1. Id suggest finding one in a shop, but the chances of that are slim to none, might be worth ringing round some of the larger shops though to see if they have one in to have a play. Luckyly I had the cash available and bought one not knowing what it sounded like and I was more then impressed. But saying that, I play a lot of RHCP and I love fleas tone so I would love it. If you have the money spare id say buy one and try it for a while and if it doesnt suit you sell it back on, I do that with a lot of basses on here. think ive gone thru 8 in the last 2 years from this site lol. Plus if your not into sunburst, that blue sparkle Flea is well sexy!!
2. if someones selling a Flea they must be mad!!!! I love the musicman tone. I had a 'ray for about 2 years as my main bass and I loved it to pieces. I then bought a Modulus Flea and adored it. the neck profile is amazing. better then any other neck ive played (never played a status so cant compair but even beats a musicman neck which are IMO ten times better then any fender) I think its what tone your after that matters the most. altho the flea looks very much like a 'ray in terms of looks/pickups etc. its 18v which makes it quite versatile, but you'd be kidding yourself if you thought you could get a 'ray tone out of it like I did. Its very much its own bass. its not always about how much the basses cost, its how they suit the tone your after. id suggest getting on youtube and listening to people play with these basses to see if you like them or not. playability wise they are amazing, but if the tones not right for what you want it for its pointless. I love it to death, there is a thread only from last week saying how much its perfect for me and the amp im using. But after taking delivery of Eudes Shuker. Ive realised that tone suits my playing more then the Flea. Id suggest playing one and seeing what you think. If your round my area pop in for a coffee n a play. No hard sell either, im still not 100% sure if I should get rid yet cause the slap tone from the flea is much better then my new purchace. Chris
3.
Thanks, but things will be bad if I *really* like the Modulus On the Warmoth route - unless I'm being stupid, by the time you add it all up the Warmoth necks are going to be even more expensive than the Status ones
Well my Modulus is for sale
4.
Woah, those pinks look amazing! I hope you do like the sound of them too.
im not a fan, I prefer the D'Addario's that were on it. Gonna put them on my Modulus tomorrow if I havent cut them down too much, i think they will sound much nicer with the modulus growl. Ive never had DR string's so its nice to try them out. Are these the same as black beauties but pink?
5. possibly the best necks you can buy, you can get the action super low and you know it'l never warp. they are so smooth too. id go for graphite necks over wood any day of the week for playability. looks wise maple with maple fretboard will always have a special place in my heart. Id suggest playing one and figuring it out yourself, im sure there will be a basschatter around your area who would be willing to let you go on theirs. If your round the Doncaster area at any point you can pop in and have a bash on my Modulus if ya like.

thats god aweful. But I cant stand Ric's so that might have something to do with it. Maple Fender neck = Winner
7.
I can fully understand everyone's attitude to music shop salespeople, but as someone who has worked in music stores for over 25 years, you can't imagine some of the sonic bashing our ears are subjected to on a daily basis.
How many times a day do you hear "Smoke on the water"? oh and "Killing in the name" (but not tuned down to D)
8. I remeber "downsizing" my rig, went from a 412 to a 610. Didnt really go to plan.
9. Got some new strings thanks to Rowbee, and new Shaller tuning keys for my P bass from Fleabag.
10. Just noticed you dont have a feedback thread. Just bought some tuners from Pete. Great comms, quick and easy. Posted really fast + good packaging. Good BC'er Cheers Pete Chris
11. Just bought some Strings off Rob Quick and easy, posted really quick and good packaging. Cheers Rob your a star. Chris
12. Mellowship Slinky in Major B - RHCP. Soul to squeeze - RHCP 2 songs to that make me smile more then anything. Oh... and dont forget the Super Mario Theme, that always makes me smile. Oh and inspector Gadget theme!
13. Depends on your morrels really, I think I wouldnt have asked about the jag label and bought it if it was a large chain of stores, but if it was a side street independent shop id feel terrible. My guitarist picked up a US Strat for a knock down price of £590 and when they typed the figure into the card reading machine they forgot the last zero so he paid £59 for it, needless to say he didnt say anything and walked away with it. He hasnt been back to the shop since lol.

My Shukers

Yeah the ACG is amazing, sooooo much better then any 3-4 eq ive ever used before. The scale is really wierd, in a good way though. finding it so easy to play, its really opened up my eyes to difrent scale lenths. If I ever get around to getting Jon to make me a bass id definatly go for a 33" with the ACG pre. Loving it so much infact, ive even put my flea up for sale.
It's now in the very capable hands of Jobiebass though, so I know it'll be happy.
I wouldnt go as far as saying capable, but it is very happy. I havent put it down in the last 3 days. absolutely loving it, the ACG pre is emense too!
16.
Hey Chris, really glad the bass arrived safe and sound and that you're really digging it It was tough to say good bye, but I'm glad it's gone to a good home. Enjoy Eude
"Really digging it" doesnt cover it. its awesome in the true sence of the word. Cheers Eude.
17.
Well if you decide you like the look of my LE Sterling 4HH then I'd be happy to make up the difference.
I litterally just noticed your Stirling. It looks amazing TBH. Maple necked MM's are sex. I just got rid of a fantastic trans red maple necked 'ray. Ive never had a stirling and ive always wanted one after owning a 'ray and a bongo. im not sure I could get on with the HH though, that was the main reason I got rid of my Bongo 5HS and OLP 5HH cause the neck pickup got in the way too much for slap. Ill have a think about it though.
18.
Loving the tort pickguard - interested in any trades Chris?
I was never a fan of tort guards. saying that I hate sunburst and I still love the look of this bass. not really sure about trades. would have to be something quite special to get my attention. strangely im not GASing for anything at the mo. wouldnt mind a Bongo 4H but the chances of finding one are slim, plus im not sure if I could get on with the painted neck again.
19. Afternoon, I have my lovely Flea up for sale. I could really do with the cash at the moment which sucks or id keep this, Id be open for offers on trades for much less expensive basses with money my way but like I said, I could do with the money as ive been out of a job for over 2 months. Its a 2008 Basslines, OBP1, Badass bridge, Modulus Hard Case with key+allen keys Included Ive put the JD sticker over the original Tort plate, Edit: Took the sticker off now, all is well. Looking for around £1050 but im open to offers, and ill post at buyers expense but pick up preferred. with sticker Now without again (iphone pics sorry for the quality)
20. few scales first playing around with the eq. I repeat the first bar of californication moving the eq slightly every time. once ive sussed out the eq, bit of slap, usualy aeroplane. then some fingerstyle usualy Soul to squeeze.
21.
Nice trio - very versatile. You'll regret letting the red 'ray' float away though - you mark my words!!!
Regretted it the day I sent it off, sentimental value too, was my first decent bass. Its gone to a good home and a BC member, if I regret it later on ill throw money at him till he gives it me back lol.
22.
Don't Sell The Flea! Lol. The shuker looks good. Remarkable difference in playbility due to the smaller scale or...?
its not that much smaller really, very suttle. It plays like a dream. Im so lucky Eude wanted something differant, I was spec'ing up a shuker very similer to this anyways, I just wanted a blue maple top, maple fretboard and a BAii but now ive played this, I wouldnt change a thing about it. The scale makes it quite a bit easyer to get around the frets too. Edit: Id edit the spelling mistakes but im iliterate and a lil drunk
23. Just had delivery of Eudes Shuker. Now I realise how a bass should be packed when transporting thru the mail services. Really spot on guy, great coms. Thanks so much Ewan! Top bloke. Chris
