Maybe its the cab/head that doesnt like Fenders, but tone wise I thought it the Fenders realllllly lacked something. Does anyone else feel this way or am I going mental?
 5. Thanks Marcus, still loving your Flea bass (altho now has a JD sticker over the tort scratchplate)
 6. Feedback for one of our newer members Lloyd. Just bought my Marshall VBA400 + VBC412 today. Really nice bloke, very friendly, kept in touch all way through the transaction. Pleasure to deal with. Well trusted. Cheers Lloyd. Chris
 7.

tried this before skateboarding, used to cut my finger tips doing grabs so i gaffer taped my fingers up, but you swet and they come right off, guessing would be the same on stage? Why not use a pick? gotta admit I cant use them for sh*t but if it was me, if it wasnt an important gig and I didnt mind fluffing a few notes. id let my finger heal and use a pick.
 8. Whats everyones opinions on getting a fret put in as the last fret so I can still slap it???
 9.
haha thanks for clearing that up. when you say transparent, do you mean you can see the wood grain? im not a big fan of painted wood grain
Yeah, you can see the grain thru the paint, im guessing its a red stain then clear lackered. Yeah a fair few have played it lol. I buy/sell lots of basses so people have played it when they have been here etc, plus I took it to the bass bash last year.
 10.
Just to put my oar in - I've played this bass too and I promise it's all it's claimed to be. A Ray of extreme sunshine.
Thanks for the Dave!
 11.
Bongo 5 HH is where it's at for that money IMO
+1 I had a HS and the tones you could get was UNTRUE! if your recording with it, it sounds like a good option to me, can dial anything from a Jazz sound to a 'ray sound. Id go for the HH though for more tone options. Unless you play slap.. then id stay away. thats the only reason I got rid of my HS, neck pickup was far too close to the neck, bad technique? probably, but its much closer then any other HS, or jazz neck pickup ive played. Id prob try and pick one up 2nd hand tho, looking £800-900 if prices havent changed much since I bought and sold mine. Seam to hold their 2nd hand value too.

 14.
Ive told my mate to check this thread. It'd be perfect for him!
Thanks man!
 15. hummmmm, Ive had your cables ages now and I cant see ive ever given you feedback. Amazing cables, very fast delivery, top bloke to deal with. Word of warning, dont let your mates lend these for any reason, I lent 1 of them out for a mates gig, its been good 4 months now and I still havent seen it!
 16. Looksl ike this is on hold for a bit, I just got given 5 days notice. AWESOME
 17.
Did this go on a few weeks ago then disappear?
It did, I pulled it cause I was regretting putting it up for sale, but I just bought an Ampeg head so looks like it back up! lol
 18. Marshall VBA400 (flightcased) with VBC412 cab. as above, its a full valve head which has been flightcased its entire life, even at gigs (has one of those cases you can just take the top off to use it) so its in mint cond practically. Ill throw in a free DI box thing (used so you can crank the amp to get even more Phatness, but not as loud thru the speaker) Even with this half way as I set it, ive only ever had the vol and gain to 12 o'clock before realising my head was going to explode. The cab hasnt been flightcased, has a few little knocks on it where the covering has come away slightly, but nothing magor. could glue it back down but I never bothered. works perfectly. preferably id like to sell these together but if I get a good enough offer on just the head i may split. Around £1600 to buy these new. Open to offers. Bass bash photo (can take more photos if needed, this pic it looks a little gray, its pure black normally) Hears what GAK has to say, The VBA400 has the massive tonal power of eight 6550 power tubes, plus three ECC83 and one ECC82 in the preamp section. The front panel controls are kept simple, but still offers a lot of tonal variation with the three-band passive EQ and 'Contour' control. Tuning your bass during a set is also made easier with the addition of the 'Tuner Mute' switch that cuts all sound to the speaker cabinets and DI output, while still feeding sound to the dedicated tuner output. The matching cabinets for the VBA400 head come in 4x12 and 8x10 configurations, both of which feature one piece construction to give extra strength and minimize unwanted cabinet rattle. They also have sound absorbent wadding to damp internal resonances. Internal partitioning further damps resonance and aids smooth performance. The custom designed loudspeakers have been specially selected to handle the power of the VBA400 amplifier. Features: * Active or passive inputs * Tuner Mute selection switch with status indicator * Gain, Bass, Middle and Treble passive EQ controls. * Three position Contour control to reconfigure the EQ. * Deep and Bright switches. * Master Volume. * Tuner output. * XLR DI output with level selection switch. * 2 or 4 Ohm impedance selection switch. * Low or high speed fan selection switch. Right, now the cab, hears what GAK say The VBC412 is a specially designed, heavy duty 4x12" cabinet for use with the VBA400 head. Built as only Marshall knows how, it features two separate sealed chambers which help to prevent unwanted cabinet resonance while adding to the structural integrity of the unit. It is also lined with sound absorbent wadding to further help dampen internal resonance. It comes loaded with custom designed loudspeakers which have been specially designed to handle the power of the VBA400's output while giving you superb, professional performance. Operating at 4 Ohms impedance it has been designed to perfectly complement the VBA400. As the amplifier will accept a load of 2 Ohms, combinations of two cabinets can be used to create an awesome bass rig. Clad in Marshall's trademark, heavy duty, black vinyl, the 400 Watt VBC412 boasts roadworthy, high grade fittings.
 19.
Sheesh. That's more than some groupies!
FLight case weighs just over a stone tho. .....I wish I had groupies
 20. £600?? you sure? Id love another Modulus. I would have bit your hand off 2 weeks ago when I knew I had job security but now im saving for just incase. Shame, its beautiful!!!!! Good luck with the sale, I dont think you'll need it at that price.
 21. Its been what.... a year since? been buying far too many other basses and messing about to finish it, but I took it to electro music and got them to sort the wiring out. (first day I had it it stopped working, I hit it and now its working perfectly) But now its finally finished (except the knobs, left them at my old hosue in Sheffield, still need to pick those up) the 1/4 pounders are fantastic compaired to the MIM ones I had in it previously. Bit guttered that I drunkly fell into it knocking it off the bed a few months back, as you can see from pic 3, got a nasty dent in the paintwork. AUGHH. Oh yeah and its got some Roto Jazz Flats on it now. Id get a sound clip up but I dont have a webcam thing anymore as my laptop blew up. do have a sh*tty mic but no idea how to record a clip or where to upload it. Pics,
