2.
unless your running the master volume up high which from knowing how loud the 500w version of this head was i doubt you are, i would think that you will be just fine. andy
What he said. I find I have to crank the gain pretty high on my Genz Benz head to get the preamp to overdrive on loud notes, but that is minimal compared to the kind of overdriving that valves are subjected to in guitar amps!
3.
Since my PC died I've been viewing BC on my phone. So I've been learning things about the advantages (and otherwise) of mobile browsing. One issue becomes very clear - a lot of members post hefty, unprocessed pics that take ages to download at best and at worst trigger an 'Aw, Snap!' message, which means the entire thread cannot be viewed. So I can't see your FS threads, people! It's very easy to sort - if you don't have appropriate software on your pooter you can use an online pic optimiser such as www.imageoptimizer.net Think of your multi-platform viewers and increase your potential customers, people! I thank you!
What is optimum pic size for mobile viewing? Or will that optimizer website sort that for you?
4. Mrs Axe walked past as I was perusing Karl's photos, and commented: 'Ooh pretty. A girl's I presume?' I have instructed her to fetch her coat forthwith.
5. I thought the centre speaker was for dialogue (in 5.1 anyway), not enhanced bass?
6. Clearly Fender took an ugly great gouge out of the body, in the vague shape of a J pickup, then filled it in with pus-coloured gunk. This sort of thing used to happen at the Fender factory all the time - or so it 'is believed'.
7. 3 in June 5 in July 4 in August Average 4 per month - can't complain!
8. I'm probably too fond of slippers and a nice cup of tea for this, but the material is good and I wish you well.
9. After 3 years successfully running my own band, I have become somewhat cheesed off with the all the admin required, so I am launching out as a full-on hired-gun depping kind of a chap. Hit me!

11. I've seen andyonbass a couple of times, playing double bass / EUB in The Imperial G-Men. I was impressed with the DB sound coming through his amp and the PA, but I don't envy him the harder path he has chosen compared to playing bass guitar. I should also mention I have played guitar in a band when he's been on bass guitar, but that's surely a whole other thread!
12.
Good video! Very good info, lots of tips and advice put straightforwardly. A quick note: even if there's a clip light . . . LISTEN FOR CLIPPING!!!!... the light may not catch some minor transient clipping (or the blink can be missed by the observer!). Good DAW's e.g. Reaper show clipping visually in a clear way so this is less of a problem than with some older digital recording methods.
+1. ears before eyes every time when recording. In fact that goes for amp settings when playing live too!
13. I have had good results from a Blue Mikey that plugs into the (old-style) dock connector of my iPod. There are 3 sensitivity levels (selected via a switch on the mic), and you can set the iPod (or iPhone I guess) to record at low or high quality. Next time you connect to your computer, the .wav files are imported into iTunes. After that you can do what you want with them e.g. upload to Dropbox for the rest of the band to listen to. Great for proving that the guitar(s) is/are too loud!
14. I think they called that finish 'magma'. A mate of mine still has one of these.
15.
Tempted to pull it already..just the ballache of getting a preamp for it. Text me dammit!
A pre-amp?! No way do this need a pre-amp!
16. Ditto. And my age is more than double the maximum, and nearly 3x the minimum!
17. @silverfoxnik: Yep, expecting to pay £10 on the door as per SE Bash. Timings seem sensible too. Has anyone nominated a charity to receive any net takings?
18.
It took me until I was in my late 50s to go out and buy whatever gear I wanted. Within reason. Blue
I've managed this by my early 50s, but there is a certain pleasure in getting a great sound from entry-level kit. I still gig my Squier Tele, and get a great Hendrix sound from my £50 tranny Marshall combo.
19. Colour me interested too, but a picture paints a thousand words etc.
20.
yeah , I'm looking for ones that don't kill my tone ( boss LS-2) and pedals that have good features,
Yup, not one I would recommend!
21. Not quite sure what you are asking there, Al. On an amp, you may have either serial or parallel loops, or both, or one with a mix control that effectively sweeps between the two extremes. If you mean a pedalboard gadget for mixing effected sound in with your clean signal, then you are looking at things like the Boss Line Selector or the GigRig Wet Box.
22.
Hope this helps; subject to completion, correction and/or contradiction from others...
You forgot to mention: subject to availability, terms and conditions apply, etc, etc...
