  1. Thanks for this, after a lot more research I'm pretty set on an AM pro ii, and dropping in the pure vintage '60 pickup. I know for sure I love that neck, and I'm inclined to agree with you on the simplicity of the controls being a massive plus. My main bass is an active 6 string, and the simplicity is something that I always loved about my old P bass. The only thing that gives me pause is that I'm living so far away from anywhere where I can demo ANY higher end basses so I am going to have to buy blind. I've heard of people having a few issues on the am ii's where the neck needs a shim out of the box, or the nut hasn't been cut quite right. The plan is to look around for some websites of smaller shops in the EU who might be able to do an honest QA assessment / set up prior to shipping.
  2. These are glorious basses. Good luck with the sale!
  3. Yeah exactly. I was looking at the new american vintage ii, it sounds great, but I'm not sure if I'm going to like that neck having spent so much time on the american professional i, and making that leap blind feels like not a good idea. I'm actually starting to think about getting the pro ii and sticking some custom shop 62 pickups in. Something decidedly different to what I had before, but still a tone I'm likely to love, and feel I'll be familiar with. Saying that... Does anyone know if there was any change to the necks from the professional i - ii?
  4. Thank you! Glad to hear I'm not alone in my love of that particular bass! Mine was the typical olympic white affair, strung with labella flats. I do like the idea of the heel shape on the new ones but I just don't know if I can get my head around paying that much for something that just doesn't sound quite as good to my ear.
  5. I sold my american pro (1) precision some time ago and it's my biggest gear sale regret by a long shot. I absolutely loved everything about that bass but things got tight financially for a while and it had to go. I've been watching a few sound comparisons between the new pro ii and pro i and I'm just not sure I like it quite as much as the old one. With that in mind I've been looking at some other P bass options, and I'm wondering if anyone has tried a california vs and if so how it stacks up to the real thing in terms of tone? I'm currently living in the middle of nowhere in the balkans so trying either out is going to be very impractical.
  6. It certainly is! I wouldn't sell it in an ideal world but we could use the cash at the moment!
  7. I actually will be in Andorra This winter so if you fancy a drive down and it hasn't already sold we might be able to make something work. PM me if you're interested
  8. Dang, that's a real shame! Well... At least I learned something today 😅
  9. I have no experience with this so I'm liable to be totally wrong but I don't think VAT is payable on the goods since this is a private sale and I'm not a VAT registered business.
  10. Yes, this is strung B-C. No issues with the low B whatsoever. It sounds and feels great
  11. Up for sale is this beautiful short scale (33") Shuker singlecut 6 string. Bought here earlier this year to see if the 33" scale was right for me, it definitely is! I've had an amazing time with this bass but I have a custom Zon on the way now and we're going away for the winter so could do with raising some cash. Can be seen / played in Central Bristol. Can travel within a reasonable distance to deliver. Any questions at all please do ask Specs: - white ash body - squareish front edge (to mimic old slab style bodies) - forearm contour, rear rib carve and rear edge rounded to 1/2" - dark amboina burr drop top - individual bridge rail units - 17mm spacing - black hardware - 2 X EMG 45DC - neck and bridge - upgraded 3-band EMG preamp with mid freq sweep - satin topcoat - 33" scale - 24 frets - medium frets - 5 piece maple/wenge neck - 20.5mm deep at 1st fret, 22mm at 12th, gentle slim C profile - plain rosewood board - 20" radius - marching dark amboina burr headstock veneer - gotoh gb707 tuners - 57mm nut - carbon fibre neck reinforcement - MOP side dots - two way truss rod - brass nut - satin finish
  12. Thanks so much! Yea, it really does sound great and it's insanely versatile. So many usable sounds to be explored with the EQ.
  13. Thanks! I thought it looked fairly big. I know it was unlikely but if it were a 33" scale I'd have sold a kidney 😅 Best of luck with the sale!
  14. Bump for an unbelievably beautiful bass. What's the scale length / string spacing?
  15. Could really do with moving this on hence a PRICE DROP to £700 Bought this from new in June last year. It looks and sounds great and has tonnes of versatility. Unfortunately though my hands are just too small for the 35" scale and it's not getting the love it deserves. The finish really is quite impressive in the flesh and it's been incredibly well cared for. 16. Wow really? How short are we talking? Is it another shuker 6? I'm really getting curious about shorter scales. My wrist is not having an easy time with bigger stretches.
  17. Lovely looking bass! I've been considering a 33" 6 string for a while. My Yamaha is a 35" and sometimes I wish it were a little easier to play. Do you find the low B loses much with the shorter scale?
  18. That's great, just what I needed to know. Thank you!
  19. Hi all, I'm completely new to modelling and effects in general so please excuse the dumb questions. I'm really interested in getting a HX stomp to use with Janek Gwizdalas presets as well as to experiment with other effects. I was looking at the XL as it seems like the controls are a bit more friendly. The few questions I have are: 1) Does anyone know how many blocks the Janek presets use? My hope is that I could stick an amp model in there and replace my amp for home practice. 2) I haven't been able to find much information about an on board looper (other than that it's possible). Would I be able to have easy access to the looping functionality whilst using the Janek presets? 3) Would I be able to use all of this in conjunction? The looper, janek presets and amp modelling? The idea is that it would serve as a single bit of kit that I can use for home practice with headphones or studio monitors. Wondering if I might need to upgrade to the LT? I'd much rather use the stomp XL for the smaller form factor if possible. Thanks so much for any help, it's much appreciated!
  20. If this is still here when lockdown is over I'm really interested!
  21. Hi mate, interested in this. Do you have any pictures? Thanks! Edit: just realised how old this post is 🤦‍♂️
  22. Sorry! I just noticed you've already answered this! I think it's a bit wide for me. Good luck with the sale!
  23. Hi mate, do you know what the string spacing is on this?
  24. Still so much interest but no ones made the trip from the mouth to the pocket as my dad used to say
  25. Steve bought some books from me. Super smooth transaction, a pleasure!
