1. Played country the last 2 nights. What is it with dressing rooms? Saturday: Sunday: *sigh* Gigs went well though!
2. They were going for about £30 on Amazon not that long ago.
3.
Seven posts and nobody has yet referred to it as a Dingray, so allow me.
Which begs the question: Dingray or Precisionbacker?
4. To the OP, don't let other people set the bar for 'success' in bass playing.
5. Done. Eagerly awaiting the launch of the Bass'n'Bits-Keeper 2000!
6. When I buy a CD I try to give it a couple of good listens on my hi-fi separates system which includes floor-standing speakers - wahey! After that I rip it to iTunes at 256kbps and it goes on my iPod for in-car listening on my hour-long commute to work. Music makes the journey bearable.
7. First outing for 10-piece function band - birthday party for the male singer's brother. PA was hired in, and the chaps set FOH and monitor levels quickly and without fuss. A lot of the numbers were segued together in sets of 3, and they all worked very well. I was most amused when we moved from 'I Gotta Feeling' into 'Pretty Woman' (Big O variety), and heard a male punter shout 'yay! Some things never change...
8. The wood still looks wrong - like the first Chinese Squiers.
9.
An And what "test" will we have Lozz presiding over this time? Will it involve cheap and (actually not at all) nasty Maplins speaker cabs?
There has to be a HEFT SHOOTOUT!
10. My 2p worth: I used to play in a pub covers trio, and early on I bought a set of Trantec IEMs for myself and the singer/guitarist. We only put vocals plus a bit of guitar through the PA, so effectively we just used them for vocal monitoring. We always kept our backline. I left a few years ago but the same band is still using the IEM set. Good points - one small, lightweight case to carry around instead of 2 or more heavy, bulky wedge monitors - very clear sound (after we bought decent earphones - the ones in the kit were shocking) - isolation from rather loud guitar, bass, drums - more space left on the floor, fewer obstacles for drunken punters to fall over - keeps down the overall volume in the venue as ypu don't have another set of speakers blasting away on the floor Bad points - always recharging PP3 9V batteries to make sure they don't die near the end of the second set - to start with you feel a bit cut off from the action (the downside of the acoustic isolation bit) - my bass never sounded as good with the earphones in, as I was just getting whatever spilled into the vocal mics - impossible to judge the sound balance - someone still has to walk out the front on a long lead and report back
11. Some love them (see my sig), others not so much. IBTL
12. Great piece of kit, had a half-share in one in a previous band. If you want to mount it in the top of a 'DJ rack' there are instructions on how to remove the handle to do this.
13. Band 2 for me. In fact I answered the ad in October and have my second and third gigs with the band this weekend. EDIT - Here's the proof:
14. I don't really care about the diameter as long as they sound good. EDIT: I draw the line at tweeters in bass cabs though - they are the work of Satan.
15. Tried one of these not long ago - happily qualifies as a 'super Jazz' in my opinion.
16.
Surely that will be a Mandelbrot fractal? Eventually the pattern will repeat and Blue will explain why the Beatles changed the world.
17. Excellent and informative review, cheers Mr Rock!
18.
With the best will in the world, this is just never going to work because it requires people to get things right when they post their ad or sell an item. On a daily basis we still end up moving numerous adverts to the correct forums and if people can't get that basic step right then any further layers of granularity are just going to result in dozens of extra subforums full of stuff that doesn't belong there. Whilst I can see the logic in what is being proposed, the reality is that forum (which is what we are of course!) software simply isn't geared up to do heavy duty e-commerce stuff.
Quite right. Commercial selling websites have honking great databases in the background, that users can search on multiple parameters (whether or not they realise it!)
19.

Ok that's a 1/8in jack socket. You need to be sure that you have positive going to the tip of the DC plug, negative to the 'sleeve'. The Pedal should work off 9V but it may have a bit less headroom. I used to have one of these, and I think I have the circuit at home (on hols at mo). I think DOD specify 10V because it drops about a volt across a diode that protects the circuit from incorrect polarity. If your lead is centre negative you will need to get an adaptor to reverse the polarity.
20. Hi can you tell me what connector is used where the mains cable plugs into the unit? It will most likely be an IEC connector ('kettle lead' with 3 flat pins) or clover leaf (3 circular-section pins). I've Googled for images but without success.
21.
1996 model I think.
Could you post a pic of the pedal's DC socket?
22. Ah well, just thought I'd offer - I didn't realise 'Lost in space' means 'Isle of Wight'!
23. If you are passing Swindon I'll be happy to take a look at the pedal for you.
