1. Maybe a mod with IP address skills (hello icastle!) could do a bit of digging?
2.
Want to see the steely dan tribute band at some point, heard they're great, believe the bass player is on basschat.
I think you're referring to Nearly Dan and BC member Pete Academy. There is also a Steely Dan tribute in this area called Strictly Dan.
3.
FFS a brewery in Holt , Wiltshire , you have NO chance of getting spotted there , I mean Holt , who goes there ?
I went there once in the 90s, but then I live in Wiltshire.
4. Key centre of the OP is E. This sequence is sometimes referred to as a double plagal cadence.
5. I see
http://www.joinmyban...ts-t746888.html Just like this !!
They couldn't even organise a p!ss-up in a brewery. Oh, wait...
6. In the context of the many badly-relic'd guitars and basses that can be found on eBay, RARE means 'lightly toasted with a blow-torch'.
7. From my experience: 1x12 = enough 1x12 + 1x10 > enough => 1x10 + 1x10 = enough
8. I was Keef Rockhard in the Rolling Zones:
9. OK that's 2 people waiting for funds to buy this! First one to come up with the money gets it...

11.
Old town festival - town gardens, Swindon Saturday 13th june Chippenham beer and cider festival - chippenham Saturday August 1st Not massive events, but just nice to play somewhere where there is a happy crowd and a decent sound man (hopefully on both counts)
What band(s)?
12. Is it just me or has he not bothered to fit the fixing screws to the tuners?
13. Never seen one like that before!
14. Melksham Party in the Park with Purple Fish, 18 July.
15. For an audition I would tend to wear something neutral - black jeans and t-shirt. They can always imagine how you will look in a DJ / burka / Smurf outfit...
16. I had one of these, sounds great with a BF Compact. Can I just point out that the speaker socket will take either a Speakon or a 1/4in jack plug.
17.
Apart from all the other things that are horrible on this bass, why is the scratch plate about 12mm thick!
Never mind the quality, feel the thickness.
18.
It's an ugly thing and weighs too much.
I concur.
19. Very interesting article, thanks for linking Dunky. I don't think I've ever experienced this as a player, or indeed noticed it as an audience member - but the point is, you probably wouldn't know it was happening. Personally I rarely drink on gigs and then never more than a pint of beer - it takes the edge off my playing, and I'm usually driving anyway. Also I suffer some distortion in the hearing of my right ear, which is made worse by alcohol and tiredness. If I am working with or listening to a loud band I use ear plugs.
20. I share your dischuffment with the whole phones-and-iPads aloft phenomenon. To phone-raisers I say: FFS just enjoy the moment - a few minutes of crappy phone footage will not enhance your fond memories.
21. 'Active' inputs generally have lower gain and lower impedance than 'passive'. An active bass plugged into a 'passive' input will sound louder because of the higher gain. A passive bass plugged into an 'active' input will sound dull because it is seeing too low an impedance. I would be surprised if the tone of an active bas changed between the two inputs, as the active circuit should not be adversely loaded by the 'active' input. Having said all that, if it sounds good, just do it - no harm will result.
22.
Are you trying to imply i'm stupid with the "Duh!" comment It was a suggestion thats all, no need to be rude about it now is there
Just found this post! No, not at all, I was just referring to the obviousness of using the search box to do a search.
23.
Sandberg also spring to mind, the positioning of their MM pickups make them sound more like steroid fuelled J pickups http://www.sandberg-guitars.de/basscat-overview/basic-series-top/basicvm
True, my VM4 is very flexible indeed.
24. I am playing 'Red' in my new band and finger style works fine for me.
