1. I'm back with this same topic... I hope you can help again. I now have my 2 KAM Powerbars which work fine with a single KAM footswitch. So at least I have that for a default every gig. Problem is all it does is step through a single colour wash which gets a bit tedious. I now have my Transcension Master 64 LED controller and can programme ONE light on One of the bars - I thought I was getting somewhere but can't do anything else. So - Bass Chatters - Please help me.
2. Quite a good site, easy to navigate through. My only suggestions are to replace some of the grainy low quality pics with hi-res images and keep your Gigs page up to date, remove past dates or move them to another section if you want to show where you've played.
3. Always looking for new venues to play I clicked an 'application to play' link for a local club. A few minutes later in comes an email saying I need to register with Music Glue who will forward my application to the venue. What's your experience of this? Seems lazy or dodgy to me.
4. Used Blues played the inaugural Stafford Blues Festival. Great stage with ultra quality sound system
5. Think of it this way. Would you hire Adele or Cheryl Cole? (If that's how you spell it)
6. When the sound chap says " And can I have the bass please?" I usually play solid root notes at low middle and high positions on the fretboard. Then I'll play a walking bass figure across the board finishing with a bit of noodling above the 12th. At this point the SM will say "Thanks" and move on to the next muso. Any other suggestion as to a good sound check routine please?
7. Thought I should report back. Borrowed a speaker lead and the passive monitor sprung back to life. Proving the point that Bass Chatters can solve any problem. I thangyou.
8. Wrist suitably slapped! Will check various bits and report back. thanks for your help.
9. Dad - the small units work well for small venues, at larger places we do use more appropriate powered monitors. I'm not easily embarrassed so no problem in you asking... We always use the Ext Speaker output from the CXP to the CM10 and it worked well for years. On the cable front I do admit to always only using a standard instrument cable. Is that embarrassing? but am inspired by your suggestions and will try a few things. Thank you. It has never suffered a lager assault. ikay - Thanks for your input too. I'll take the CM10 to a rehearsal tomorrow and test it from the PA there. It worked well for years until this fault appeared.
10. Hi Dad3353 It's a Laney CXP-110
11. I use 1 x powered monitor and 1 x passive monitor for vocals foldback at small gigs. The powered monitor works perfectly well but the sound from the passive unit is weak to barely audible. I know how to wield a screwdriver and use a meter; what should I test and what are your suggestions to fix this? The faulty unit is a Laney CM10 Thanks
12. Take an extension reel, find another socket and override the damn thing. I've seen the chatter of an audience and clinking glasses set linters off. Edinburgh PO Club and Cumbernauld Town Hall are two of the worst.
13. Post an ad about yourself on Gum Tree immediately. State exactly what kind of band you want to join and move on. Good luck.
14. Friday night at McVention, Scotland's annual Status Quo convention. We opened Friday with a 90 minute set, followed by Predatur (Insert an umlaut above the U). Saturday was an acoustic Quo set by Status Quoing followed by original Quo drummer John Coghlan playing a blistering 2 hour set of fan faves backed by Predatus without their own drummer. Anyway, we opened with this Quo classic album track. 15. Narrow your search down to what you really want. This filters out unsuitable responses. This kind of wording worked for me on Gumtree. "Experienced bass player looking for working blues band" Include a link to a short clip of you playing live.
16. Bass / Vocals in one of Scotland's Quo tribute bands StatusNo for the past four years. Played some really nice venues to great people and met lots of good friends amongst the players in other Quo tribs/ cover bands. One thing I don't understand is the sniping from the sidelines from people not involved in the scene who think they have the right to stir up arguments and trouble. So we just totally ignore them. Next gig is McVention in Glasgow at the next May bank holiday.

18. Saturday 21 March. StatusNo at The Ferry in Glasgow. We opened with three new songs for us that our audience hadn't heard us play before but some dim witted bass player forgot to press record on the DVD. The dimwit is playing harmonica in this photo. Played two x 80 minute sets to a great reception from the crowd.
19. Why is the D paying extra? Does he hire a gong or something?
20. Thanks. I'll try that. Looking for spec on a biscuit bridge on a JD resonator.
21. Who makes Jim Deacon guitars? Do you have a contact for them please?
22. Take in ear plugs from your mp3 player and stick them into your ears. Plug a set of over ear cans into the Zoom. Easy peasy.
23. Thanks Lozz. Think I'll stick with what i know and like.
24. My strings of choice - or habit - are 45 - 105 on a P bass. What will be the most noticeable difference in changing to a heavier gauge?
25. Letraset? Now you're talking.
