  1. Update: Despite the Shop app telling me my magazine hasn't been shipped, I'm now holding my copy of issue three. It seems pretty good although the lack of details about writers and publisher make me wonder if Dan is doing everything.
  2. I hadn't seen your comment @Goliath_FX when I wrote the above.
  3. I ordered issue three, print copy, about ten days ago. I've received nothing and no one is replying when I email. Maybe this is a one person operation, but it's not giving me a warm fuzzy feeling. Has anyone else had any developments?
  4. I bit the bullet and changed the strings not long after my last post. Very happy with the results. I'll check out the Warwick sets, thanks. I also seem to have one of the few EHBs that doesn't need its locking jack hobble. Heck, I even like the Barts.
  5. Thanks you!
  6. I keen to restring an Ibanez EHB ms bass E to C. I'm finding it very hard to find an appropriate blank nut so wondered if anyone has succeeded with that. Also, has anyone just put E to C strings on with the original nut? Any words of wisdom would be appreciated.
  7. If someone buys mine I'll be right back to get this. I had the five string version of this, which was lovely, and had no idea there was a sixer.
  8. No longer for sale.

  9. The new Epiphone Toby 5 string looks good, although to be fair I haven't played one.
  10. Enjoyed this interview. Lee Sklar has some great philosphies.
  11. I used to love playing a Jazz, precisely because of the slim neck. But one day I tried the Fender Precision 51 reissue and was smitten. Much bigger neck (though not as fat as a real 51) but perfect for me. You really don't know until you try.
  12. That covers the main differences. The string spacings are the same, as is the basic body shape (the 1005 has a little more access to the top strings). It is a terrific bass (presuming you want to play 5 string fretless) and is more versatile than people think. I once had someone at a Denmark Street shop tell me you can't play fretless in a soul band. I did, for over ten years! The GWB has been used for all sorts of projects since I had it. I do have a few more pictures of the bass, this time without me in them but featuring the hard case. I'm having trouble uploading them at moment but will happily email them if anyone is interested.
  13. Thanks. The new GWB1005's cost over £3000 so I figure this is a fair price.
  14. I'm selling my GWB1 because I've been lucky ebnough to get a GWB1005 and so the GWB1 is sitting around feeling unloved. It's the original Gary Willis signature model with an ebony fingerboard (with very minial wear from playing). The body is in excellent condition and the pickups and other electronics are faultless. These are hard to find instruments and have what Mr Willis described as a transparent sound. I've used mine to play soul, blues, rock, reggae, jazz and fusion. It even got used in a Shadows tribute show (don't ask). I would prefer to sell this to someone who can pick it up in person as I've had some bad experiences with the post. I live near Oxford but, within reason, would be happy to meet a buyer half way (NB really not if you live in China). The bass comes with its original hard case. If you want more detailed pictures I can sort those out via email. I'm looking for £900. All relevant questions are welcome.

    Hello!

Damn! I can't leave. But someone said I could check out any time I want. :-) BTW, I'm one of those bass players who began on bass, rather than start on guitar and transfer over. I still can't play guitar.
