Culture Club in concert on the BBC Red Button this morning, BG vocals really bad.

I personally wouldn’t go to my local pub to see Boy George, his voice is totally shot.

Remembered the name of the sound guy, he is called Noodles, not sure if he is still there.

Played at the Voodoo Lounge a few times, great venue, they had a top guy doing the sound and he would record every gig through the desk. A good restaurant upstairs at Mama Liz’s, nice Cajun food. There seems to be something odd being advertised about your gig in Stamford tonight, it shows you are playing at the Corn Exchange and The Voodoo Lounge, double booked ⁉️

Yeh, had my hearing tested when I had the impressions done at Boots, surprisingly my hearing was OK, slight loss in left ear but nothing to worry about.

See my latest post end of page one, still the same issue in a live gig situation. Our vocalists studio is very large and at rehearsals, we set up exactly as we do on stage with the back line and full PA, we don’t usually rehearse at full gig volume, it was just at this specific rehearsal I needed to check how the earplugs performed at normal gigging volume.

Put them in a good thirty minutes before the sound check, same problem, could not hear my bass, cranked it up till I could and drummer complained it was mega loud. The guitarist and vocals then had to turn up a bit to get the balance with my loud bass volume, too loud for the whole band, so we all turned down a touch, at which point I was struggling to hear my bass again, played the first three numbers and then resorted to taking one ear plug out for the rest of the gig. Will be contacting ACS again tomorrow to arrange getting them changed to either a 15 or possibly a 10, as there is no way I’m going to get on with these 17’s as they are.
