  1. Missed Nicks sister doing her solo slot as I arrived around 2.30pm. A great day of live bands doing thirty minute sets, timely changeovers due to running two stages. A really big turnout of punters, several hundreds, all having a good time in the lovely sunny weather. IMG_2714.avif
  2. Tonight BBC2, 10.50pm, Radio 2 in the Park, Def Leppard. Update, that was really good, the guitar sounds were awesome, Joe’s vocals were a lot better than I was expecting 👍
  3. I certainly admire you guys who do depping roles, I have been playing bass regularly in cover bands for over thirty years and the thought of depping fills me with dread. The thought of possibly learning thirty songs I have (as worse case scenario) never played before, for a one off gig would entail a lot of my time ( I don’t read music ), it’s tough enough learning a couple of new songs a month in the band I’m currently gigging with. Respect to you guys who do it.
  4. What track are you playing? I presume you will be playing alongside some of the local Peterborough muso’s, they will be giving you lots of support. I will hopefully be attending on the Sunday.
  5. Faith Healer by SAHB. I remember going to the rock disco’s at the Top Rank Suite in Cardiff during 1975, they used to play this track through the massive PA, the throbbing intro to the song was awesome, you could feel it hitting your chest. I would be surprised if Stub Mandrel didn’t attend any of the rock disco’s or live gigs there.
  6. Really enjoyed “We want the funk” Currently watching James Brown Electric Proms, outstanding musicianship from the band, they are sooooooo tight.
  7. Heard a rumour there could be up to twenty local bands playing throughout the big day including several disbanded ones that are reforming to just perform on the day.
  8. Clicked on it, never heard of Rumble, with regards to the track, lasted 22 seconds and turned it off. They will probably get a slot on the next series of Jools Holland 😀
  9. Just watched some of the funeral cortège going through Birmingham on the TV, the family stopped by where the floral tributes have been laid and placed some there themselves, you could see they were broken and clearly very upset, there were quite a few cretins in the crowd showing absolute disrespect by chanting and singing Ozzy Ozzy Ozzy Oi Oi Oi while this was going on, maybe a bit of silence would have been more appropriate.
  10. Some guy called Les Paul on the headstock.
  11. Paul Rodgers.
  12. Caught a bit of the Scissor Sisters set last night, CMAT should take note, this is how to put on a polished professional performance.
  13. Just got in from a gig and turned on the TV for Glastonbury and greeted with an act called ANOHNi and The Johnson’s, WTF was I watching and listening to, I just don’t get it, music just sometimes goes in some strange directions.
  14. Vernon was born in the U.K., he deliberately used the U.K. spelling when setting up Living Colour.
  15. Yes I have it, obviously worse when you are in really quiet surroundings, like now while I’m typing out this response, just a really annoying high pitched whine, had it for many years, plus my hearing is definitely getting worse, struggle to hear high frequencies i.e. the timer on the oven from a distance, I put it down to riding motorcycles and playing in bands for over forty years.
  16. Awesome band, they were really unique as an all black band playing hard rock and playing it to an exceptionally high level, love these guys. Used to play Love Rears It’s Ugly Head in a rock band many years ago, I’m not sure I could still physically play it now in older age.
  17. I really enjoyed the set, a fantastic back catalogue of Police and solo Sting material to choose from, three damn good musicians, dressed in just jeans and tee shirts (no fancy stage clothing), no backdrop, just their back line and stage lighting.
  18. There will always be conflicts of interest and if your intention is to gig regularly, even as much as a gig every other week, chances are it won’t happen. Its bad enough keeping a diary for one band and it’s members, attempting to work around another couple of diaries is a nightmare.
  19. Sting at the Isle of Wight Festival on now.
  20. On now Live at Montreux, from 1997 Jazz Festival, Eric Clapton, Marcus Miller Bass, Steve Gadd Drums, David Sanborn Sax and Joe Sample Keys, really high end musicianship 👍👍👍
  21. fretmeister AKA Monsterslippers.
  22. Just learnt the FM version of Heard It Through The Grapevine, our band played it live for the first time Saturday night.
  23. I would pay £90 for them if they made me play like him.
