+1 for Cherry
Its a great wood, much underestimated
This is my tele, Cherry body and neck.
Note - English cherry is different from American cherry. American seems to be more common at most timber merchants but I think English has better colour to it
about time for some more pix

Yer I'll bring something along. Weekdays are better for me so I can tie it into a "work" visit somewhere close. Would be cool to meet up with Discreet too at same time if we could work it out????

Wow. It's like a curvy organic manta-ray type bass. A seriously good looking bass...

+1 to all that
tele body is very short so it would neck dive like crazy as a bass,
How about
32" scale to help neck dive
Cut 5mm off the top and stick a nice piece of wood on the top
Stick a 50's single coil P pickup in the bridge jazz position and make it look like a telecaster esquire

Get a cheep tap set and VERY carefully tap the hole out, you then can lock in a screw with hex head and adjust.
Put a llittle pressure on the neck in the way you want it to bend by pushing up or down on headstock so the new screw wont have to work as hard to turn the truss rod
no guarantee it'll work but might make it playable
