1. gotta say, it feels like a comunity and not one big slagging match like most other forums I visit, some other large US bass forum which will remain nameless *coughs*TB*coughs. is just a load of people one upping each other "which basses do you keep even though you never use........ Oh my limited edition ray, 4001 Rick, 62 P bass." like you wouldnt use those basses!!!! gurrr.. A skateboard forum I use is the same "oh yeah I can do double 360flip, your such a noob for not being able to do them" AUGHHHH anyways im going off the point. BassChat is a really friendly place, everyone ive spoken to, dealt with, bought stuff from, Met, had advice from. have all been great people. The reason I come back to this site day in day out, apart from there isnt anything to do at work, is because its so friendly. *GROUP HUGGGGG* hahah.
 2.
Quite honestly, i get bored learning bass on it's own. What i'd recommend is that you get guitar pro (pay for it or otherwise) and let her play along to that, then once she's competent at playing to a song on guitar pro, let her play along to the actual track without the guitar pro tabs in front of her. That's how i do it, i much prefer playing to music than not and if she's someone that gets bored easily that's probably the way to do it.
+1 Guitar Pro 5 is excelent, if its wasnt for that I dont think I would have kept playing, I hit a brick wall reading tabs after a while and Guitar Pro 5 really helped me progress into more complex songs, I still use it now. As you state shes a bit of an emo, she'll pick up all her garbage (in my opinion) songs quite quickly I would have thought, for example, she could pick up and Blink 182 song and be able to play it all the way through after 10 mins of looking at it. Not sure id recomend getting a tutour right off the bat, can be quite frustrating when they can play so good and you cant even keep a steady beat. That might just be me, but ive only stated taking lessons 3 years after picking my first bass up, but I should have had them a LOT sooner.
 3. i use little mid on my Ashdown combo then Bass up, treb down on the 'ray, But I guess its all preference.
 4. Well if all goes well, I should be getting a pretty gothic P bass from Burpster so I have that covered
 5. arnt those ashtrays for a Jazz?? And since when did MIM or MIA P bass's have Strat type volume/tone knobs? Serial number? lol, made me laugh and I dont know fenders well at all.
 6. My first propper bass was a £199 Ferdinand P bass and they threw in a pretty decent gig bag, leads, stand, picks for £210. Electro-music in Doncaster is pretty decent with stuff like that. ...Probably why I get a lot of stuff from there.
 7.
Anyways good job mate! I know its been said but lovely paint job. I love that colour! I would agree with the black scratchplate and the black hardware, but then Im a lover of all things black. Anyways overall good job!! Now give me your address and let me know when your next out
I think its gonna have to stay white for now, black hardware will be on its way though, shame cause I only just bought those knobs lol. Could have a go at making a black plate but im pretty damn sure ill make a complete and utter mess of it.
 8. the swamp ash with maple board. is lush. and the P is actually the nicest P ive ever layed my eyes on. If your ever getting rid of it, I have dibs!
 9. Shame cause im after a cheepo acoustic, and even the ebay specials are a little too expensive as im only using it when bordom strikes at a few festivals this year. probably get broken or stolen anyways. If anyone is practically giving one away or very cheep...
 10.
LOL, my mother in law won a set of my old astra alloy wheels that way, years ago...
I bought my mates car on there that way too lol. got GREAT feedback though

 12.
I know both Andertons in Guildford and Electromusic in Doncaster have had Daidy Rock basses in the past, may be worth a punt?
Didnt see any on the wall this weekend, but its worth giving them a call cause I have seen a few in there. their website is electro-music.co.uk nunbers on there. Just throwing this out there, but im guessing the neck is a little big on your bf's bass so your looking for something smaller? Try a Jazz bass, tiny necks and it'll be much easyer to play sat down too then a wierd shape like the butterfly or heart or whatever. how about Pink Acoustic or Pink P bass (neck slightly bigger then a J-bass) But ultimatly you have to like your bass so go with what you feel comfortable with and feel you will enjoy playing.

 14. Nahh didnt get it, I dont know fenders very well and I didnt know if it was worth it or not so I left it. Shame really because its a pretty thing. Really gone off Fenders recently but im not one to miss up on a bargin.

 17.
How did i miss this thread?! Well done matey, thats a mighty fine job you have done there! I think it looks fantastic as it is man, although personally i would have gone with a black scratchplate and then all black hardware. Then it would look like the darkest, funky bass in the known universe! Either way its superb, and your first project!
still thinking about the black scratchplate, depends if it sprays well or not, but the off white is growing on me slightly.
 18. just started to watch that video... how hot is his solder?? you had to have the solder ON the iron for 60secs just to get it to start melting... ...I think I need a new iron.
 19. I took 9 hours to wire up my P bass on the weekend and thats passive. Ok, I stared off with the wrong diagram which didnt help things... from trial and error I found out that.... to get the earth to stick to the back of the pot, cratch the pot with a screwdriver to nail to give it something to stick to and hold onto. I put the tip of the iron on the wire and heated the wire up while pushing the solder half way between the wire and the iron to get heat off both. to clean the end of the wires, carbon and other things that get on there (I really have no clue) you can use some stuff called FLUX, dip the wire in, no need to clean off, then just solder as normal. there is a strong possibility what ive told you is wrong. This is just what I did and it seamed to work out fine for me. all though it did take me a long time and it did look a mess cause I used far too much solder and I had to re-do it cause I wired it up originally from the wrong diagram. The fender website's wiring diagrams are SHOCKINGLY harder then they should be. colour coding would have been nice like ive seen on other sites.
 20.
You must remember though what your wearing becomes the colour of your bass on stage..... so a bright yellow raincoat and wellies might not cut it!
neither would this.
 21. I dont think there is much tonal diffrence but I know very little about anything. I still prefer Maple boards though, just something about rosewood I really dont get on with.
 22.
Because it's an ampeg dan armstrong one, not a sh*tty wesley whatever
hahahaha. those wesleys are a pile of sh*te. noone answered me, these worth 1250 then??? im guessing so?
