  1. Currently on Sky Arts tonight - INXS: Live Baby Live, Wembley Stadium 1991, brilliant gig.
  2. Was it Macca ? Word is that Lennon played bass on Helter Skelter.
  3. Tickets purchased for Limehouse Lizzy in January 2025.
  4. When I stop gigging, which will most probably be in the next couple of years, I will do exactly the same, sell everything, I have zero interest in hanging on to my gear and just playing at home, it’s quality gear and I would sooner see another musician benefit from using it.
  5. With the demise of retail music instrument shops, a vital source has disappeared with them, the notice board in store, this was a great way of finding local bands looking for musicians or musicians advertising they were available, a sad loss. ☹️
  6. It’s hard to stay positive after you have been looking for a band for such a long time, keep looking, something will come along when you’re probably not expecting it. I have checked out a lot of your Youtube couch videos, your playing is definitely competent and you should have no problem joining a classic rock and blues band, I recon I have played 90% of those songs in your videos over time and are still playing some of them in my current band. Unfortunately age creeps up on all of us, I listen to some band recordings I was on from twenty years ago and I know I definitely cannot play to that level now, I have lost a certain amount of dexterity, I started off bass being a 100% pick player, over time I have transformed into a 100% fingers player, I would now struggle to hold a pick due to a medical condition that’s now with me for the rest of my life.
  7. Chris Buck superb guitarist, beautiful tone and technique 👍
  8. Fifty gigs a year, that’s on average almost one gig every weekend, do you rely on the gig money?, if not, then it’s almost like doing another job. My solution would be to be very selective and weed out the poor gigs, this could possibly drop it down to 30 gigs per year and then use the freed up time between those gigs to learn some new songs.
  9. Currently on BBC2, Sting live set at Radio 2 Party In The Park. Dreadful sound mix, almost unlistenable, everything sounds distant, especially Stings vocal, if it doesn’t improve I’ll be switching off. ☹️ Update, it has improved a bit, great band.
  10. Someone took a picture of my gear at a gig we played on Friday night and put it on Facebook.
  11. It’s all relative, started my first job in 1972, my weekly wage was just over £9. Went to the first Knebworth Festival in 1974 and that was £2.75p. I noticed Stray were on the bill at Weeley, one of our fellow bass players on here currently plays with the band.
  12. That’s a bit of a rarity nowadays, two Peavey combo’s on stage.
  13. Might be a silly question Daryl. Are you removing the jack from the bass when you are not playing ?
  14. Very frustrating rehearsal last night, schoolboy error which we should all know better. We decided at the last rehearsal a cover song we could add to the set. Turned up last night, myself and the drummer learnt one version, the vocalist another and the guitarist in his infinite wisdom learnt a live Glastonbury version 🤪 Every version was a different structure, so much time was wasted to come to a compromise of how we were to play it, a bit of a joke. It won’t happen again, we will ensure every member is learning exactly the same version of a song before going ahead with it.
  15. Pretty sure they did a slot on The Old Grey Whistle Test back in the day.
  16. JST is pretty well known within the blues circuit, but otherwise an unknown to folks who aren’t into blues.
  17. They just walk into shops nowadays, help themselves and just walk out ☹️
  18. Massive live production, superb musicianship, exceptional bass sound, hairs on back of neck reaction 👍👏
  19. Blimey, this is like a question on the 1% Club 🤪
  20. Just seen some of the Avril Lavigne set on YouTube, excellent performance, top notch vocals and backing band, really rocking to a capacity 70k crowd. I agree with a lot of the comments directed at the festival organisers that she deserved the bigger stage, more worthy than a couple of the female performers who shall remain nameless, who’s performances were at best mediocre.
  21. This is the version we are currently doing, our new vocalist wanted to do a rockier version of the song, he suggested the FM version, I still prefer this one, but was out voted.
