  1. Jaz Lochrie always played it very well when he was in Bad Co and Paul Rodgers backing band, found a vid, song starts at 50 minutes in.
  2. Been playing this song for many years, just dropped it from our current set, it always goes down well. A previous band I was in wanted to do it, but a step and a half down to suit the singer, I put my foot down and refused to do it in that key with a four string bass.
  3. For our Classic Rock set I generally play 90% fingers and (10% pick for the faster songs). Learning a new song last night that required a fast picking action and was seriously struggling as it’s not really my style of playing, Out In The Fields by Gary Moore. I going to have to put in a lot of practice to get the speed and technique bang on.
  4. You would have no work around our way at those rates, the pubs would not pay it, £250 is probably the average and there are some very good bands up this way who can probably push for £300.
  5. Just book all your gigs at venues next to rivers, that should sort the vocalist transport issues.
  6. Personally I wouldn’t think 400w is enough, obviously depends on what type of music your band plays (you didn’t mention this). 8 inch speakers are small, I would be surprised if they would ever take a kick drum being put through them, ideally you need a good bass sub for kick drum.
  7. It’s either Bring out your rubbish Gee up Hercules You dirty ole man
  8. I generally find that placing a wine gum under each corner does the trick.
  9. Readily available from the Australian cricket team 😀
  10. The moral of the story is to arrive at the gig first and set your gear up, no issues then.
  11. The old days with TE and now with MB
  12. Lozz196 I totally get what you are saying about the rehearsal side of things for a consistent sound. I just take my 1 x 15 to rehearsals because it’s the lighter than the 2 x 10, sound quality isn’t that important to me at rehearsals, as long as I can clearly hear what I’m playing, we usually rehearse to learn new songs, getting the new song right is the priority, I know the sound quality will be fine when I use my normal cab combination on a gig.
  13. My bass set up is just used as backline and does not go through the PA. I did use two Markbass 15 inch cabs, one on top of the other. I now use one Markbass 15 inch cab and a 2 x 10 Markbass cab on top, the sound is miles better with this combination IMO.
  14. That picture should be on the no room for the bass player thread.
  15. Are you sure * Its definitely affecting your typing 😀
  16. OK for Jeremy Corbyn to borrow it for his next appearance at Glastonbury.
  17. Several years ago our drummer put in his notice as he wanted to concentrate on his other band for corporate gigs. Steve our guitarist said he had someone in mind who would do an excellent job of replacing him, I turned up for the first rehearsal to find our new drummer was Jeff Rich ex Status Quo.
  18. It was a good job it was her who stood on your foot and not him.
