1. Great looking bass, good job mate. Cheeky question: any sound clips?
2. Certain instruments tend to make you play a different way because of their sound and/or feel.
3.
Thanks guys, will Alex send me a Meerkat too ?
They used to but people were always complaining about the Meerkat handles.
4.
great & useful mods !
They certainly are
5. Bump. Realistic offers considered on the Voodoo Vibe. (DOD chorus is already cheap as chips!)
6.
Actually that sounds like a reasonable price to pay for total control! Hmm...
I didn't say total control. For that I would have to pay one million dollars!
7.
... But I get moaned at if I say I'm thinking of working with another band ?
Of course they'll moan at you if you mention moving on - you're their free ride / meal ticket / whatever! I organise a band, but I run it as a benevolent dictatorship, where I am the sole trader and the other guys are effectively subcontractors. They are absolutely fine with this - they know how much we all get, and they also know I will never be into them to pay for things like demo CDs or rehearsals. The upside for me is control (bwahahaha!); the downside for me is all the grief that goes with it, but at least I am paying myself a bit extra for that.
8. Here is Bright Onion's kill-switch range.
9. Just because an amp has 2 inputs doesn't mean you can use 2 basses into it at once. Those inputs are rarely set up as a summing mixer, which is what you need - hence the suggestions above.
10. Yes this is a good ole Boss CS3, but with a difference. The stock version tends to over-compress the bottom end making it too fierce for bass and leaving a somewhat wimpy sound. I have made a number of modifications which allow more bass through. Oh yes indeed! I have also added an eye-popping white LED to reassure you that this is no ornery pedal on which you are stomping. The paintwork on the metal enclosure is in very good condition. The label on the rubber base is a bit crinkly where I once removed it to fit pedalboard velcro. As you might expect, it works off a PP3 battery or a standard Boss-type power supply (neither included. No box, but will be well packed for shipping. Reason for sale: Cali76! Looking for £45 delivered to UK.
11. Don't forget that guitar watts come out louder than bass watts...
12. This is an incredible bargain compared to what dealers are now asking!
13.
Bandmix and joinmyband are the two I've used. With mixed results, it has to be said :-)
This. Put what you will in your ads (and I have), but you will still get some patently unsuitable applicants (and I have)!
14. Phase 90 SOLD. Voodoo Vibe now only £140 delivered in UK.
15.
I like the "tell it like it is" feel to this advert, wish more were this honest and up front, like this. being honest and not moving the goalposts later. I can tick all the boxes on this (and have two real Cowboy hats!! Fubar! Lol!) but Bugger I live in Rochdale.
I'm told it's hard being a cowboy in Rochdale....
16. I have recently bought a Cali76 for use on guitar, and I have it switched on the whole time. It's brilliant. I have yet to use it when recording bass, but I definitely will, as big peaks on bass notes otherwise mess up my attempts to get a good signal down. I have no desire to use it live though.
17. Not last night but the night before... At 8 hours' notice, played with Shaun Buswell on the first night of his latest Orchestra Challenge tour. He books a string of venues, prints out sheet music of 17 songs for 20 orchestral instruments, tries to recruit random players during the daytime, and everyone pitches up and plays form the dots in the evening. As it happened, there were no orchestral instruments, just Shaun on guitar and vocals, a chap called Chris on keyboards, and me on bass (playing from the DB score). The audience (who mainly don't know the songs) call out numbers (e.g. '3') and the band play the corresponding songs. It was the complete opposite of the more usual scenario where you practice and rehearse with a view to getting it right; instead, it all just happens, and it was mainly pretty good. I very much enjoyed it, and didn't even mind the very drunk man treating us to 'interpretive dance' at the front. He enjoyed it too btw.
18. Just watched this again. Excellent track, redolent of Avalon-era Roxy, and great playing by all involved. Just remembered I still have The High Road on VHS!
19.
Any comparison between the G&L and the Sandberg? Very similar looking.
None whatsoever, very different beasts.
