3.
I will say that playing it bass finger style gives you a serious speed advantage over people who twang the thing with their thumb. I had a go at New Year - my mate got me to do all the difficult ones
Plus the one. My mates girlfriend (who id love to punch in the face) thinks that because she can play "In Bloom" on easy and get 90% then she said "Id be REALLY good on a real guitar, Daniel, buy me a guitar, a fender one" (actual words she uttered) god I hate that money grabbing W***E. anyways I digress, er... whats my point again?
 4.
I remember having a similar issue with my bongo, Allbeit i stuck at it a bit longer (and THATS saying something!) Its such a rewarding bass when you get it right. But i have to agree the SC neck pickup isnt worth doodly squat.
Im really stoked with bongos, I definatly want another one. the tone you can get out of them is unreal, the slightest little turn of one of the 4eq, and you get a totaly new sound, cut mids slightly and add a tiny bit of trebble you sound like flea, or treb down a little, little high mid and you get a lovely jazz sound. and this is all within a 1/4 of a turn. Fantastic bass. But for practicality I need rid of that pickup, I dont go for warm sounds anyways so its pretty pointless for me.
 5. bahh, missed the arrow pointing to Finbar's old amp/cab
 6.
What about a Zoom b9.1ut? I don't know if they're out yet though.
+1 If its anything like the B2.1u with more stomp pedals, then im sure it'll be worth the £250 asking price.
 7.
I've borrowed guitar hero 3 from a friend, and while it's a laugh, i'm ultimately going to get bored of it in a few days and never touch it again. It's not really THAT good. I've never gotten bored of my bass in 3 years, and i hope i won't either! If people want to play their games like that then let them, it just annoys me when people get really good at guitar hero and demand the sort of attention an amazing guitarist would get, posting videos on youtube and the like. I mean for christ's sake, there's 5 buttons! on a real guitar there can be up to 144 on a 24 fret 6 string plus chords etc, there's one word for people like that, SAD! Sorry in advance if that applies to you or anybody you hold dear
Plus the one But............... how many people post vids of themself playing other peoples basslines on youtube. Yes im guilty of that too, although the only vid on youtube I have is utter sh*te
 8.
Blimey - you've been going a bit GAS crazy since we traded, eh? Your Jazz hasn't seen much use since I got it (in the middle of building works so only have space for one bass out at a time just now) but I have been quite pleasantly surprised how little the neck pickup bothers me on my OLP 4HH now... I started off hating it for slap stuff, and lowered the neck pickup right down until it was pretty much flush with the pickguard. After a month or so I put it back to normal height and... somewhat oddly - it doesn't get in the way anymore. I can't really work out exactly what I'm doing different - although I guess I must be playing a bit further up the fretboard when slapping... but I reckon it could be well worth sticking with it for a bit to see if you can get on with it.. it'd be a shame to lose that extra bit of versatility for the sake of a bit of effort working on technique. (And it must be piss easy if I can do it. )
Your right, I could lower the neck pup right down, but then it'd make no sence in having it there in the first place cause you wouldnt get a nice tone out of it or hear it. Since I got your OLP 5HH, I havent played that much either, few hours here and there but I cant get on with the neck pup on that either so thats going to Machines, for some reason I thought the bongo would be diffrent as its HS not HH, but the spacing is the same pretty much. Think its gonna take me a while to find a Bongo 5H, but im happy noodling around with it untill one pops up. Might go for a trade with something else, like something with a status/modulus type of neck. Has to be P bass size though. if not graphite, then it has to be maple. not a massive fan of rosewood at all.
 9. sorry for highjacking the thread, but anyone had any experiance with the Boss BCB-60 pedal case (with power thing inc in it)
 10. t'was a good day had by all. ahhhh, john smiths
 11. I know what you mean, Hystaria by muse however its spelt, I played it on rock band and thought, wow thats hard, ill try it on my bass, learnt the intro then thought mehh,, and learnt it on expert on rock band instead, the time I spent on rockband learning it, I could have learnt most of the song on my actual bass.
 12.
Anyone got any pics?? Really annoyed i couldn't make it Gotta get another one done thats not on a sunday and goes on a little later! -Jake
Keith took some pics, yeah it would be nice to go on for a little later, apart from turning up half hour late cause my tire blew up on the motorway, it did go too quick, could have done with going on for a few more hours, im sure if more people turned up for the next one, it'd be worth renting the room for a while longer. Still a good turn out though
 13.
Edit, the guy with the 9 string, HILARIOUS. (meaning your funny, not mocking your ability/aircraft carrier) Cheers fella. I loved your Balsawood Stinger that weighed as much as a soggy Wafer.
I love your quote "is this a fake?" lol, Its a LUSH bass, I wouldnt change it for the world. Its so light for a 'ray its untrue. aughhh, yeah, AUGHHHHHH, I Remember your name now, That 72 string was amazing! shame I couldnt play the most simple songs on it.
 14. Im really really really sorry to both of you. That 'ray will stay with me for a long long time to come, I picked up some Wal's today, and even though they were fantastic, they didnt give me that same tingly feeling every time I pick up that 'ray, I very much doubt ill ever find something else that will replace it as my #1 bass. I see you still have my ray on your profile pic Chris Ill give you dibs if im on life support, or I have a hand chopped off, or I need to sell it for my new herion/crack addiction (hey I live in Doncaster, its only time before im shooting up and calling everyone Boyo's)
 15. Doesnt really do much for me, Listened to half of it, Let me know if it got any better.
 16. I have mine so finger style is a good level, then I can build up louder untill the frets start buzzing to get a growl, then it stops there, and I got it so the slap noise level matches the level of the growl. Nice when you throw a random pop or slap into a normal finger style bass line. Couldnt comment on the pick
 17. Afternoon, Ive only just got this bad boy, a HS bongo in gold from this forum, I never played a bongo before and I got some real Gas, Its a lovely bass but I cant get on with the Neck Pickup, Gets in the way for slap (I dont have a good technique) Id really like another 5 string in its place, preferably a Bongo, but any musicman really, Has to be single hum though. Preferably maple necked. If its not Musicman then it 100% has to have a maple fretboard. Might sell if the price is right but the money will only go to another bass anyways. 18. Never played a Sado' but I wasnt impressed with Lakeland, played a 4 and 5 string, and thought the neck was wierd.
 19. I had a good laugh, met some nice people and heard some great bass, shame im not too hot myself lol. Yeah im with NoiseDude with the names thing, Dr Dave and NoiseDude were the only names what stuck. Thanks for york5stringer for putting it all on, really enjoyed myself, Im thinking It could have been a little longer though, I didnt really get chance to play everything lol, didnt help I had a blow out on the motorway doing 80mph on the way there, did slow me down a little. oooo, I won some drum sticks too, They'll get used....................... on Rock Band for the xbox whos were those Wal's anyways? and I never got chance to play thats fretless/fretted double neck thing which I was a little guttered about. Edit, the guy with the 9 string, HILARIOUS. (meaning your funny, not mocking your ability/aircraft carrier) Talking about ability, It makes me realise I suck at bass 2nd edit, NoiseDude, your Ibanez is LOVELY to slap, real crisp sound, LUSH
 20. Not my cup-o-tea, but I do like the fret dots/swirl things. Could never quite get on with that shape of bass, But I guess it'd be easyer then sitting with a Flying V with no strap. (ended up hooking the v bit onto a leg to stop it moving, very uncomfortable)
 21.
plus the one, awesome stuff just learnt soul to squeeze by rhcp, lovely riff
I adore that rif, infact for the last year, its the first thing I play when I pick up my bass.
 22.
Hysteria - Muse Paranoid - Black Sabbath
someones been playing Rock Band recently Hysteria was really hard on that game so I gave it a go on my bass, I learnt the intro then got bored and went back to the xbox Learnt recently... hummm.. Actually, I wrote a list of loads of songs id like to learn at work the other day cause I was bored to tears, London Calling - Clash Roundabout - Yes Coffee Shop - RHCP Jerry was a race car driver - Forgot who, but I got the guitar pro tab for it and then decided against learning it Dock of a bay - Ottis Reading Play that funky Music white boy Tom Sawyer - Rush I am the resurrection - Stone Roses Cant stop - RHCP Around the world - RHCP Anesthesia - Metalica the only one I got around to learning was the Ottis Reading one
