1.
yeh, sorry left you all hanging for some time as DIY / house renovation projects have taken over Here she is A couple of scratches behind the strings just below the neck, presumably from long nails or a pick but nothing to detract from it need to make time to play it now
Ooh, liking the look of that! How is the balance when it's on a strap - not too neck-heavy?
  2.
I used the same bass for 34 years perfectly happily, then I discovered BassChat five years ago... and the madness began. I'm seriously considering going back to one bass and what's more, that same one bass...
£11k Fodera? I'll get me coat...
  3.
Were the audience in the mood for dancing?
Coat. Door.
  4. Sex on Fire, Dakota, and Valerie all feel like they have been flogged to death since 1 million years BC, but I'm guessing that's not what you mean...
  5. Yes, postage/delivery no problem. PM incoming.
  6. If I really had to share kit I would try to take something cheap, sh!tty and bomb-proof. You know the usual suspects...
  7.
Sandberg California PM/VM series. Active/passive switch. P and MM pickup. Jazz style neck. I have one and its bob on for a great P sound when you switch to passive and roll the blend to full on neck pickup. And tons of other great sounds when you don't........ Theres one here http://basschat.co.u...__fromsearch__1 - nothing to do with me btw.
+1
  8. Use whichever works best for the song.
  9.
Oh and turn up smart, on time, prepared and don't moan when the bandleader calls mustang sally!!!
^^^ Actually this is the most important bit!
  10. I like 'Don't Speak' and enjoy playing the bass-line. Brain-bursters: MacArthur Park (+1), Zombie (aaargh!).
  11. Go and see local bands. If you like what they do, chat to themn after the gig, mention you can dep if required - a busines card will also help. Get their setlist off their website and familiarise yourself with as much of their set as possible. Then wait for the call! You can do a similar thing via JoinMyBand and BandMix, where youcan also advertise yourself.

    Boss SY-300

    Cheap Impact?
  13.
Speaking of which, when can I hear this Demeter in Swindon, any gigs lined up? I am intrigued
Unfortunately it's had to go back for a repair, as the power now stay permanently 'on' regardless of the position of the mains switch! Outside of the house I have only used it on one rehearsal, so not enough imo to allow for a comprehensive NAD thread...
  14.
Chi Mike will want [s]one[/s] two
Fixed.
  15. PA is not backline, it's more, er... frontline! Breakables - strings, plectrums, drum heads? But I wouldn't expect that to include a PA either! Promoters - in the main, useless tossers.
  16.
We use the TH500 as our reference head in the shop. Seems to work with every cab we've ever partnered it with
I have to say the TH500 stood up very well against the Demeter Minnie 800 head on my recent purchasing visit to Bassgear. It also has stuff the Demeter doesn't, like a drive control.
  17.
Holy crap, this is a bargain! Would go well with Marvin's B410HLF!
Discreet's Kit Matchmaking Service™! Not complaining...
  18. One of my basses into one of my amps and one or both of my cabs (see below).
  19. Set up a page on BandMix - you can post pics, audio and video (as well as listing 'influences' - which always seems pointless to me!) See link below.
  20.
I'll take it! PM coming!
Wooks you have 2nd dibs but I am expecting payment tonight form aother BCer - unfortunately they didn't leave a 'PM sent' post, and I am a bit twitchy about breaching the bumping rules!
  21.
Are you saying Andy Summers was bad-mouthing Sting?
Sting to Stuart Copeland: Why don't you play it like this? Stuart Copeland to Sting: Why don't you f**k off? (Allegedly)
  22. Me too.
  23. Speaker cabinet serialiser from the skilled hands of our own OBBM. Allows you to connect 2 cabs in series; thus you can use 2 4-ohm cabs together to give an 8-ohm load (rather than 2 ohms if you connected them in parallel); or 2 8-ohm cabs would present a 16-ohm load. Extremely useful for matching cabs to amps with limited impedance options (such as some valve heads). All connections Speakon only. Cost £25 new, looking for £15 delivered.
  24.
The last two basses I've bought have had active/passive switches so you can play in either. I think it's something that should be on all active basses. It gives a lot of options...
+1 to that - on the G&L L1505 it's like a vintage/modern switch!
