2.
WHat shipping company will send it for £10? Would it be insured? Pete
I just used City Link to ship a Max700 which weighs about 20kg. They charged me £10.30 + vat, so a bit over £10. I never checked insurance, but I sent it using my work's account, and I would be extremely surprised if we used shipping that didn't have decent insurance cover. Cheers Martin

 5.
I missed that - when did it happen?
Last year I think. Eden got rid of all their UK distribution early last year, so I reckon it was around then. They've now gradually set up new dealers.
 6.
Does anyone ever have problems playing with our loud cousins the drummers?
No problem - we have to put our drummer through the PA to play over me!
 7. I use a MarkBass F1 plus EBS Neo212 - I'm toying with the idea of changing to a pair of 2ingle 12" cabs to make the system more flexible/portable. Very happy with the sound. The only problem is I keep forgetting to pick up the F1 in it's bag as it's so small it hides from me! Cheers Martin
 8. +1 for all you say. And they're going monthly from next month (?) and want us to upgrade the subscription. I'll wait to see the next issue.

 14.
hi mate! im interested in the mixing desk, is it any good? by good i mean, does it thin sound out if i were to DI? cheers Phil
Hi Phil, You want to DI your bass into the mixer? With a DI box or using an amp/preamp? I've taken a DI from my amp into this mixer, but I also used backline at the same time. My reason for DI'ing the bass was so that the sound engineer could adjust the bass balance in the mix. It also depends what PA cabs you use - just tops or with bass bins. The Xenyx range have quite good microphone preamps (at least for the price) which is where you would connect your DI. I'm not not sure I can answer your question, it's something you'd need to try out. Sorry I can't be more help. Cheers Martin
 15.
As I'm not too in the know with heads and cabs, say I got the 450, how much would it cost for a cab (I'd only ever at the very most use it for small gigs)? Only ever dealt with combos y'see... Thanks
It depends what kind of sound you want. I originally bought it with a Peavey 410TVX, and the sound was immense. However the cab was too heavy for me to transport, so I replaced it with a lightweight EBS 2 x 10. A reasonable 2 x 10 gives a sound I like. For example, a Peavey 210TVX is listed at £197 new, with a street price of around £160. http://www.peavey-eu.com/pop_product.php?f...UK&key=1912 Or the 115TVX 1 x 15 lists at £168, with a street price around £150. http://www.peavey-eu.com/pop_product.php?f...UK&key=1911 A lightweight 2 x10 would cost considerably more new. There might also be something suitable advertised here on basschat. Cheers Martin

 18. cheers OBBM - I was aware you could damage a valve OT but didn't know why, until now......
 19. I'm open to offers - I need to clear some space!
 20.
Thanks for the prompt replies So is it better to stay on the higher side ?? ie adding more cabs is ok Tony
With transistor amps (as obbm pointed out) you must not go below the rated load, but you can go above it. So putting a 16 ohm load on an amp rated at 4 ohms minimum is safe, but reduces the output power considerably. As you add cabs you reduce the resulting load impedance, so that could cause a problem if you go below the minimum load. You must make sure you work out the resulting impedance of the cabs you intend to connect together in parallel, and you must not go below the minimum load value of the amp. As obbm rightly points out, with valve amps the load impedance should be matched to the value the amp requires (sometimes this can be adjusted within the amp). Cheers Martin
