No bass fx board. For about 5-6 years I went without a chorus on my guitar board, until I picked up a home-built BYOC clone of a CE2. It needed some work to make it usable, and then I gave it a paint job and a decal:

I tend to follow connections from the stuff I already like, e.g. Albert Lee led me to Rodney Crowell and thence to Emmylou Harris.

Played a posh function with a scratch band - yes, you read that right. Did the same job this time last year. All good musicians in our/their own right, but only 2 rehearsals. We got away with it, and the band have been asked back for next year's event, but not very satisfying.

My tip would be to contact OBBM of this parish for advice and a quality hand-made speakon cable.

I don't think a ramp will help you develop a lighter touch, it will just prevent your fingertips going too far into the strings if you dig in hard. I found the right-hand position shown in the following technique, made me play with a much lighter touch: [media]http://youtu.be/PPVMBPmrblU[/media]

The civil law principle is known as [i]nemo dat quod non habet[/i], meaning nobody can give what he does not have. In this case, if the boy or the shop did not have title to the instrument, then they can't pass that title to you, i.e. you never own the bass. Returning it for a full refund is the way to go.
