1.
I've just jotted down the band's rehearsal history. It's a start-up band, and the full has only met 3 times: Rehearsal 1 - Went ahead without lead singer who was sick. Room costs split between those present. Rehearsal 2 - As rehearsal 1 Rehearsal 3 - As rehearsals 1 and 2 Rehearsal 4 - Cancelled. Guitarist's wife sick. No room costs Rehearsal 5 - Cancelled. Both singers (man and wife) sick. No room costs Rehearsal 6 - Cancelled. Guitarist's wife sick. No room costs At this point, I suggested a short summer break while people recovered from various illnesses, and the guitarist's wife gave birth. Rehearsal 7 - All present! Room costs split evenly Rehearsal 8 - All present, but guitarist and both singers arrived with no money. Room costs split between drummer and myself. Rehearsal 9 - All present. Room costs split between those who didn't pay the previous time. Rehearsal 10 - Due tonight. Cancelled late because guitarist's wife is sick. Guitarist has offered to pay room costs.
I would kick that lot into touch and find another band, those types will always be unreliable.
2.
sh*te
You could not have put it better, absolutely agree with your comment.
3.
This ^ I'm not a fan of rehearsing ever as a rule, and certainly not for covers.
One reason for not joining would be because they don't rehearse, no rehearsing equals sloppy gigs.
4. Good to see Steve Gadd is included in the list.
5.
Could just as easy say classic rock should be left in the 70s. I think the main thing is the gear. It wouldn't look right with a MacBook and midi keyboard on stage. Real analog synths are expensive.
Classic Rock bands at least use humans to do the drumming and not machines.
6.
Well we did the gig last night and it went down really well, our drummer was amazing, and the good thing to come from it is that we now know that we have TWO excellent vocalists in our band, which means we are very versatile and should be able to fulfil most gigs barring the whole band going down with something all at once.
Sorted, sack the vocalist (lightweight) and let the drummer take over the vocals. One less to pay and more gig money for the rest of you.
7. Why bother, it's best left in the 80's IMO.
8. It's a shame Jack is no longer with us. Cream, a proper three piece, fantastic musicians and lots of noise.
9. Very good musicians and make a lot of sound for a three piece, just a bit boring after a few tunes.
10. Not as many punters as usual, the football is killing it at the moment, can't wait for it to end.
11. I'm a big fan of the band, we play a couple of their numbers in our set. They failed to impress me with their performance last night, it was weak and very sloppy. It really showed when they played Tush, the guitarist was behind (timing) the bass and drums.
12. It's true, yet another amazing musician lost this year, 2016 is looking to be a bad year so far.
13. Good luck with the new band. I'm surprised you managed to get booked with only ten songs unless you were support to the headline act. We did our first gig with our new band in February and we ensured we had twenty four songs rehearsed before making any bookings, maybe venues in our part of the country expect more or is this the norm?
14. Paul Rodgers, Steve Perry, Freddy Mercury, Marvin Gaye, Michael McDonald
15. Got to play support to Wishbone Ash a few years ago, my heroes from the early 70's. I took along my Pilgrimage album from 1971 with me, had a chat with Andy Powell (nice guy) and he signed it for me. The poster for the gig has pride of place in a frame in my music room.
16. One of my all time favourite bands. They were part of the line up at the first Knebworth festivals I attended back in the mid 70's, one of my other all time bands were also on the line up, the Allman Brothers Band. My pal is holidaying in Florida in June and by pure luck while he is there, Journey and the Doobies and playing a double header gig in Tampa, I'm feeling a little jealous.
17. One that has been left in the fridge all night.

22.
I didn't. He demanded payment for Children In Need when all others gave their time for free. He shamelessly plugged artists and bands he had an interest in on his radio show. Sorry for any offence taken.
A bit out of order I would say. How many bands would not have made it if John Peel had not "shamelessly plugged artists and bands he had an interest in" ?
23. What a first month of this year, another well known person leaving us. He will be sadly missed.
24. Me in the mirror - hopefully !!!!!!
