1. I always tone the mid down treb up 1/4 turn to get that flea sound, so id say id need the 3eq. pretty pissed off my flea bass doesnt have a mid tbh. apart from the knob, I know nothing.
 2. My first bass was a jazz, and I played pretty much over the last frets, then I started learning over the neck pickup then eventually started on the back for speed. but its what you feel comfortable with tbh, each have their own reasons for playing there. id suggest try them all, cause eventually you might need the sound or speed from a certain position, plus it helps if you get new basses to pick them up and start playing well as soon as you do. (except ric's, I still cant play those)
 3.
Okay, a serious response. No, it's not a reliable form of stress relief for me. Sometimes, if it's going well, then it relieves stress. At other times, it makes me angry beyond words. I have been close to throwing £1,000 worth of bass guitar across the room many, many times.
Ive been there. sometimes im so stressed with work I get home and crank the amp up and expect to play everything perfect without warming up. I get stressed further after 5 mins and wanna throw it. I usually just turn the amp up louder for 5 mins in hope the annoying neighbours I have will get pissed off which makes me smile a little so I put it back down carefully. But some times I get home stressed, pick it up and its beautiful, give it half an hour and im de-stressed and smiling.
 4. Thats lovely!! Wish I had the readys.
 5. LMFAO. possibly the best listing on gumtree ive seen.
 6. Ive tried pretty much every roto string there was out there cause I was highly recomended them by a bass playing mate when I first started playing bass. But you (chrisdabass) opened my eyes to elixirs when I bought your lovely 'ray. and I havent looked back, ive fitted elixirs to all my basses now. supurb strings. even sound emense on a 5 string. (cheers for the B string Ped) I wont use rotos again ever. the only ones that were half decent were the Jazz Flats, and even those we rougher then elixir rounds.
 7. Id go for a SUB musicman personaly. they are great instruments and you get roughtly the same tone as the Musicman. AND CHEEP right now. Ive really gone off fenders because of the build quality. I pop down the guitar shop every few weeks to see whats in an I like to play about on as many as I can, but they are so hit and miss its untrue. even started liking Warwicks over fenders which I never thought I would. But Musicman has to have the best build quality over all, its hard to find a bad one.
 8.
Have you tried a bit of compression on the flea bass? Might help to fatten the sound up. You could have a look at a Sonic Maximiser too, they add the fatness of valves but without the compression on the attack. (Years ago everyone had a Sonic Maximiser but they've virtually disappeared...)
ive got a Berhinger comp, and my amp is full valve :S
 9.
from what you have just said it sounds like you should be selling the flea, not this
maybe, I bought a bongo thinking it would be better, that was sold after a few months cause even with more tone options available, still didnt outshine the 'ray. But I do love the Flea neck and how low the action is. maybe I have to sacrafice the tone a little for playability? I dunno, the jury is still out on that one.
 10.
If im honest with you mate i think u must be bloody crackers selling this!! you dont know what you've got till its gone n all that!! its something that'll be hard to find again! im sorry that i let it go in the first place as its spoiled every other ray for me! what do you need the cash for anyway? is it really that important? lol
Its just not getting used. I have the Flea now and its just sitting there lookign pretty, I think if I just sorted the action out on it as its a little high at present, id not use the flea again cause the 'ray sounds better for what I need then the flea. But I prefer the flea neck and it plays fantastic. BUT the ray neck is SWEEEEEEET. aughh. its so hard. I cant quite get the tone out of the flea that id like though, but thats probably cause im terrible with EQ/effects and I never run it straight to the amp. so the 'ray wins hands down on that. i just dont like having a few grands worth of basses in my house and not getting any use. just got rid of my 5HH OLP for the same reason. was pretty rair as it was imported from USA, but still, needed to go. TBH, I dont want rid, but if I got a good enough offer it'd go.
 11.
V. interested. What are you realistically looking for?
Im open to offers, but im not letting it go dirt cheep. thanks Chris and Mark for the kind words.
 12.
How much for the Wheel barrow and the dog? ^_^
well im dog sitting this weekend for it, so if you wanna look after it for the weekend while I get trashed with my mates ill throw the wheelbarrow in for free. (you do have to give the dog back tho.) Its just a feeler at the mo, I just found a status neck for it, so if I end up getting that, looks like im keeping it for a while longer. I would really regret selling it, just for the fact of ill never find a better 'ray in my lifetime. But needs must.
 13.
So! What's peoples fav colour! Gota say I love a purple bass.. I think I made this poll right...if not feel free to delete and I'll cry over my incompetence..
what do ya think? The purple bass I made.
 14.
I saw, I bought.. Thanks mate!
No problem at all. I hope you enjoy it.
 15. Shows the headstock on this one, but not close, sorry.
 16. Not at the moment no, they are all on my phone and I cant figure out why it wont link to my PC. this is the only one I found online I have.
 17. I LOVE THIS BASS. TBH, I dont really want rid of it. I havent played a 'Ray like it before or since. Its STUPIDLY light. I sware its made of feathers. the tone on it is fantastic, ive played a fair few 'rays in my time and I cant find another thats been anywhere neer as good. A fair few of you have played it and said if I ever want rid of it give you a shout. well, here we are. If I get a good enough offer on it, it'll go. Its got a musicman hardcase, strung with Elixirs. 2007 model, originally bought from ChrisDaBass (who can vouch for how nice this really is) Had a pro set up 18th April by ElectroMusic. Reciept in hand. Action is amazingly low. plays fantastic! I can take more pics if you want/need them. If your local you can pop over and have a play. Pick up prefered, but has a hardcase so can sort postage if need be. £725 ono. Looks like its massivly scratched on the far right, I asure you its not.
 18. 1: Michael Balzary 2: John Entwistle 3: Jaco
 19.
OLP MM32 - Is it still for sale? Mick
It is mate, just dropped you a text. Cheers
 20. Nice one. thanks for that. Really need to get rid of it now, I need to buy lots and lots more shares. Thinking about getting rid of my Flea bass for the same reason. will trade my bass for 250ish RBS shares, maybe LTSB and possibly Halifax if anyones got any laid around? (subject to current market conditions)
 21.
but I refuse to blame that on the economic trouble, as most of the actual economic trouble is being cause by peoples reaction to hearing there is such trouble.
+1!!! I seldomly listen to the news cause I hate all these reporters making things out to be worse then they really are. 90% of people have really no clue whats going off and they hear ressession and they panic. I had my mum call me up scared that shes got more then £35k in the bank and worried shes gonna loose it. its stupid!! Wish everyone would carm down. Altho this is a good time to be playing on the stock market, my mate borrowed 5k last night (from a broker) and bought up HBOS shares, been sat at work watching them go up 80points before 12 midday, sold em, boom, cheaky 1.5k for half a days "work" Im pretty pissed off I didnt do the same when they went down to 88p.
 22. YUP, band practice today! knew exactly what I needed to play, soon as we played all together I kept doing stuff in the wrong order. really simple bassline and I got well stressed out. ended up calling it a day cause my head was fried.
 23.
thanks ppl, take it the stuff that OBBM makes works well then?
YES!!! unfortunatly my mate had all his gear nicked and he was supporting Duff Mckegans new band last week, so he stole my OBBM cables, bastard! They are fantastic. Best quality conectors and cables you can get. You can pay £100 for leads which at the end of the day, you wont tell the diffrence between them or these.
