2. Beautiful bass man, im supprised noones bought this yet, its a well reasonable price.
3. why wouldnt someone want one??? Please tell me you want 1,000,000 for it cause my creditcard is nearly maxed out as it is cause of GAS
4. I bought CHRISDABASS's 'ray a month or so ago and I havent really put it down, ive got another fretless on the way so my jazz aint really going to be getting used. its a black MIM fretless Jazz with Roto Jazz flat strings, although I just changed them back to Roto Roundwound's today to make it brighter, you can have both sets. scratch plate is metalic silver/gray which is currently waiting to be lackered, although I may do it the black and marble purple as I'll have loads of that paint left . scratch plate currently off. few buckle scratches on the back in a little patch, no big dings. generally very clean, low action and nice sounding bass. I can take better pics if anyones interested. Id like to trade it preferably, Maybe a MIM Jazz fretted, but open to any offers of any fretted bass's. Even 5 a string
5. they look pretty tidy for the price, BEWARE though! its importing from germany so you'll have to pay import tax and VAT on it. I nearly bought a few things off that ebay seller but it always put me off with importing it. they have a nice see thru 5 string for about £100, looks really quirky (but prob sounds like ****) still might get one though to add to the collection.
6. is it your geddy your changing the neck of with your new jazz??? or did you get more GAS and get another jazz?
7.
Shameless plug for my BA II, in the Other Musical Equipment section of the Marketplace. Looking for £30-35, PM me for more details.
PM sent man I hope my neck turns up this weekend, I really want to get this project moving. the paint is screaming at me to use it. was gonna spray my old car with it for a laugh lol.
8.
Surely there's good 'uns and bad 'uns from any factory? Isn't any factory capable of turning out a few "Friday afternoon specials"?
"LOL" doesnt cover it, loads of people looked at me strange in the office when I read that. But saying that they thought it was wierd bringing my bass into work with me this morning. But im not leaving a £1200 bass on the back seat of my car all day... IN BIRMINGHAM! Although ive got a suitcase of clothes, Zoom B2.1u and laptop in the boot lol. god I love working away from home
9. You're going to get loads of diffrent answers to this. But so ive been lead to believe... Main diff.. Build quality materials are diffrent (wood, electonics etc) where its made (although they are all mass produced in both US and MEX, I heard 1/8 US you need to sort the neck out, 3/8 in MIM, but thats just hear-say) If you want to improve it, try changing the bridge/pups/pots/strings, Personally id slap on a badass ii bridge and Exiler 45-100 strings and leave it as that.
10.
Clear ones protect the bass while showing the grain underneath and this bass is a particularly nice piece of wood.
Protect from what?? if your not using a pick whats it protecting??
11.
+1 and is that a matching headstock on the first post?
Yeah it is, im going for a matching headstock on the new neck too.
12. It was pretty faded, you cant really see from the pics (gonna take better ones with a cam when I start spraying etc) The colour it started as is lovely, under the scratch plate its a really nice metalic green/blue, and when I started rubbing it down the colour shone through, but its gone too far now to keep it that colour, plus I fancied a change. My music shop called me back saying they got some badass ii bridges in, £65!!! I think ill be getting them imported instead Neck should arrive this week I hope, if its here on friday then I know what im doing this weekend!! might have to wait for the pots/pups/bridge though. I found out on friday my car MOT ran out that day.. and well.. I ended up buying a new car cause I pretty much ran the last one into the ground. so im a little broke at the mo.
13. Inspector Gadget or Mario Brothers, always get a laugh. Normally I ask them what bands they like and try to play something they know. few old chilis songs usually does it. "can you play white stripes???" lol
14.
I've been looking for a 2nd hand mexican fender for around £200 but can't find anything at the moment, I'd prefer to buy 2nd hand anyway.
you'll be lucky, mine was £300 but in pretty good cond, few buckle scratches mind. Sure if you wont mind one thats pretty beat up you'll find one for £200. seen some pretty cheep Jag's on ebay that retail about £400 and going for 120ish.
15.
In the garden centre by the looks of it son ;0)
well amusing.
16. that looks emense, I hate clear scratchplates on 'ray's but my god it looks amazing on this. cant wait to see the finnished product.
17. hahaha. awesome
18. I hate clear scratch plates, I really dont see the point in them at all unless you use a pick and hate the look of the pickguard. Leave it on!
19. I very much doubt you will be alowed the neck as hand luggage, last year I went to barsalona on a skate trip with Death Skateboards team and they wouldnt allow our boards in the cabbin because they can be used as a weppon, pretty sure they will see a neck that way too.
20. well im putting it together first so if I need to route out the neck pocket or whatever then it wont mess up the paint job. Takeing the neck off to spray it though. good idea about the wood, I was just gonna use some wire hanging off the celing that my dad uses for car pannels but after some thought, ill need to apply preasure to it when dabbing the ruffled pastic bags to it to give it the effect, which wont really work on a wire. Ill try out the wood idea. thanks!! Glad you like the colour too, I was pretty unhappy I couldnt get flip paint but this marble will make it stand out, I think ill be happy with it. Oh and thanks for the tip about the head stock, its set my mind at ease. Thanks guys.
21. morning, I need a little help. Once the neck comes and its gets fitted, its time for the spray job. im painting the head the same colour as the body. Is there anything special I have to do to the head before I spray it? it currently has a gloss finnish, but if I rub it down back to the wood then ill need to treat the wood yes?? if so any ideas with what????
22. awesome. I am the musicman, I come from far away and I play, (what can you play) I play the stringray, wump pa wump pa up pa pa, wump pa pa, wump pa pa. Either that or im virgil from thunderbirds who also plays Mexican Jazz music???
23. my '87 is being delivered as we speak. nice smoothe body shape, feels great in my hands but after a few beers she gets well out of pitch. I could use some lessons on how to play it right, Bit of slap might get rid of the growl. (jk)
24. well, had a play with the paint, quite impressed with the results, not sure how to make it better though im sure there is a way, maybe not using a plastic bag? who knows. this is my results though on 2 test cards. this is a better pic of the body
25. thats awesome in the true sence of the word, I wish I had the time and effort to make one from scratch. congrats
