The Fenderish models are: (P and J versions) 1) Update: Ash/Maple (70ies position J pickups): Active electronics 2)Vintage: Alder/ Rosewood, Active electronics 3 Classic: Passive electronics. Usually Alder/Rosewood for J, Alder/Maple for P* These are just the standard specs. I've seen J Classics with active electronics, Update's with rosewood board etc. You just pick a model, and start customizing. For example I have a J Vintage fretless on order, with mahogany body, and cocobolo top. Standard are his own pickups, but you can still order them with SD, Fralins, Nordstrand, EMG, or a Aguilar preamo instead of the greengrove.

Some extra info: Indeed 1,5" @ the nut. It's very, very light, I would guess less than 3,5kg The knobs are for volume bass boost, treble cut (in passive or active) It has a Nordstrand pickup sounds amazing. Even better than the Antiquity that Celinder normally uses. -
**SOLD** I'm putting my Celinder P Vintage 4 for sale. It has some very special upgrades and amazing looking woods. Celinder P Vintage 4 Build october 2008, brand new! Alder body '59 burst Birdseye maple (jazzbass) neck. Brazilian rosewood fretboard with MOP dots and white binding. Passive/ Active (bass boost only) electronics. Includes case. I'm selling it becuse I never use Precision basses, althrough I love the looks and sound of them. and early 2010 my custom Celinder fretless will be finished. This is one of the best precision I have ever played, even compared to some pre-cbs fenders or other Celinder precisions I have owned. Shping is no problem. Pickup or meeting is prefered. I'm gonna think about it on my holliday. It's nice to think about these small details. Not really important but they can ad something extra to the bass. My preference is gold at this point. But I must admit that chrome is the safer option for a longer period. Although I never got tired of the gold/brass hardware on my Alembics.

So guys, what do you think with this bass. Gold hardware with the Cocobolo top, or the standard chrome hardware? ^_^

Great looking Fender. Love the colour. If I'm not mistaken that is not an orginal bridge for a '64. It looks like something Fender used from '68 for there basses. -
After long debate with myself I decided to stick with the cocobolo custom. A twin fretless is still tempting, but I already have the looks of such a bass, and like the idea of a truly custom and very special Celinder (how rare can you have it? ^_^ ) It's always a risk when you order something with specs you never played before, but after some emails with Chris I feel confident this will be a unbelievable bass, just as I thought when I (together with Chris) made the specs of this bass.

So after a hour of playing on my new bass. All I can say is WOW!! It is perfect. Looks, playability but especially the sound. When you play it passive (yes that's possible including passive treble control) you get the even fullness on the complete fretboard that I love on some of the old pre-CBS Fenders. Actually this is the first P-Bass that is combarable with the '66 P that I sold 2 years ago. (and never should have let go...) The P Classic is fantastic. (great attack and punch) but that bass is gonna be for sale very soon.

I think I prefer passive basses, but will see how passive it sounds with no bass boost at all, and working with the passive treble knob. It has the same pickup (SD Antiquity II) and bodywood as my P Classic, so I think it will be interesting to compare. If I want it passive + rosewood fretboard, I can always exchange the necks....

The binding is kind of odd, but i think in a good way. I love the braz. rosewood on the fretboard and the maple neck. There is alot going on in this wood. [url="http://img256.imageshack.us/i/img2463c.jpg/"][/url] The Bass is from Belgium, so tomorrow we meet half way for the transaction. I can't wait to see it in person. It is from 2008 and it's not cheap in any way unfortunatly. It's alot more expensive than the P Classic I bought six months ago. But the binding. rosewood board and the maple used for this neck are expensive upgrades.

It's got the CP-4 preamp, so in this case: volume active bass, passive treble, I'm very curious to compare the two P's this tuesday. I will write a short review this week.

Well, because I have Celinders to buy! ^_^ I just made a deal to pickup a Celinder P Vintage next tuesday. I like my P Classic, but prefer precision basses with rosewood fretboards, and this is a stunning example, even for Celinder standards. The one at Bassalone is build in 2007 according to the website. So this must be another bass. I will send the seller an email with some questions about this bass.

I can't remember that, but I'm not up to date on what is going on at Basschat. I'm kind of interested in the bass. It is the only passive Celinder Jazz with maple fretboard I have seen untill now.

No that is the Maccasar Ebony fretboard, that I put in my specs for my J Classic. It's sort of a perfect version for me, of this fantastic bass 4 strings and passive. The rio rosewood that Chris is using is very dark en feels and looks amazing to. Would also be great on the fretless J Classic 4, but the Maccasar Ebony looks just so amazing!

That's a great looking Bass. Love the Birdseye on that neck! I've owened a similar specd bass, that I really liked (but couldnt get used to the lines on top of the fretboard (that are hard to see in the dark, with the dots on the side like it a fretted bass....) So I decided I need to order a fretlessbass with no such problems. I also looked at other brands like AC, and Fender CS, but quickly decided it should be an Celinder again. Here is a Celinder I loved when I owned it. Except it was a 5 string, and hard to see lines on the fretboard. One of the most beautifull bassses I have ever seen in my life. Thanks, that sounds interesting. I'm still not sure about the pickups. I think I will go with the Celinder HC in the cocobolo, or singlecoils in the classic. Crazy Kiwi, you have a good point. But it doesnt make it easier. Sometimes I will take it along my Classic, but at other gigs I will take on of theese basses solo to a gig.

Thanks for the reply's guy's. I never played the Celinder Aura, but I heard some good things about it. The hardest part is: What do you order when you don't have an instrument you can compare it to? I played (and owned) different fretless Celinders. but they were all J Vintage instruments (and one RobAllen sort of custom Celinder bass) So do I order a bass, with (what I think) are some very cool specs for a fretless (the Cocobolo custom) or order an fretless version of my personal favorite bass of all time. (J Classic fretless)? I know both basses will be fantastic instruments, but still it's an hard choice.
