Lifting the speaker helps loads, boost the mid (or cut the bottom and top) and don't stand too close to your rig but definitely in front of it. That's my experience anyway.
The moulds for ER9/15/25 are such that with an adaptor from Etymotic Research, you can plug in there own in ear monitors systems. Thus the moulds can be used as hearing protection OR with in-ears
OK, a few more questions. Do you get all 3 filters with the ER9/15/25? If not, which is likely to be the best choice? The website I just looked at suggested the ER15. If I then buy the matching ear monitors (T15 I think) how do I connect them up to a monitor system? I could go wireless, or presumably you can hard wire in-ear monitors. I seem to remember seeing a small unit to attach to your belt which connected to the audio out from the mixer, and you plugged the in-ear monitors into it, but I'm b******d if I can find it again. Maybe it was a weird dream! And if I go wireless, does anyone have a view on which system to go for? They seem to vary in price a lot from just over £100 to £600. Hope I haven't hijacked this thread too much.
Thanks for all the suggestions - much appreciated!
Also have a look at the Gator site - they makes loads of different bags, and I'm pleased with the ones I have.

Thanks guys, I'll get in touch with both those companies. Cheers Martin
The moulds for ER9/15/25 are such that with an adaptor from Etymotic Research, you can plug in there own in ear monitors systems. Thus the moulds can be used as hearing protection OR with in-ears. Etymotic also sell under the names Elacin and Heros (Heroes). When ayone refers to the ER range of plugs, they are refering to Etymotic Research. There are other companies out there doing in ear monitors. I think some of the best 'all in ones' are made by "ultimate ears". If you are after just straight cheap and cheerful (yet surprisingly good) ear protection, then look at the ER20 range. These are not moulded to your ear and use the funnel shape ends. With the plugs seated properly (so many seem to get it a bit wrong) you should get 20dB of attenuation and not too bad a sound. I found that I couldnt wear these for too long as I have very narrow ear canals, as I porved when I compared my ER moulds against my mates ones! I know this sounds boring, but do go back and read through the thread with a good cuppa.. all the salient info is right here for you. Yep, these are the Etymotic Research attenuators too. As you can see, under the Elacin name (same company)
Thanks Dan - a fount of knowledge as usual!

Can anyone suggest a source for speaker covers? I'm concerned about carrying the cabs outside when it's raining, so thought some slip over covers with holes for the handles would sort it. Cabs are EBS 210 and 212. Cheers Martin

Hi All, I need to get some ear plugs, and I want to go for the best. I've been reading through this thread, but it's soooo long I got confused Can you tell me the best choice for a moulded ear plug please - I would also like to add in-ear monitoring at some stage, so can that be added to the same ear plugs? Cheers Martin
Sorry I should have been clearer - I'm thinking of going the rack route (pre+superfly/poweramp maybe??). Looking for something a bit more upmarket than the Peavey. If only that cab had been 4 Ohms... Ok being very specific, I need an ABS rack case/rack bag, rack tuner, lightweight 4 ohm cabs, tasty preamp/poweramp or tasty head (H&K would be great...). I have cash to add to the equation too...
ok, no worries. The reason I'm selling the cab is because it's 8 ohms - bought on a whim, and not thought through properly Have you seen the Ampeg preamp Dood is selling? Might be what you are after. Good luck with finding what you want.
HI, I'd love your Taylor and it so happens I have some surplus power amps and also a cab, having just upgraded my rig. Don't know what you are looking for, but I have a Peavey MAX450 (about 350 watts into 4 ohms) and a Peavey MAX700 (500 watts into 4 ohms) plus a MAG410 8 ohm cab. Anything there of interest?
sorry, the Max450 is 300 watts into 4 ohms: http://www.soundland.de/catalog/product_in...us_change/deact and the Max700 is 475 watts into 4 ohms: http://www.andysmusiconline.com/URLrewrite...ey_max_700.html

Just bought a 4U rack from Kevin (6stringbassist) - arrived in mint condition and well packed, so definitely 5 feedback from me.
That's absolutely no problem Martin, if you have any questions in the meantime please DO ask.. I'm a gear geek and there's nothing like a good bit of bass 'anoraking'. I think I have just coined a new phrase! p.s. Yes the Powersoft certainly does have a 'price tag', Its the best power amp I have ever owned, and it weighs so little for it's power output. If the F1 proves itself on a big stage, I may even think about parting with it.. but then again... maybe I'll hang on to it!
Hi Dood, I'm back in the uk, and I've done some auditioning this morning and decided where I want to go with my gear. I've ordered an EBS neo212 to pair with the neo210, and I played the pair through an Eden WT405 as well as my peavey max700. Just loved the sound of the Eden. So much better than using the peavey with the pair of neo's. Now I know what you mean by hi-fi bass gear! I found one uk dealer who had a WT405 left which I've also ordered; there's no official uk distributor for eden at the moment. So, to summarise, I'm sorted (or will be in a week or so) but it means I don't want to buy your pre-amp - sorry about that. So now I have some gear to sell. I think I'll keep the max700 as a backup, and sell my ashdown mag410 and peavey max450 (I've run out of storage space Peavey is great value gear, but it was definitely the weak link in my chain!
If I maybe so bold to bump back on to page one. Check the updated price ^^^^^^^^^.
Hi Dood, I could be interested - I want to change from my peavey max700 to a preamp and power amp. I was thinking of either the PJ bass buddy preamp or the EBS preamp. Your ampeg looks like a good option. What power amp do you use it with, or what would you recommend? Cheers Martin -
Good move IMHO - just done it myself and I'm finally happy with my sound. I put a similar post up recently and the general concensus was you can't go wrong with a Yamaha or there's a Crown one for about £400 which is excellent for the money.
so what have you ended up with? I still want to replace my max700 as I'm sure it limits - seems to compress when things get loud.

Anyone tried the Superfly specific cabs?
I know Markbass do one for £400. Any others?
EBS Neo210 is 4 ohms - not sure if they do 8 as well. More money than markbass tho. -
I will reply with just a simple +1 mate.. but you know what I'm thinkin!!!!
I use a hartke kickback 120 for practice - also works quite well as a stage monitor. Doesn't go deep enough for my liking, but I've never heard the bigger cabs - could be interesting.

Hi, I'm wondering whether the PJB BassBuddy would be a worthwhile investment. I would want to use it as a preamp to drive the power stage of my Peavey MAX700. Anyone have any experience of it? I fancy a visual EQ for ease of setup. Cheers Martin

But them I am very easy going!
+1 for that - BC is a great source for help and advice for the less experienced player. An Happy Christmas to you all, Cheers Martin
