1.
If you could post the 2x10 I would be interested, depending on price.
Im guessing it would cost a fortune to post. I am going to the West Yorkshire bass bash on the 29th. if your there for that I can bring it with me.
2. Well Its my last day at work friday so ill defo be able to make it. Ill bring my Stingray and my fretless P. And as an added bonus, if all goes well I should have a new rig to bring too. Marshall VBA400 + VBC412. Could bring it along if anyones interested in it. If anyone wants to buy/look at my Ashdown stuff and is going to the bash let me know by PM and ill bring it along, although not sure I can fit 2 basses, marshall head, 4x12 cab, 2x10 cab and a 15" combo in a clio.
3. Afternoon, Ready for the noob question of the century? I have a zoom b2.1u and had it for a while, I dont wanna get rid of it but I feel I need something more. I think. With the zoom I just use 2 presets, c2 for destortion and c4 for everything else. forgot what c4 was, something like a stringray effect, although I have a stringray. I really have no clue where to start with pedals, I want to be able to flick from 1 to the other effortlessly, so it looks like I need more. This is where the noob question comes in. Is there a guide to effects anywhere? explaining what each effect does to the sound. Wah, destortion and a few others are self explained but the magority arnt as easy unless explained. I have an octive thing on my amp, which im still confused about as I dont hear much diffrence. an EQ pedal.. to me EQ is the Bass Mid Trebble. but I have that on my amp and bass so id guess that its just for mid song changes to eq? Looking to get some pedals and just use the zoom as a volume and or expression pedal for the distortion, and also for tuning. Hard to explain what I want because I dont know what I want, so feel free to mock and poke fun at the effect noob while saying lots of jargon I wont understand. Regards Confuzzed Noobz aka Chris
4. I just learn the shape, find it easyer then saying Pentatonic blah blah, to me its just the minor scale with some missing, just the root, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 7th, 8th. or how I like to see it is how my fingers would be using one finger per fret. E: 1,4 A: 1,3 D: 1,3 Blues is just an added flat 5th so Root, 3rd, 4th, flat 5th, 5th, 7th, 8th or E: 1,4 A: 1,2,3 D: 1,3 then once you know the shape you can play it anywhere practically, untill you wanna play open E scales or F magor on the E string etc. Thats how im learning anyways, only just starting to learn the therory behind it but I have a great teacher and learning a lot. Really puts things into context why ive been playing in a certain way. Suppose it helps that I can already play pretty competently.
5. i was pretty sure I asked this question but cant find it anywhere in this thread. I play Floating thumb, works great for me, helps me mute strings, keep the same speed and helps with volume too. Started taking lessons after nearly 3 years and my teacher says I need to keep it anchored on the E string or Pup if im playing the E string, this is unless its a fast song then floating thumb is perfect. Doing that it has thrown me off everything, so much unwanted string noice. I cant keep rythem, some strings are louder then the others now too. Do I keep up with Floating thumb or do I learn his way and get better at it? doing it his way feels like the day I stoped using a pick and started with my fingers, I feel so uncomfortable and frustrating when I cant play easy songs well.
6.
There are probably dots up the side of the neck but, either way, it doesn't take you long to find you way around a neck. Its about practice and familiarity. Most violins, cellos, double basses, violas and classical guitars don't have markers of any kind. 1,000,000 string players can't all be wrong!!
Plus the one I went from a lined to a lineless (that even a word?) they normally put the dots ON the line of the 1-3-5-7-9-12 etc. if you have played lined ones it shouldnt take too long to figure this out unless you dont play 1 finger per fret and/or clasical grip.
7. +1 to whatever anyone else said. So so much better then Tabs, plus you can write your own stuff too. I use Ultimate Guitar for the GP files, although ive used 991 and other similer sites when I cant find the song I want. I may have to pay for it, not got round to it cause I havent used it in a while as I havent wanted to learn anything new, just been working on technique/timing etc. Its a very good program and well worth paying for. Yes you can download it for free, but I hear that some GP files wont work on it because it says you need to upgrade it. For hastle free... Buy it.
8.
You'll have fun with those. There's about a half second delay through Bluetooth. Makes things very interesting.
£37 [s]well[/s] spent, they are [s]the[/s] Sh*t! They [s]dont[/s] have a 1 sec delay They [s]dont [/s]loose signal all the time when its in your pocket walking. they said 12 hours life on the website, turns out in the manual its only 6! False advertising or what.
9. Looks like this is definatly gonna have to go, Seperate or together. Any offers?
10.
It would be a bit difficult to aim. Bass frequencies are notoriously non-directional, so protecting the "good guys" would be a serious challenge.
Could easyly fit in an american army joke in here but they die for their country too and everone makes mistakes
11. doubt you'll still have this by the bass bash, but if you do ill bring some cash with me. never played the tribute version so ill have to see.

13.
cheers, will changing the strings to a higher gauge then make things difficult when it comes to standard tuning?? i was thinking of gettin sum elixirs which i think are 45,65,85,105 cos atm im jusing lights oh course there is the other approach which is to get a 5 string too
I know nothing about tuning but Elixirs are fooking awesome!
14. I sware im useless. Put the new pickups on today, and rewired it, got some propper wire and new soldering iron. But ive done something wrong cause normally you get a little buzz when you dont touch the strings and it goes when you touch the strings, but I get the opersite. lol. looksl like im redoing it tomorow.
15.
is this still about? im erally after a fretless
Sorry no. I swapped it for STOO's OLP MM32.
16. Was it a bit of a sausage fest???? congrats!!! So let me get this right, your doing a gig with them then straight after you doing a gig with your other band on the same stage on the same night? awesome!
17. You sound like me, I spent a fair amount pimping my bass, spent more on it then it was worth new. Also built my own PC too, same deal as you! was 7 year old and still beat most things on the market before it blew up last year. I dont think there is a limit on what you should spend as long as you have fun doing it, enjoy the end result and are not doing it to make a quick buck. As long as you arnt thinking about selling it, I say pimp away!
18.
A guitarist friend of mine did this on his 80's Squire Strat (and what a guitar that is!) He removed the 'plate, rubbed it down VERY lightly to "key" the surface, wahsed it down in white spirit to get any residues off, and sprayed it using an aerosol can. He changed it from white to black, and it worked very well for a long while. Ultimately, the tip of his plectrum began to wear it away on his longer downstrokes, and he ended up with a white patch showing through again. If you use a plectrum, you may experience this issue. If you play finger style, you're likely to get a dull or shiny patch over time in any area that you frequently touch the scratchplate. Maybe a coat of lacquer might prevent this from happening?
+1 I used 1500 wet and dry, could use a bit harsher though I suppose. Aerosol works fine, but if you have access to decent lacker I highly suggest using it. If its aerosol your using, I suggest once its dried giving it a VERY light rub down with 1500, then lacker, then LIGHT 1500, then buff/pollish.
19. Electro? as in Electro Music in doncaster??? If thats the case, yeah I buy a lot from there. Really sound guys and always help you out!!! But, sadly Id say your best bet is online retailers for price, they dont have many overheads compaired to actual shops like electro.
20. Welcome to the world of BassChat. Dont worry about your fingers, eventually they will blister then grow callus's and THEN you can play all the time without it hurting lol. (try not make it blister though, I used to put my fingers on ice or under a cold tap if they were feeling like they would blister. much easyer to get callus's if they dont blister.
21. My Guitard has a massive Orange combo thing, its pretty fecking huge actually, but it sounds terrible. we'll the tone isnt that bad but its the loudest amp ive ever heard when nothings being played. sounds like you have a tv on full blast and pull the arial out. Dunno if thats a fault with the amp, but I dont like it. Edit: Just realised its not a combo, did a search on it and realised its just the cab, must be the head making the noise.. so yeah, forget everything ive said.
22.
lookin good, nice work mate
Thanks, aswell, didnt do a great job of it last time although im not having any problems with it, id prefer to feel like ive done the best job I could have. Sorted out the action too. Been looking about for some black knobs and screws but ive been to 2 bass shops and they havent stocked them.
