  1. Went to the first two Knebworth Festivals, definitely paid for them, certainly weren’t free.
  2. Been playing bass for many years, before that I was a guitarist. Moving from guitar to bass it was natural to use a pick and I used it all of the time on bass for a few years, I gradually weened myself off it and now play predominantly with my fingers, so you could say my style has completely changed.
  3. All the warning signs are there, it ain’t gonna happen.
  4. I suppose it depends what type of covers you are doing.
  5. Cannot see any issue with this request if it’s a covers band. If it’s an established gigging band, they would already know every song on the set list, giving the person auditioning their own choice of songs (in this case four) from the set list is a great idea. The band would need to confirm the versions (formats) they play and what key if different from the originals.
  6. I thought all the ashtrays were throw away when the smoking ban kicked in 😀
  7. Just an observation, surely if you are doing covers and the original used a fretted bass, why use a fretless, it will lack the attack IMO. I would personally use a fretted most of the time.
  8. Excellent documentary, a very complex and at times a very un- likeable human being, but a fabulous musician.
  9. A 90 minute documentary on Ginger Baker, covering his 60 year career. The late great Jack Bruce is bound to be featured.
  10. Blimey, I thought the old page three girl Sam Fox had taken up bass 😀
  11. Talking Pictures TV - Channel 81 Freeview, Freesat 306, Sky 328, Virgin 445.
  12. Talking Pictures TV tonight at 10pm (Friday) A two hour documentary film made in 1973 covering the London rock scene from 1964 to 1973, featuring Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix to name a few.
  13. Our band is looking to do a rock instrumental, I’m considering suggesting this Metallica track, just concerned it might be a step too far for me to do it justice.
  14. Get the drummer to carry it 😀
  15. Tough decision, but family must be your priority. Your very last sentence causes a bit of concern, every band I have ever been in works on any new song introduced to the set has to be agreeable to every member of the band, if one member is not happy with doing it, it doesn’t get learnt.
  16. Probably would have been a good idea (time permitting) to have had a little rehearsal with them to go through those specific songs. Enjoy your night, hopefully it will lead on to some other live gig opportunities for you.
  17. I have seen the band many times, this is really bad for them, I sincerely hope they manage to locate their van and gear.
  18. He’s got some neck attempting a job like that.
  19. Correct terminology please, clock technician.
  20. Booked a Premier well in advance and £29 for the night, incredible price. Several of my pals were a bit lazy and left it a couple of weeks after I had originally booked it and paid nearly £90 for the same date.
  21. Does the fishing line have to be a specific breaking strain for maximum effect?
