  1. A very fruitful rehearsal last night. One of the venues we play at is starting up a once a month Sunday Blues afternoon gig and asked if we would like to play, we are mainly a rock covers band, but have a sprinkling of ZZ Top, SRV etc, not enough songs to do a full blues set, but we are up for it. We decided on nine additional songs to learn for the blues gig to make up a full gigging set. White Room - Cream Roadhouse Blues - The Doors Red House - Jimi Hendrix Wishing Well - Free Oh Well - Slash Version Still Got The Blues - Gary Moore Walking by Myself - Gary Moore Honky Tonk Woman - Rolling Stones Oh Pretty Woman - Gary Moore We all did our homework and came together last night to work our way through them, we nailed the first eight and then came to Oh Pretty Woman, Martin our drummer counted us in and then it immediately crashed and burned big time, his drumming was way off, we asked him what he was playing and he said it was a Van Halen version, we all said that Van Halen had never recorded Oh Pretty Woman, Martin had mistakenly learnt the old Roy Orbison song Pretty Woman which Van Halen had done a heavier version of, we almost p*ssed ourselves with laughing so much. All in all, we managed to nail eight of the nine songs in a two hour rehearsal session, well pleased.๐Ÿ‘
  2. I was also really surprised Billy Idol was not featured in the Top 500, Rebel Yell or White Wedding at least.
  3. I would guess a fair few of the players on here are probably in rock orientated cover bands, out of interest I checked our current set list of 32 songs against this top 500 list, 16 of our set songs (50%) are included. It would be interesting to see what your results were.
  4. Iโ€™m very surprised Living Colour were not featured with The Cult of Personality.
  5. Good to see Joey B has a couple in there ๐Ÿ‘
  6. Yuk, that dreadful Joan Jett shite at number 390, that is one of my most hated songs, the radio goes off every time it comes on. ๐Ÿคฎ
  7. Nancy looking really great, canโ€™t believe she is now 71 years old.
  8. Her husband is Peter Bullick who plays lead guitar in her band, at the time of this video, he was also the lead guitarist in Paul Rogers Free Spirit Band, Deborahโ€™s band were the support to the Free Spirit Band tour in 2017, I managed to see them at Leicester De Montfort Hall. This clip was from the New Theatre in Oxford, part of that 2017 tour when Johnson and Plant joined Rogers for this track.
  9. Joey B - Breakthrough ๐Ÿ‘
  10. The extremely talented Brian Auger.
  11. Why do people like your drummer, singer and guitarist bother to be part of bands (very busy lives) there surely has to be a good degree of time commitment to make any band work, especially if you are gigging.
  12. Watched all the second episode last night, I had never heard of the featured bass player, her style of playing did not interest me and heavily distorted bass tone does nothing for me, good to listen to the comments of the other bass players though.
  13. On BBC4 now - Bonnie Raitt BBC Four Sessions.
  14. I have worked out which band you are a member of.
  15. Tonight 19th November, Sky Arts, 10pm. Gary Moore : One Night In Dublin A 2005 concert, where he is joined by Brian Robertson, Scott Gorham and Eric Bell.
  16. Am I correct in saying that Ross Valory had some different tunings on his bass.
  17. Bill Nelson still sounding great, plus his guitar skills ๐Ÿ‘
  18. I thought I would have a go at some early Joe Jackson songs, started on Different For Girls, lovely tune and reasonably easy to learn. The next one was Stepping Out, flippin eck, this is way beyond my capabilities, bass players must get a real feeling of satisfaction when they crack this one.
  19. King King, they remind me very much of Free and Bad Company.
  20. Some of the top end tribute bands are now starting to up their ticket prices, I always see Limehouse Lizzy every January, this coming January my tickets will be ยฃ28 each, well worth it if you are a fan of Thin Lizzy, they do a brilliant job of reproducing the original band.
  21. All the very best Tony, you are one of the good guys of this world. ๐Ÿ‘
  22. Good rehearsal tonight, nailed the Slash version of Oh Well, will be in the set for its first outing on Saturday night.
  23. Back in the 80โ€™s and 90โ€™s when I used to sign the receipt for the gig money at the end of the night, I used a different stage name for every signature ๐Ÿค”
  24. Walk and find some experienced players to work with, time is very precious, donโ€™t waste it.
  25. I would like to give a big shout out for Hellzero, Tonyโ€™s help with sorting out my issue with the jack has been above and beyond, a damn fine fellow ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘
